How do you guys deal with odd prices?

People are not going to give up a two garchomps for one SS pack, but people will not give one SS pack for one garchomp. If I'm learning correctly, that means the actual price is closer to 1.5 SS packs per garchomp.

Since I want 2, I don't feel like posting 2 SS pack for 3 garchomp. Do you just trade close to the value and then try to trade the extra back or get some lower value boosters or?

Bad cards in this game are just that: bad cards. Since they are trade locked, it's not even like you can trade them or anything. Yeah, consider the lesson well learned, but in the end, buying boosters for the current sets that contain cards that are still useful is a much more solid investment of tokens as far as trade locked cards go.

You missed a critical part of that post.

Eventually, you will have everything you can reasonably trade for. No amount of tokens will bring you closer.
But you won't be able to trade for those promos. Your collection will be incomplete. You'll be hardlocked out of fun decks simply because you wanted to have three extra chances at pulling a Shaymin - which you wouldn't have, and which you will eventually have several playsets of.

And most importantly, it's not like you only get shitty promos. You got three CoL packs, which have some pretty critical Legacy cards in them.

Each pack may contain cards that you won't have to trade for. And thus, speed up their way out of there. Where the promo packs have nothing for them.

I'm genuinely surprised he didn't suggest using Lysandre on Garbodor to hit with Rattata, because saying something like that would have cemented him as an absolute retard.

But actually analyzing Evolutions Raticate, it's pretty obvious that it won't do well. The only relevant decks that use special energies are M Mewtwo, Ray, Rainbow Road, and Giratina variants, and they each run exactly 4 specials. In order for Raticate to actually get an OHKO on any of those decks, there will need to be 3-4 specials in the discard. That's completely unrealistic, even in a game where your opponent isn't respecting Raticate's damage and discarding them willy-nilly. You don't even see all four DCEs in a NORMAL game, much less get them in the discard even if your opponent is running some autistic 4-Enhanced build.

And if your opponent is running either M Gardevoir, Scizor, Yveltal, or Volcanion, you literally cannot do damage.

The card's premise is fine. Like the video alluded to, it's very similar to a card that previously saw play. Unfortunately Plasma isn't around to make it worth running and it's not going to be hitting for any weaknesses unless you're also running some eeveelutions. It simply isn't the time to release this card. But who knows, the format could be fairly different by this time next year, where Raticate is still likely to be in standard.

I always reccomend people to get pic related when they are starting out in Standard.
They dont all go in all the decks but they are the base of every current standard deck.

2 Shaymin
1 Escape Rope
1 Super Rod
4 Trainers Mail
4 Ultra Ball
4 VS Seeker
2 Lysandre
2 N
4 Sycamore
2 Float Stone

These go in ALL of my decks no matter what.

If the deck is EX heavy (most of the decks in the format are) I add a copy of Hoopa.

Then I either chose between adding 2-2 Garbodor and bumping Float Stones to 3 or adding 2 Hex Maniac.

If the deck doesnt run 3 Float Stones and has many tech mons with heavy retreat like Regirock then I add a couple of switches.

If the deck discards many energies like Volcanion-EX or Greninja BREAK I add a copy of Fisherman.

If the deck runs megas I add a copy of Skyla.

If the deck attackes uses a basic + dce like Xerneas or damages depending on the ammount of energy like Yveltal-EX and Mega Mewtwo-EX then I add 4 DCE.

Stadiums vary too much to suggest a specific one. Fairy Garden, Faded Town, Silent Lab, Forest of Giant Plants, Rough Seas, Scorched Earth, Sky Field, Shrine of Memories are all useful. Decks ussualy run 3-4 copies of them or 2-3 copies + Delinquent.
Owning this cards will make deckbuilding easier since once you decided and get you main attacks and tech mons you will only have to get a couple of rogue trainers (like hammers or ffb) to finish your deck.

Been doing shit like pic related for the whole week, funniest one was maybe Mandibuzz with Wide lens + Vaporeon/Jolteon/Flareon on the bench for quatro typed 60dmg snipe attack allowing me to KO Shaymin and few others and 2hko Volcanion etc.

Flareon is a bad attacker.

It does only 20 more damage than Baby Volcanion but it gives up 2 prizes.

By removing one Flareon and adding another Volcanion you have the option of doing 1HKO to megas with Baby Volcanion (100 + 10 + 120 = 230) and still have the option of charging up a Flareon-EX in the bench for a late game sweep.

Pokemon Ranger is only used for:

Regice doesnt affect you since you attack with Baby Volcanion.
Glaceon doesnt affect you since you dont have evos.

Jolteon kinds of fucks you up but its not used AT ALL in the tcgo meta.

I can't stop playing night march. My winrate is, like 60%-70% and I don't have a single EX in that deck.

Almost any other viable Expanded/Not-banned in standard deck requires weeks worth of fucking grind in EXes and that's not counting Shaymins.
The moment I switch to anything else (I have a couple of Steelixes and 1 Sceptile) it turns into an evening of getting completely fucking destroyed by people who set up their shit in a single turn with 4 fucking Shaymins, 8 fullart Mewtwos and Yvetals and shit. Then I get into trenches where I can stay with a shitty 50% winrate or switch back to Night march and get a 20 win winstreak.

People treat me like shit. They start bitching and talking trash the moment they see types in my deck. Granted, it's super fun to fuck up a cocky cunt who goes "GG" after setting up his Trevenants and Hoopas 2 turns into the game and still loses, but still...

How many ariados do I need to get a shaymin?

Assuming you're able to get Ariados x4 <-> SS x1, and that 1 SS = 1.5 RS.

Shaymin = 25 RS (roughly)
25 RS = 38 SS
38 SS = 152 Ariados.

If you're going with AO instead of SS, the ratio would be 2 AO = 1 RS, so you'd need 200 Ariados.

You'd also need some additional packs starting out to get your hands on the Adiaros. My assumed pack values ratios and value of Shaymin might be off, but in short: you'd need a lotta spicy spiders.

I just made my first deck ever for PTCGO. The only experience I have with card games is Hearthstone, and that's significantly different from this.

Did I do a good job? I won my first game by just getting a Delphox on the field with a Double Colorless, 3 Fire Energy, and a Float Stone.

It's a good start. Since your strategy is centred around Delphox, you should add another copy and more Ultra Ball/Rare Candy so you can get it out quicker and more consistently. For support, cut the evos and Charizard, add Entei and Volcanion if you have it. For items, look at decklists to get a general idea. I will say that with Delphox, you don't need so many N/Sycamore; use supporters like Skyla and Teammates that allow you to draw specific cards.

since you are a beginner I try to help you a bit, since I kind of had the same deck when I started.
If you can buy yourself the lugia fates collide deck with coins from the shop, if you have some blacksmith put him in there, (if you play in expanded) otherwise you could get yourself (if they finally put it up) the xy steam siege deck with volcanion in it (which is a pretty good card) and the other delphoxes from the lugia theme deck - then put some rare candys in if you have - if not play some evosoda+ wally. also check up if you have a VS seeker.
also invest in roaring sky decks to get yourself some shaymin ex.
throw torkoal, the birds, charizard, buffalo, kangashkan and the horses out - get in there at least 13 energys - you can maybe put in some miltank and throw out the escape rope and maybe put in one more switch. also put in some skyla.
get ride of the double colorless energys, also add 2 more ultra balls and bring in 3 scorched earths (then proceed further and earn yourself some nice boosterpacks to make a better deck)

This deck's been doing okay on ladder. I don't think I've settled into my proper mmr or however this game works since I've only just started playing Standard (my first deck) and been mainly beating people with random thrown-together decks.

Well, Yugioh's power creep is minimal. There're a lot of decks that are over a decade old that would be competitive in the current meta, but are only held back by a banlist because they want to sell new product. There would be no reason to buy new sets if you could just play the same deck for years.

In Pokemon it's the same thing. They might scale up the numbers from time to time, but that's it. The abilities or attack effects aren't any better. Blastoise from Boundaries Crossed (2012) is Blastoise from Base Set (1999), Vileplume from Ancient Origins (2015) is Dark Vileplume from Team Rocket (2000). Garbodor from Dragons Exalted (2012) is Muk from Fossil (1999). M Rayquaza-EX from Roaring Skies (2015) is Wigglytuff from Base Set. Really powerful cards from early sets like Computer Search, Oak, Itemfinder, Goop Gas Attack, etc, all got modern equivalents but with a harsh, once-per-turn clause.

So instead of a banlist, Pokemon sells new products with rotations. But if we look at the Expanded format, the oldest format with 24 sets in it, we see that decks all across the timeline (2012-today) are successful, indicating that nothing's really changed since the beginning of the BW era. And as an aside, S&M doesn't plan to change that since their new mechanic doesn't seem all that meta-defining so far.

Believe it or not, this Rayquaza EX is just an example of a decent card: low resources for okay damage. 95% of the cards printed in this game fuck up this formula by requiring way too many resources or doing poor damage, or both even. But this Rayquaza EX is actually good and not just decent because there's a consistent engine for accelerating Lightning energy. This increases its damage ceiling making it much more viable.

But this isn't the norm now, this has always been the norm since the TCG was created: either do decent damage for low resources or disrupt your opponent from playing at all. We still do this, but the numbers are just higher. That's all.
