That episode showed that Ash was disappointed with his performance at the Unova League and was where he vowed to get stronger.

In terms of Amour, I felt like the blushing scenes were what really got me because they focused so much on it during the Wulfric and League battles and it was so obnoxious because we all know it'd mean nothing and just made Serena's character look worse.


I will say though that there relationship had progressed alittlebut still incredibly weak when compared to Ash's relationship and dynamic with any other Pokegirl, you'd think someone with a Canon crush on him would get more interesting never before seen relationship dynamics with him but they just dropped the damn ball so hard it's almost funny, the shipping itself actively prevented Ash and Serena from having a more fun and casual bond which suuuucks. I hope Lillie or Mallow or whoever is the main pokegirl mm brings us a ash/pokegirl dynamic worth watching again

What gets me is all the promotion the anime did for Amour even outside of the anime, like the posters, the Candy girl song, the advertisements and baiting previews, etc.

Honestly it seems a bit mean spirited. They've never done a big shipping like this before and to drop it easily at the end of a saga is just disappointing. I feel sorry for the young kids/girls growing up with XY espeically. You'd think young kids wouldn't care about romance but all these Pokeshippers online over the last decade were the original kid fanbase when Kanto was airing, so they liked romance as kids so today's kids liking Amour will be the same.
