Is anyone else pissed as fuck that this is the system they decided to go with?

I absolutely hate this feature, and I was praying that it was either gonna be scrapped or end up being a SF only thing. The original tracker was 1000x better than this piece of shit. For one, it barely works in SF, where there are pokestops every ten feet. In places with only a few in sight for a mile or so, it'll be worthless. This basically means they're intentionally scrapping a COMPLETED and WORKING tracker that the game launched with, and replacing it with a tracker that is unusable for anyone outside of a few big cities.

It's like they aren't even updating that game at that point since it only effects a small percent of the user base.

It's not objectively terrible, but it suffers from the same problems ghost/poison did in Gen 1, in that there's way better things to use.

It's CP is also on the low end. I never powered one up, but it can be okay vs. Treemen and venasaurs.

My opinion's skewed though- I barely power anything up because level 20 hatched shitmons can take most gyms anyway with proper typing

There are a variety of valid reasons to not want scanners.

- Scanners hammer the servers with multiple accounts scanning for every person that scans it every N seconds, usually ranging from like 10 accounts to 2000 accounts
- Scanners use multiple accounts, that's against the typical one-account-per-person rule for MMOs.
- Scanners are essentially bots
- Scanners spoof GPS
- Scanners also take out all the work that is expected to go into finding a Pokemon, no different from peeking at the answers for a trivia game

By letting scanners and bots run free, Niantic is implicitly acknowledging that they are okay and that other people should have no reason to believe that they're not allowed despite the various clauses that disallow it. If they want their product to look like it has any form of rule enforcement, they have to waste time stopping scanners and spoofers and bots. Otherwise, we'll be back to PoGo in July where everyone is botting and said people are also bitching about how Niantic are clowns who can't catch/ban obvious bots teleporting around at 300mph in Central Park.

Being a MMO dev means you're going to waste a lot of manhours on this shit because some smartass is always going to want to write a bot for it and then some subhuman third-worlders and Amerifats want to do business buying and selling pre-leveled accounts.

Going "Hurr Niantic sucks shit, that's why scanning is okay" is the same type of stupid logic some 12yo script kiddie in CS:GO spouts like "Hurr everybody's cheating, so I should too" when he's the only one doing it.

If Niantic leaves scanners alone, it'll again be an implicit acknowledgement that they exist and that Niantic won't bother with them, and also admitting that Niantic can't provide their own system that does something similar. Sort of like how the Steam TOS doesn't allow bots but because Valve doesn't enforce that rule on them, trading and market bots get to run freely with zero worry about getting banned and if Valve ever decides to enforce the rule on some particular set of bots, there will be a loud outrage as everyone wonders if they're next when Valve left them alone for years now. Pokémon Go Plus only attempts a single throw, if it escapes that's it. It also never uses Great Balls, Ultra Balls or Razz Berries.
If you're walking through a spot with lots of Poké Stops repeatedly the deficit will disappear and you'll start farming a balanced number of items.
