Watching them while they were airing, I wanted both of those to happen, especially advanced shipping after the Manaphy movie. But looking back, May had Drew and Dawn was just another Ash.

I don't know how the shipping is gonna work, because spreading out teases for 3 girls over ~150 episodes feels like a slog.

I would hope we have an actual story arc where one of them travels with Ash, just for the sake of consistency. The SM game spoilers make the story look interesting, but I don't know if the anime would want to adapt it. Kids play the games and watch the anime, so who knows?
