The only good episode in the entire league was part 2 of Ash vs Shota. Part 1 was a fucking retarded mess, the entire Slaking bit was the dumbest shit I've ever seen.

Ash vs Alain was well animated but was basically the Slaking fight all the way through.

There is no justification for completely skipping everything up to semis, especially when Ash fucking lost anyway, so they basically skipped what got him to second place.

Here's how I would fix the league.

First, make it around 10 episodes. That's a good number. Early league was rushed like heck, needed to be spread out a lot more.

First episode can be like the beginning ceremony of the league. It introduces all of the league competitors.

Give Trevor a fighting chance. He's obviously gonna get fucked by Memezard X, but at least give Y some nice action and show that he's cool too.

Show more of the Ash vs Astrid fight. The whole 3v3 would be ideal, but if they couldn't do that, then at least show the entirety of Hawlucha vs Mega Absol.

Make the Ash vs Shota fight a Top 8 Battle. Alan will still be who he fights in the finals, but make Ash fight some meme trainer with meme pokemon in the Top 4. The viewers can be introduced to them in the first episode. Make it look like this Top 4 fuck is the Ash killer only for Ash to BTFO them and make the finals even more hype.

And of course, make Meme Frog win.

That Furfrou fuck can stay I guess. His purpose was entirely useless with Ash losing but it'll be ok if he wins.

The league wasn't rushed, we saw more of Ash battling, Team Galactic were built up through most of the series instead of just the least part, Ash lost to a worthy opponent and not some chuuni cunt who only edgefags like, Dawn didn't have a series-wide crush that she did nothing about and went straight into contests instead of wasting a year deciding what to do and having to rush the ending in a way that showed rivals getting their ribbons/keys offscreen.

All XY did better were the VS. screens, recurring background characters, Clemont and Bonnie and Team Rocket not being in every episode, though they're usually just as bad here as they were in DP when they do show up.

Tierno vs Shota had shitty animation and spent 70% of the fucking fight overexplaining it. It's a common thing in shonen but this fight went overboard, and if it was paced better it could have made room for other fights.
More to the point Tierno literally didn't even use his rhythm strategy. He danced while nothing was happening, but he did not incorporate it into his attacks or maneuvers at all. It was shit.

I'm pretty sure Staraptor beat Gastrodon, I can't remember, but that's besides the point. DP wasn't perfect but it was leagues better than XY's league. Only Torterra truly jobbed, Ash exhibited way more strategy, and it was far more emotionally driven with more on the line because of the rivalry and Infernape's story.

How does spinning prevent it from slicing through the ground? You're implying any sort of resistance would stop it from spinning when that isn't true. It kept spinning when it sliced through leaf storm and when it was pushing Abomasnow into the ceiling. The only way the spirit shuriken couldn't do all these things is if it was actually weaker, and this was never adequately explored. And again, that's just one way to deal with blast burn.
