Don't expect you'll be making loads of cash from day 1. The start will be fucking rough. Make a Tumblr and Deviantart and start drawing like an absolute madman, at least 2 things per day, and it goes without saying that you should pander, pander hard and shamelessly to the lowest common denominator because those are the ones with more people and as such the ones that will be more willing to shed out money.

I recommend making comics. Do lots of lots of little comics, 4komas. Those get super popular for some reason, much more than just random sketches.

MAKE FRIENDS, INTEGRATE IN THE COMMUNITIES.

And last but not least forget the concept of pride. Money > Pride. Pride won't feed you nor pay you the bills. If someone ask you to draw dick shitting nipples you ask if the shit should be solid or watery and then you'll fucking do it and fucking enjoy drawing those dick shitting nipples.

Don't forget to also make a Twitter for even more exposure. You have to be social, social media is your friend, use it, abuse it, otherwise you won't get far at all.

I can find many great maybe lesser known artists who will draw great pictures, fully colored and shaded with a good background for less than $80
I know because I got a few great pics for that price or less last year - one of them even threw in an extra chibi character drawing because the picture took longer than they had estimated (not that I minded, I'm fairly patient)

I charge what people are willing to pay - If I were somehow a particularly popular artist I know I'd be able to charge more money for less work because people will commission me just to have a commission from me.

That said, not every artist is 0r0chi or some other popufur and many of them charge more reasonable rates.

On the buyer's side I just don't pay more than what I feel is worth paying for something. "Look elsewhere" is probably the second most important bit of advice regarding buying something. The other being "sleep on it"

Can't complain! Had a bumpy patch for awhile but i'm all good now!

it's all photoshop, it took me awhile to get past the whole no stabilizer thing to make my lines smooth, because I was working with sai for the longest time. The watercolour brushes are some that I made, they are very pressure sensitive and mix well with other colours being on the same layer.
There's a lot more versatility with photoshop than other programs I find that aid my personal workflow, don't think i can go back now, aha

You should study the brushes he uses, the textures, the lightning and the palletes. The style of rendering. The lineart or the lack of thereof.
