Im thinking my first priority will be walking out an 89% dratini with 14 in atk. Not special for most of you by the coast, but this is the best I've got and only go to beach maybe once a month. So I need about 112 km for him which is a bit less than 20/day. This will be a great une to go the beach though. Any other so cal anons have beach suggestions? Also about gyms I look for promissing gyms and power them up to place my pokemons. I have pokemons in two different cities but since I don't have high CP cap pokemons like dragonites it is a matter of time until my vaporeons are kicked out of the gym for another dragonite.

Whenever I'm farming Pokeballs, I usually end up with a shitton of revives and potions, and only like 30-60 balls total out of 350 backpack space because I'm also catching a ton of Pokemon while I'm spinning stops. I throw out (Normal / Super / Hyper) Potions and Revives in batches of 50s and still don't end up with many balls. And I still burn a shitton of them while taking down about three to five lv 10 Mystic gyms a day because the spoofing faggots just won't stop spoofing. I just can't stop getting them.

I talked about this to a friend who still plays and do you know what they said? They complained that they never get any potions or revives. I'm like okay. Then they show me their backpack and I shit you not, they had about 110 Ultra Balls. I almost screamed WHAT THE FUCK at them in a crowded restaurant because of how shocked I was to see anyone with that many fucking Ultra Balls at once. They play in the same Pokemon-dense area as me and they are hoarding Ultra Balls. I ask them if they just never catch Pokemon or never find any rare Pokemon (I find plenty of starters and rares to throw Ultra Balls at) and the answer was yes. I'm like "Why not?" and the answer was "I don't spend all day playing and I don't feel like catching Pidgeys" which doesn't answer the question of how the fuck they managed to accrue 100+ Ultra Balls, and for how long. Later that day, they threw some Ultra Balls at Magikarps and complained that they were below 80 Ultra Balls now and that it's a tragedy.

This makes me believe that anybody bitching about the lack of Potions / Revives just basically never catch shitmons or play for more than an hour a day.

Okay so is it better for a pokemon to have a higher level or higher IVs before evolving?

I have two Shellder at fairly similar CP, but one is level 24 and the other is 22. The 22 has 95% IVs whereas the 24 is 84%.

Evolve whatever you want, but don't power up Pokemon until after you evolve them so that you can check their movesets.

Gonna bike quite a bit more with my dratini and hatch eggs. Use the daily ~100g for incubators.

Even with the event, I only have like 55 dratini candy, so I won't get too many, even if I aim for 10-15 km a day. So I have to consider what I'm going to do with other rare candies.

There's Jiggly, eggy, bulbasaur, charmander and Bellsprout. Capitalizing on rare 1 km candy would probably net me the most worth, but knowing myself I'll be too fixed on the dratini.

Hey guys, serious theorycrafting time.

Bubblestrat was a great gym powergrinding cheese because:
(a) You could only bring one Pokemon with you, and
(b) swapping out the autopicked Pokemon for the relevant 10 CP Pokemon was easy and fast

When Niantic updated gym training to allow trainers to bring 6 Pokemon in training sessions instead of just 1, it killed Bubblestrat's effectiveness by a non-trivial amount. You had to swap out 6 Pokemon every time you wanted to train the gym to get your +600-+1000 prestige and it was annoying as fuck. Same for trainers who managed to find some niche for themselves and do something similar with 1v1 (e.g. put in a 2k Flareon, beat it up with a 1k Starmie).

Blog: Pic related was my very first Snorlax I caught a few weeks ago when I was like lv 25. Most people would have just chucked him immediately but I thought the fact that he was level 1 was a hilarious way of the RNG telling me to go fuck myself so I kept it as a reminder of how much the RNG hates me.

But what if this lv 1 Snorlax is a blessing?
What if I can use a lv 1 Snorlax and use it as a replacement for Bubblestrat?

The gym prestige formula was never changed, right? Prestige was always +500 prestige multiplied by the ratio of the defender over attacker, and the new 6-man training session only checks the highest CP mon in the team.
>Prestige gain per mon = 500 * (Defender CP / Attacker CP)
What if, I bring a team of six 10 CP Pokemon (which I already have) and use it to take down the Snorlax? Sure, I'd still have to swap them out every time and still potion+revive them after every session, but according to the formula, this means that every training session is going to be +2050 prestige.

And if this actually works, what would be other viable lv 1 Pokemon I could use instead of a Snorlax for more prestige gain? Dragonites? Chanseys? Would the usual suspects of highest CP work if I could catch and evolve lv 1 versions?

Well depends but what I was thinking, what would be the highest CP Pokemon that a squad of 10 CP Pokemon could reliably beat?

I still have to heal 6 Pokemon.
I still have to swap 6 Pokemon every fight because of the autopicker.
I still have to win the fight.

Sure, an easier level Pokemon would work but I mention the Snorlax because he's 4 times the CP, not +50% higher or double. If we want to maximize the cheese, we want higher CP because the time bottleneck is in setting up the team, not the fight.

Bubblestrat also worked because you didn't take any damage if you did it right but that limited options by a lot to Pokemon 20 CP or lower and only specific ones with specific moves. If you bring a 6-man team that didn't give a shit about damage as long they win the 6v1, surely you could face harder Pokemon.

I'm not near a good gym to test this on or I would already be outside testing but I think the Snorlax might work.

I heard Magikarps also do damage with Splash now so I'm not sure if a 40 CP Magikarp would work either, not that I have one on hand.

It doesn't matter. You still end up having to use at least one revive each time to do this. It is effectively the same as just bumping up a 2k flareon with a 1k vaporeon, except in the latter case if you plan on bringing the 1k vaporeon back up to 100% you need better potions to do it.

And that sole advantage is outweighed by two things: 1) you can more efficiently and quickly gain prestige by battling multiple mon on a gym and 2) you are leaving a very easy to beat mon on the first slot, allowing someone to take off 500 prestige for very little cost to themselves should they chose to.

I don't say this often, but Niantic really did a good job of nuking bubblestrat.

you want a pokemon with inflated cp but poor at defending
probably your best bet is just to use magikarp
you could use a 90cp magikarp, and the snorlax could be one of your attackers (you'd only really need him and 5 fillers below his cp)
also you're understanding the formula wrong
you would only get 1000 prestige for beating the one enemy even with ideal cp values

in short: your idea doesnt work the way you think which is why people arent doing it

Recently I realized that there is a Pokemon GO gang war in my area, its pretty much Valor vs Instinct.
They pretty much have their own territory in my little suburb, Valor claimed a giant park which used to be a Growlithe nest and is home to 4 gyms, and Instinct owns about 7-8 gyms near smaller parks and other popular places, I would say that Instinct is winning since it has the most amount of gyms and don't name themselves shit like "ValorElite<Input 2 letters here>, its a common trend between Valorfags in my area and its autistic.
Mystic is fucked in my area, having only 1 significantly big gym between the 2 territories.
The 3 nations were at peace, however, Mystic was getting destroyed by Valor and their gym days were over... at this point in time Instinct gave no fucks, just as long as they didn't touch their 'trifecta' of gyms.
