Here's my current Nuzlocke, that I call "Gen-locke"

Rules are in the pic, but basically - standard nuzlocke rules apply except when you play Gen VI, you only use pokemon introduced in that generation. This is to make me try Pokemon I wouldn't use otherwise.

Same can be applied to Gen V, IV etc. etc.

In other news, I am very pleasantly surprised by Vivillon, Patchwork is da real MVP of the team.

Pre-Roxanne update:

Once Roosevelt gets Aqua Tail it'll be a real power house, and I don't feel like Roxanne will be much of a problem with a team that's 2/3rds strong against her, but I worry for how Brawly will go if I don't get a good psychic catch in Dewford.

Merkel died to that double battle with the twins before Rustboro, got leech seeded and then was crit by their Lotad and survived with 4 hp before I could switch her out.

Oh yeah I missed out on my Route 116 encounter, was a Skiddo though so it wasn't a total loss.

Here's my post-Brock update and first picture for this run.

Shogoki, the world's most unfortunate Staryu, continued its streak of rotten luck through an extended struggle with a Hypnosis/Confuse Ray/Substitute Vulpix that never missed and always lasted 5 turns on each status.

My pulls have been utterly abysmal, and considering my last team, which had a Houndour, fell to Rival's Smoochum in Cerulean, I'm a little worried. Hopefully I pull a Solrock in Mt. Moon so I can grind up and oneshot that sassy little shit with a Rock Throw.

Fingers crossed for some luck this time.

Just started a Pokemon White Nuzlocke. Picked up Tepig and first catch was a Lillipup.

Seems promising so far.

Actually the encounter rates for Zigzagoon and Poochyena are pretty much swapped between R/S and Emerald. It's still a problem though, so you should probably just restart with dupes clause if you don't want a party of Dark types that don't learn a second STAB move until almost level 50.

Hey guys, this is my first ever fully committed Nuzlocke (Omega Ruby) so I haven't given myself many of the stricter rules this time round, but I will on my next run which I plan on doing in Heart Gold.

Anyway here's my team, I've just gotten to the Weather Institute and Funguy is already pulling his weight, despite being my route 119 encounter. Got super duper lucky with an Adament Magikarp as soon as I got the old rod in Dewford town, so Kipper is obviously a total power house. Tesla was a pretty safe slot to fill as I went straight to New Mauville after getting surf.

Hope you guys don't think I'm a pussy for not playing with all the hardcore rules, like I said this is my first ever real Nuzlocke.

Minora, the hero of heroes, clung to life after a second Ice Punch from that Smoochum with a single hit point. This is AFTER the first one dropped her to 30/60. And both her Rock Throws hit. It was a calculated risk, but I couldn't switch anyone into that Smoochum and expect them to do any better. Menma just lacked the power to get a KO even if she survived two hits. Praise this moon, honestly.

In other news, the world's unluckiest Staryu, Shogoki, finally met with defeat. A critical Rock Throw from this Sudowoodo. As if a Pokemon as unfortunate as Shogoki could go any other way. Filling its shoes is the fairly weak and likely to be replaced eventually Shinji the Horsea.

Misty and the rest of Bill's posse lie ahead of me. I'm further than before.

Nonon the Dugtrio died to a Surf from a Raichu THREE FUCKING LEVELS LOWER that she failed to OHKO. Shamefur dispray, she will not be missed, do not pay respects.

Minora fills her place once again, but I'm feeling like my team needs something to spice it up. We already have a Psychic type in my dear Fubuki (who amusingly got Ice Punch upon evolution- did not intend for the name to fit THAT well), and I could use a Flyer to help out with this gym. Should I train up the Taillow or Pidgey to take up a spot?

There's big level jumps in certain places that have fucked me up a few times. It doesn't help that the admin I fought recently had a Mew, Celebi and Jirachi. Plus a lot of Pokemon know some attacks that they normally can't learn so I've been surprised by a few things. In the last battle a Granbull killed my Forretress with flare blitz.

But I will admit that I have made plenty of dumb mistakes which could have prevented some deaths.

Run is going pretty nicely so far, the only significant loss was a Slowpoke who I had invested a lot of time and energy into in the hope of evolving him into a Slowking which I have never used.

Hooter II is a total bro like his Platinum predecessor, Togetic is more than handy but the real find from this run has been Zombie the Parasect, a really fun pokemon to raise and I love his overworld sprite, seeing him run around with my is extra comfy.

I am trying to have as deep a roster as possible to prepare me for any future decimations but I would love it if I could take the bulk of my current party to the elite four, will be looking to evolve Rocky the Onix and Buddy the Eevee (Umbreon/Espeon... when he evolves, he evolves) but then I'm going to be faced with a very difficult choice as I will want to bring the red gyarados into the mix. Whitey or Hooter II will need to make way....

Not even post-Roxanne, but post-Brawly, things are going smoothly this run. Roosevelt plays roughly and carries a big stick, practically soloing the first two gyms. I took Bismark out of the team because I was afraid of having three guys SE to fighting in that gym but I rarely ever had to use anyone other than Roosevelt/Elizabeth. Onward to Slateport, and hopefully the point where my Nuzlocke ended last time.

Also I've been super lucky with water type encounters so far that I almost regret choosing Mudkip. That Clauncher is Mild

btw, this reminds me how much easier it is to get a balanced team when you choose the Fire type starter. Grass types are usually rather easy to find early game and Water types are fucking everywhere, while Fire types usually only exist in a few places, usually later in the game.

So far this run has been disastrous, self destruct and crit galore.

It's been a while since I've had this much fun with pokemon though, usually I speed toggle most of the game except gym battles so I don't get bored, but the game's been pretty enjoyable without it. I guess it helps that I didn't spend any time grinding this far.
