Pokemon Go is a game for niantic to waste time on, normies to waste money on, and Nintendo to cash in on. Literally nobody involved really cares about pokemon in the slightest. From the start it was meant to be a shell of a game, because that's all it needed to be to make money. Stop expecting it to be anything different.

Any non hardcore player dropped it including me. There's just nothing to do. Hatching eggs, catching the same 10 Mons and attempting to fight overpowered gyms. There's no variety. I live in a city and it's the same mons over and over

They could literally never update the game again and the money would keep coming like it is already. Gen 2 is never happening.

Pokemon GO was a cash grab. The developer is so incompetent they can't even communicate with their user base in a professional/timely manner.

They can barely keep a failing game afloat, what makes you think they'll be able to add another generation of Pokemon?
