"Kiddie shit" is rarely what makes a pokemon anime good or bad. Just look at the worst seasons (gen 3 and 5). They tried to be serious or lacked strong characters for the side protags and suffered heavily from it. SM looks like it will be kiddy, but good because of that. The side characters look fun and the plot doesnt seem to take itself seriously.

Really? May has one of the most diverse personalities of the main girls because she's neither overly girly nor extremely tomboyish. She also has an outgoing girl next door personality where she can lose her temper and blow up in an instant or be generally nice and caring.
