People said it "invited" shitposting but dub shitposting still occurs to this day, the worst that would happen when it was in the OP was that an OP would often forget to update it with the next title (usually because he wouldnt keep up with it) and would defend himself with a typical ">watching the dub" argument even though as an OP, he is obligated to update it regardless of whether he likes the dub or not.

Removing it basically makes it easier for shitposter OPs to fall under less scrutiny of OP maintenance, because now they don't have to be as on-point with updates unless it's a Thursday or spontaneous info release like right now.

The dub section was literally a filter for good/bad OPs. There used to be an old saying for this too: "If you can't make the OP right, don't make it at all."

My pipedream for the Serena special would be her running into both May and Dawn in Hoenn, who are now rivals together. Serena taking tips from May and Dawn on how to be a coordinator would be great.

Well I fell asleep before I could finish typing last night so now I gotta say WOW! Never in a million years would I have expected her to plant one on the lips. If Ash didn't know before he sure knows now. Personally I'd say this is canon for me but I'll definitely keep that quiet as many other shippers and such were quite upset on Youtube and other places. But it was sad to see an end to an era.

Now we have Sun and Moon to look forward to and perhaps a return of Serena and from near the end of the episode it seemed like Greninja might visit Ash which works great to make him weaker at the start (Well save for his pseudo legendary beating Pikachu that laughs in the face of Tyrannitars and Metagrosses) But in all seriousness she is definitely coming back but I can't quite figure out how the new director and new style will play into this. If this is a full on reset for Ash even worse than Black and White then I guess Amour could be in trouble. But more than likely it will be a Dragon Ball Super type situation where the animation could improve maybe 50 episodes in.

But guys! If you see what Blue in Sun and Moon says when he calls you a fellow champ then there could be a league in Alola which could be as several of you predicted, a good point post school arc where Serena and Greninja could return. Hopefully they do handle it right when she does come back. But even if she doesn't she is basically confirmed to be his endgame, however I'm not sure if I'll be alive when Pokemon ends (if it ever ends.)

A day after and I'm still trying to process yesterday's episode. I'm not a crazy amourshipper, which might be hard to believe since most of my posts are in this thread, but I do enjoy the cute moments and hints when they happen.

I always tried to keep my hopefulness and expectations at a minimum, so the kiss was a huge surprise to me, but I loved it. I did not think the writers would actually have the cojones to pull the trigger on something like that. If I was told at any point before yesterday's episode that Serena would kiss Ash in their goodbye, then I would have laughed at them. Sometimes it's nice to be proven wrong.

The kiss felt special and not just thrown in to satisfy people. I mean, she's the only person in the entire series who has history with Ash (besides his mom but that doesn't count). She's basically had a crush on him for years, and the reason for the crush itself was very cute and didn't feel forced. She started out by being really shy and couldn't express her feelings at all, but here she is now going on her own journey and kissing the guy she loves in front of her other two best friends. Kissing someone you've liked for a long time is one thing, but kissing that person in front of other people takes even more courage. The escalator moment really topped off Serena's development, since it was essentially her becoming independent and separating from her friends, and her finally being able to express her feelings that she's hidden for several years.

I really hope she makes a cameo, or at very least is referenced if Ash is ever asked if he has kissed a girl before (:

What do Pokemon and HM do have in common? Both are family friendly series, therefore some scenes may be blocked out for the sake of children. Kind of ridiculous but again, they're supposed to be family friendly.

Kinda late to the party, but whatever! Yesterday we got the final non-special XYZ episode, and man! What a blast it was!

The whole scene regarding Serena's departure made my heart melt faster than butter under the sunlight. Never would I have guessed that the anime could be so daring, and that surely took me by surprise in a very positive way. The atmosphere, the music, the kiss, the reactions, the secret message... everything was just perfect and made pretty obvious what had just happened. I couldn't have wished for a better "closure" to the shipping, really. This is the closest to canon we ever got (and most likely ever get, since I doubt a similar "stunt" would work again), that's for sure.

However, am I the only one who saw the elevator temporarily halting when Serena leaned for the kiss? Could that mean… #ElevatorKnows?

I think the last shot with the baby breath flowers is really charming. Ending a good series with such delicate sight is always soothing.

I don't think the flowers entirely focus on Ash and Serena's new relationship angle, but I do think it is one of the many referenced things. They have a lot of potential, and I am hoping with all of my heart they are going to continue on this romantic path. What a beautiful moment to treasure forever.

My two cents on Ash's reaction (sorry people if I'm a little late about this :P),

I know that some have said that Ash's reaction was pretty neutral but IMO, he understood Serena's message. Right after his shocked expression, he regained his thoughts, smiled and afterwards waved goodbye to Serena enthusiastically. Earlier before the kiss, we only saw Ash standing with the res while they watch her leave (though, he did walked closer to see Serena leaving. Right after the kiss, Ash seemed glad as he waved goodbye to Serena and provided that it was on the lips, I'm sure that he already knew what the kiss means.

What an amazing trip it's been. For all the ups and downs, for all the uncertainty and pessimism, a truly marvelous ending was delivered. My Thursday mornings won't be quite the same without being able to check up on the XY series, but I am very happy about how they ended the series. I like to think that Sun and Moon is an alternate reality Ash to explain the alternate art style and personality, because to have it continue from what we have at the end of XY would really ruin it. At the very end of XY we have Serena working towards her new goal on her own thanks to the help of Ash. And we have Ash finally returning to Pallet Town, likely to tell his mother about all that he faced in his long travels throughout Kalos, as well as perhaps Serena. These implied emotions between the two characters mixed with the slight ambiguity is to me the perfect ending to the series.

Well, since I got a new thought over what he might have been feeling at that time, here it goes.

When Serena told him that he is her goal and whatnot and took the escalator, he stepped forward, to see her off one last time. That enigmatic smile he had must have been a mix of pride- that she's much more confident now, and also his inner feelings for her to an extent. Then when she kissed him, he must have put every event that happened between them, every hint that she might have given him, all other actions and support in the right perspective. That's the shiny eyes. Then he sort of sighed before smiling at her. I'd say that's the bittersweet moment for him. He realized his feelings for her to whatever extent, and this separation was reminiscent of how they must have separated at the end of the Summer Camp when they were kids. So his thought must have been, "Here we separate again; and until we meet again, see you Serena" And the smile was that he's happy with how everything turned out between them.
