You have to use pkhex to change the pokemon names.

What I did was
>Delete every single pokemon in anon's team
>Hack in a latios
>Name the latios name
>Change the player character's name to Name

I used the hint from this:
http://tieba.baidu.com/p/4856932097
>use the modifier name change Chinese people, with the spirit into Fig sign there, as I'll take three (main elves, sun and Gigue de)
IT'S SOMETHING TO DO WITH HOW THE CHARACTER OR THE POKEMON ARE NAMED WHICH CAUSES THE CRASH!!!!

The inject mons and there because I kept editing the pokemon until the game would let me pass. (also beating Kukui about 15 times would be shit) Original user wasn't hacking.
>>
>>29842543
I think that the trick to beating the game in Citra is:
>Player name probably cannot contain characters like '-'
>The Pokemon must be named something other than the default name
>>
I used the 15-09 gdmk build to control for variables:

>>
>>29842449
How's the speed on yours?
>>
>>29842643
Don't worry about the speed anon!
NOW THAT WE KNOW THAT THE KUKUI CRASH CAN BE BYPASSED WE CAN PROBABLY DO POSTGAME

The devs often improve the speed, but do not correct the bugs. So the ability to bypass the champion crash is much more important than anything else.

Also, the bleeding edge build will probably get speed improvements due to the new pull requests!

Quick question about Citra, you save the game normally? I'm used to using other emulators and I don't see a way to create save/load states.

Yeah you save normally.
Please download bleeding edge 46 from my guide https://www.sendspace.com/file/wmg9ex as this is the one with the NAND files that you need to bypass the crashes.

Citra doesn't support save states so you'll have to do it as you would on a 3DS

Another optimisation I make is:
[Miscellaneous]
log_filter=*:Critical

In qt-config.ini. This disables logging except for critical errors and offers an FPS boost however you won't be able to get an error log of bugs.

You can only use the speed values that the options allow.

When I first open up the emulator I can emulate over 100% speed on SM.

How do you people even get Citra to max out a cpu core usage? For me, the most used core doesn't go past 60-65% while overworld FPS doesn't go past 20. Realtime priority for the process doesn't noticeably change it at all.
>>
>>29843587
you cant, its stuck on 1 core, just like the 3ds

Read the sendspace guide about where save files are located.
However if you are constantly crashing that is because you lack NAND and it's literally nothing to do with what version of Citra you are using.

I take it back, it can't decide whether to run too fast or too slow, and also it hates me.

Seriously, though, picking my basic picture is nigh-impossible, pressing right just zips it through the options at light speed. Which is worse, spending $40 on the game or suffering through incredibly slow cutscenes and terrible sound?

So the profile numbers show performance in ms/frame. You can calculate FPS from that by getting the "Frame (with flipping)" measure and doing 1000/x.

I just tried profiler and it says my overworld was getting 30fps. Lel feels like 9fps. 4690k and gtx 980. I'll try fraps later.

And this is when my emulator froze. I haven't been able to get past here. Admittedly, I am using a rather shitty computer, but it's not THIS bad.

Running Citra on a laptop to try this. I get grey screens on boot of the game(language select). But when I turn off hardware render, it displays the game as it should but plays very slowly. Am I just fucked?

The Mom crash seems to be a bug experienced by multiple people, anyone have any idea why?
>>
>>29847323
Do you have the nand or not?
>>

So I tried using the sun .3ds file in there, and I'm getting this error:
[ 5.498810] HW.GPU <Critical> core\hw\gpu.cpp:MemoryFill:89: invalid start address 0x00000000
[ 5.499386] HW.GPU <Critical> core\hw\gpu.cpp:MemoryFill:89: invalid start address 0x00000000
The game's frozen, and I can't move past the language select screen.

Do you have Citra with NAND?
If not, get the build from here: https://www.sendspace.com/file/kspx4l
>>
>>29847180
>>29847323
>>29847332
I couldn't get around the mom crash until I used the NAND citra from the guide. Using the guide's NAND-filled goodness, the game works perfectly (not frozen yet, although, slow af)
>>
>>29847367
I downloaded the Citra build in the guide here >>29842774
which the guide said has the NAND files.
I'll try that build though and see what happens.
>>
>>29847407
If you copy and paste my NAND via the user folder into any Citra emulator it will make that version of Citra work.
>>
My option to enable V-Sync is greyed out. Any other way to slow down the game?

I can't get Citra to save cheat codes when I attempt to add them for some reason. Was trying to use the one that disables outlines for the performance boost but no dice.

Using your user folder, it works fine even though it displays that message and I can also get past mum. Is there something wrong with your GPU or the copy of the ROM? Citra requires a 64 bit computer with openGL 3.3 or more.

Fucking weird.
Try this solution. I've never run into the problem so maybe that's what this user is referring to.

That is the latest Citra version. There's also a guide on moving your NAND, configurations and save files to a new citra if that one ends up coming out in the guide.

Just checked, it's 4.4, so it's not that either.

By playing enough in the game to save.

Default controls to make a save is Z to bring up the menu, mouse for the touchpad, A for yes, S for backout.

ive got the latest bleeding edge and when i use it my game crashes after 30 seconds.

Ive also got an unofficial citra, Citra JIT, that runs a little slower but never crashes.

Apparently the official versions of citra dont run pokemon games

what unofficial citra can play pokemon and match the official versions speed?
