I'm level 30 and pissed pham. Scanners being killed and cold climate means i was planning on getting comfy in some big gyms

This new training system, in an active city, means my chances of getting my slot jacked mid battle increases tremendously.

It's great when you can set up a nice team to take a whole bunch in a row out, but annoying if you only wanna fight the first Pokémon.

I did get a pretty nice training session going earlier, +8k prestige in two battles.

I can't remember the exact lineup but it was something like Jolteon, Magmar, Tentacruel, Gyarados, Gyarados, Gyarados, Exeggutor.

Could defeat the first six with Golem, Vaporeon, Magnemite, a couple of Jolteon and a Raichu.
The problem with this though is a lot of team members take bits of damage even if they don't get fainted, and I'm short on weaker potions to patch them up. Only have the 60 or so Max potions right now but I'm gonna go item farming tomorrow.

Worst thing yet: if youre power training and there are slots open by the time u set the ideal team, there's a great chance you're not battling the expected 4 mons but 5 now.

Right before the servers crashed there were 4 firemons in a row. Someone threw a treeman in second (4th from top). I had a vaporeon and poliwrath and 4 shit mon with me. Got 138 xp cause vape and gold were higher than first mon

I fucking love the new training system, for once Niantic can do something sort of right.

Allied gym had a 1800 CP Clefable, 2000 CP Snorlax and a 2200 CP Lapras. Normally I would've just given up on it. But instead I just brought in a dream team of 1700 CP dudes and sweeped the whole gym for +2000 prestige a pop.

The only complaint is the fucking autopicker automatically going for the highest CP mons that are too high but the prestige gain is soooooooooooo much more of an improvement than the 1v1 mash-and-pray prestige play.

No more crying at my teammates for dropping in some fatass shitmon that my shitmons can't beat. I'll just bring 6 of them.

Lapras is your best contender here, another dragonite can work fine but a lapras can kill him and keep half his HP with a 1k CP difference, if you know how to dodge.

Depositing a Pokémon increases prestige by 2k, even if you've hit the 50k cap.
If someone trains a gym all the way to 50k and there are multiple free spots, the prestige can go much higher if they all get filled. The absolute limit is therefore 68k.

They patched that glitch out a long time ago. Like 0.33.0 or so.

It used to never remove despawned Pokemon from the trackers, now it does. Just not in real-time. There's a delay of a few seconds, whatever the time between tracker updates is.

Every time the spinning Pokeball icon goes and then your tracker box blinks, that's when it got an update to the current nearby Pokemon. If it's still there, it's guaranteed to be in the area at least a few seconds ago. If it fails to get an update from the servers, the game actually just wipes the box wholesale until it gets a real tracker update on the next check so you can't blame it just showing you expired information when having network issues. It's really not that bad anymore. Sure, extra information like distance would be nice but the box is perfectly usable for triangulation now, no restarts required. Even in your greentext story, you found the Ivysaur, it was just slightly out of range on your first pass.

I was in Quebec (Canada) on Monday and i saw a level 10 gym with 8 grassmons and two vaporeons.

Flareons and hatching growthlies are their only options I guess. I caught enough bellsprout for a victreebel

I agree that it's better now that it was, but it's still awfully inconsistent. I walked a distance well over 200m, and it did not vanish after almost 5 mins of waiting for a tracker update. Only after a restart did it refresh, prompting my frustration, and its definitely not a connectivity issue as I get pretty good reception up in and around my block.

If the tracker is supposed to take this long to update, then I don't think it's unreasonable to want to resort to scanning than dealing with this lackluster feature.

It's annoying for gyms but whenever I'm playing with friends I drift sometimes in a 50 meter radius at random points and I can tell them were the mons are and they can tell me what's going on on our current location. If I want to go back to my exact location I have to open Google maps, which does a better job than PoGo at locating, wait for a few seconds and once it gets my position PoGo sends me to the correct location.

I'm the only one who drifts in the group heavily because I have a chinese phone that's pretty good at everything except GPS locating (which most of the time is not bad at all).

If Niantic starts checking that, they'll just spoof that bit too. It's not hard, just an extra line of math for altitude and stuff. The Unknown6 shit sent other sensor values too but not every phone actually has said sensors (e.g. mine doesn't have an IMU for momentum so I can't play AR mojde) so picking a phone model without that shit and sending randomised or blank fields will defeat it easily.

Also, perhaps they got paid for reaching certain milestones with GO and have no incentive to upgrade it any further because Nintendo doesn't give a shit (they got 2 Pokemon games coming up on their handhelds anyway) and since they've got to maintain it, they thought they'd just alienate half of the playerbase to alleviate server load and diverted their programmers to other projects/GO 2.

There's a reason people hate cops.

Especially traffic cops. It's not that they get more pay, it's that every ticket is more money for the city/department and they camp only specific spots to maximise the number of people they can fine (e.g. by an off ramp where the speed limit changes from 55 to 30 or something so normal drivers and tourists get burned). That and usually traffic cops get docked pay or fired for not hitting the ticket quota. It's a scummy system that a lot of police departments are dependent on now so they apply scummy practices.

I could believe that cops would go after jaywalkers if they were told to and/or it gets them more fines than standing around but I'm sure they have better sources of fines most of the time, hence my comment saying "They must be real bored".
