I'm in the same place as you but I also understand them because this is as close as we will ever get to a canon ship, which even can be called canon and it has only been 5 days. They're more than right to post about it. Some of these guys has been following it for over 3 years and it did finally pay off which most things in XY didn't sadly.

Just like how I described it there.

I assume it'll run for much longer. But one day the execs will say "that's it" and they'll be told to wrap it up.
I guess that in this final season Ash will finally be allowed to win the league and become the champion. I also assume that they will have a short epilogue showing him grown up with the wife and his own little Ash Ketchum Jr. who is ready to go out, as said before.

However, I think it might not be Serena. The reason for that is because I think that by the time the anime ends, Serena will have been "too long ago". Hell, assume they put an end to it in some 25 years. The people who will be watching it are not the people who are watching it right now, except for a very small minority. Those people will have wanted to see their own ships, romance subplot and so on and forth. I reckon they'll probably have Ash end up with a girl from one of the most recent, relatively speaking, seasons then.

Nothing but assumptions obviously, but I just can't see them digging out Serena after 20+ years of not having her on the show just because a director back then put some flower message in an episode.

The problem with the pokemon franchise is it lost the "adventure" aspect that was in Kanto Region.
Kanto Region had so many characters and so many adventures, so many little pockets of information that made the show a timeless classic

Now that XY is basically over and this is actually a discussion thread, I'll be honest with you guys: anyone love her character yet hated her performance quest? Other than the qts the whole thing just felt so much less interesting to watch than contests in DP. The characters interactions other than with Millfy felt kind of dull, Jessie was just kind of there other than being an actual rival for Serena, Yashio gave so much buildup without much impact in the end, and it concluded very unceremoniously.

I loved Serena's character and her development from the beginning to the end of the series was one of my favorite things about the series, but man I wish her actual goal was better handled.

There was a post floating around here from a fan who - I think they visited Japan but I can’t be sure - was able to meet Teppo (a really famous fan-artist for Pokeani ships who is from Japan). They got some doujin signed and had a conversation and they asked Teppo about Serena and Amourshipping in Japan. According to Teppo, both of them are not all that popular and Pokeshipping still has quite the strong fanbase in its home country even after all these years. If that doesn’t speak to the longevity/immortality of this ship then I don’t know what does.
