I recently bought Super Mystery Dungeon, people told me it was good but so far it was kinda meh, when does the game start getting good? The only other Mistery dungeon game I have played is Red Rescue Team and compared to that this one feels really slow and kinda easy. I'm seven hours in but I still feel I haven't progressed much and the dungeons are still really short.

Oh, and I don't think dungeons go much longer than 20 floors in the story. Far into the post game (about 60-80 hours of gameplay) you get 40-floor dungeons, though I've postponed them due to them not being necessary, and me finding them tedious. They're probably available much earlier.

Glad to know it actually gets better. I don't dislike it but I feel like I'm not progressing towards anything by completing missions. In Rescue team I felt that it really did something,By running the dungeons I got money to unlock new friend areas or buy tms, stocked up on useful supplies for the next big story mission, now I feel like I'm showered in consumables and new team members, and doing missions only serves to move the game forward by one day.

You're about halfway (or more) into the game, everything after speeds by. If you've been having trouble in-dungeons or haven't bothered using items right now, it'll only get worse for you.
100%ing the game (recruiting everyone and "completing" every dungeon) only took me about 110 or so hours, maybe a bit less.

The good things about Gates to Infinity's plot are
Virizion, Emolga, Hydreigon and Keldeo
Gurdurr's, Virizion's, Keldeo's, Umbreon's, Espeon's and Munna's stories
the scene before going to glacier palace
the NPCs sublpots
They are details one may not pay attention to if they expect something similar to the other games, and if you take these details away it's the most generic plot yet.

The fugitive arc was so good that the rest hand-waved plot couldn't really live up to it. Explorers wasn't perfect but it ended strong, so people remember it more fondly.

Just as a question, are there any sort of fanmade Mystery Dungeon games, or any way to make a fanmade Mystery Dungeon game? I've had an idea in my head for one since Gen 6 came out, and while Super was great, it still kinda let me wanting another Mystery Dungeon game that took full advantage of the Pokemon Gen 6 gave us.

I mean, beyond the Pokemon of Life and Death, we got a Pokemon that can control minds, a cursed sword that can possess people, a one man luchadore bird, and a starter trio that could've ben a perfect team.

Pretty weird that they'd do all that for a Pokemon that doesn't appear at all ingame. I guess they made Sunkern an NPC in Super just so they could finally make use of those portraits.

Just set up my run, doing Sunkern+Azurill because if I'm going to have no limbs, my partner has to suffer too. At Stony Cave right now, and Sunkern didn't learn anything when leveling to 7. Not sure if this game uses BW or BW2 movesets, so I'll see if she tries to learn anything at level 9, since I'm pretty sure she gets Ingrain in BW at that level.

• Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Mitigation [8/10] Mature themes. Has an interesting backstory. Worth the read.

• Pokemon: Rising Shadows [7.5/10] Fun, comedic (can get very cringey) writing with some mature themes.

• Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Victory Fire [9/10] Biggest comic out of the list. Most mainstream. Updates regularly.

• The Heroes Guild - [6.5/10] Comedy comic. Bit cringe but still good read.

• Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Tales of Elysium [8/10] Probably best art. Very mature themes.

• Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team [10/10] Personal Favourite. For General audiences. Excellent Comedy. Scarce updates, but when they are they are big. Probably the best characters and writing out of all comics on list.

• Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Soul [4.5/10] Artist has kind of stopped updated (As of post, last update was 4 months ago). Hasn't really gotten anywhere after 54 pages. Writing is a bit cringe.

• GiGi's Nuzlocke Runs: Exploreres of Sky [7/10] Haven't read it fully, but the first 3 chapters are great so far. Mature themes. The one of two completed comics on this list.

The author told me the start of the comic is pretty trash quality, but i personally don't mind. As of chapter 3, this comic is so far good. Has alot of names to remember which is annoying. Art is good. Grey-scale colour scheme. For a maturer Audience.

Well, at least for there to be consequences rather than a complete fix. It's a matter of poofing everything better without the lead-up to do so, as has always been a problem in fiction. Feeling good just isn't worth jeopardizing the story's integrity and coherence. If a character were to lose an eye or an arm, there shouldn't be a dues ex machina for them to recover it or at all be restored to the version which was whole. And if I did end up fixing Vallion, there would have to be some powerful drive as to why that's a pure victory after all.

Gave Sunkern a more accurate moveset and got myself a Sun Stone. I doubt anything will happen, but I'll try using it on her in the postgame to see if anything weird occurs, like the game crashing or evolving into something crazy.

I'm still confused as to why she got cut anyway, since she has a whole slew of portraits unlike other non-playable Pokemon, and her levelup growths, facial expressions on the model, and animations seem to be fine. All they'd have to do is give her a proper movelist.

Dunsparce seems like an oddball choice out of all Pokemon that could be Emolga's friend. While Sunkern's also a strange choice, it's still more fitting than Dunsparce, since flying squirrels are known to collect nuts/seeds, and Sunkern's considered to be the weakest Pokemon in the main series, tying into Emolga's friend's habit of contantly screwing up.
The unused portraits Sunkern has in Gates are somewhat similar to the ones Dunsparce has, especially since Sunkern has a shouting portrait, something most minor NPCs usually don't have. The fact that it's considered a "special portrait" rather than a usual shout portrait could mean he'd use this when he confesses his love to Virizion, since him spitting and the zoomed in portrait makes the scene more dramatic and shows his emotions better.
As for why he got replaced in the end, that be because Sunkern is able to evolve. While the player and partner are unable to evolve, the game might let you evolve anyone outside of that duo at any point. It's notable that every single plot ally that you get is either at their final form or cannot evolve at all. If Sunkern was in, they would have to draw up portraits and create cutscene animations for Sunflora in case you evolved him at any point in the game, or completely lock him out of evolving, something most people wouldn't want. I'm digging Elysium so far, despite issues with the pacing. Having it dip inbetween Mature Themes and PG jokes pleasantly surprised me.

Victory Fire is pretty neat itself, with the story taking its time to expand out in the wilderness. Plus it builds on RT, so that's a neat twist itself.

It's a bit lacking in some aspects. No special episodes or anything like that, and the plot's not too great. All mons are available, but you won't be able to get two or more of the same species unless they're a starter, have a sex/form difference, or you evolve a pre-evolved version of them, which also means you lose the prevo forever. Recruiting mons is easy now, which is good if you have a lot of favorites you want to use, but it's not too great if you're one of those people who liked the challenge of recruiting everyone in RT. Also the break system exists, which is one of the worst features in the entire series.
It's still a pretty good game, the dungeon crawling alone is far better than Sky's.

Almost always does the RP get forced into an IRC or other type of independent chat room, or become disbanded entirely if you're lucky. Even with a promising start and several involved individuals, you'll find that a large amount of ERPers will inevitably flock to the function and infect it with the same kind of faggotry every time. What they do isn't inherently poisonous, but when you're trying to have a legitimate scene when people have got boners and leave the topic to go bone in whispers despite the rules of the RP, you would have done better with re-purposing a pathfinder campaign and cracked hard down on any sexual tension that ever happens. I'm actually in several Pokemon games, but the real problem you'll have about running an RP game on /vp/ is that you are running an RP game on /vp/.

As a GM, it would be hard to wrangle so many people together to do a simple dungeon crawl, let alone do the mechanics of statting a town and upgrading it.

HOWEVER, you can get a little bit of space for stuff like that here.

I have a very faint idea of what you're trying to propose..not too sure of the implication since I was merely talking about General shitposting and the like, but I'll jot down the order of operations I've saved for a quest I positioned for on their board

As it stands, the setting in its whole - as would affect the creative process in large - would tailor along a frantic reemergence of nature after a few centuries when the world was synced into a blistering rocky wasteland, and the centric location would be a small spurt of land, a moderately sized Oasis paradise slowly expanding over the world to procure it. There'd be a few significant archetypes - maybe even legendaries- hinged on deluding the process but mostly wild bandits/ruffians.

The town itself would be the staple of a collection of seven scattered in and around the oasis, depended for farming, treatment, education, and stocking local forces/guilds under a hefty sum, something akin to a frontier or Pierre Town in eighteenth century America.

Interesting characters would be a mayor Heracross, known as Crosshera, to be a sturdy and reliable gentleman prone to great ambition, plus a loyal friend to those he holds dear. A furret, known as Smit to be the local mailman and delivery boy. A slakoth known as Fills who never quite leaves his town post but still manages the farm somehow. A volcarona who is a fierce crime boss in the city and later becomes an antogonist, hurts people she thinks loathes bug types and as a consequence has ironically brought that loathing into fruition. There's more I have yet to decide, but that's the crisp of what I have so far.

Town would function under the hat work of its constituent chain of small hamlets, where in return they hire security, dispatch water, seeds, mine out minerals, demonstrate scientific discoveries and about any other application I've neglected to mention. (1/2)

It still heals the whole party, but it doesn't restore quite as much HP as it does in Super, only about 50-80 HP depending on the weather. Super's is almost overkill, it's about as powerful as Lifeup Omega from EarthBound, but without any of the downsides of using it.

Also found it weird how in the PMD series, the two moves act like a full party heal, whereas in the main series it only heals the user and is functionally identical to Synthesis, which still only heals the user in PMD.

Gave it a few more tests with some other mons, healing is calculated by percent of max HP. Bayleef/the images on the right show how much HP gets healed if a mon has 100HP.
The move's amazing if your mons all have high HP from Donuts, Life Seeds or Sitrus Berries, otherwise it's just good, not overpowered. Once your teammates have 257HP or more is when it starts to heal about 100HP in normal weather conditions.

Well, I've never enjoyed mlp, even before people got all into it. I dunno, if you truly recommend it then maybe I can give it a shot - I mean, I'm posting on a board about Pokemon, so I guess it's not too different.

A three-man team instead of just you and your partner. Other games pull off full teams well, like DQVII with Kiefer and Maribel being your early party members, both with their own unique view on things. Having a second partner would make things more interesting and extra CUTE!
Also make the gameplay even better than Super's. Fix some of the flaws it has, but keep all the good points.

Does the main character have a definable personality in any of the games? I know they limit the MC's dialogue so that players can relate better, but they show the character's thoughts often enough that it seems like some personality might shine through the vagueness at some point.

Started playing Super, how exactly does move growth work? Do I just keep spamming the same move for it to get stronger? My Bubble seems more powerful than Water Pulse right now. How do I raise the PP of non-attacking moves?

Yes. You have to use the move on an enemy, though, don't expect your move to get stronger by attacking nothing.

You buy PP drinks at Cofagrigus' shop, which raises the PP of your last used move by 2 (4 if you hold a water looplet and throw the drink at mons who both have that move)
