well since you are on such a low firmware version you could install a9lh (takes 1-2h) which allows you to fully hack your 3ds, meaning you can pirate games, update to the latest firmware version, never lose homebrew access and still play online.

But if you don't feel comfortable around pcs that's fine (most of it is just moving files to an sd card though).


And learning pkhex is pretty easy, Gen6 has a inbuilt legality check that tells you what you did wrong

Arigato injector-kun.

Dear /ekx/ bros, I am somewhat in a bind, need some advice:

I've a 9.2 3DS, aka the super old build that allows for easy injecting without installing any custom firmware or homebrew etc. However it's old as heck, and I've been preventing any software updates on it since ORAS by turning off the wireless.

It's really good for traditional injecting, but the problem is that I can't get online at all and have no access to my pokebank. It used to be that I can turn on the internet briefly in order to do so, but now it requires a system update to use bank. This means that I can no longer transfer injects into my bank UNTIL I am sure that I have everything ready, and am ready to do a system update to get online access again.

The main problem is that I want to get a new 3ds console and system transfer to it so I can access the bank. But this means that the old 3ds console has to be updated as well in order to perform the sys transfer, and would lose access to injections.

So what is the best course of action in order to preserve the old build yet get access to the pokebank? I don't think there's a way. It seems that the best options are

a) Get all I need, update old system, transfer to new console.
b) Keep old, play SM on new, lose access to bank.
c) Some other better options you guys can think of?

You need to buy a new 3ds xl when S&M comes out. Get the combo. Spoil yourself senpai.


Do NOT update your 9.2. Go to >>>/vg/hbg and install the custom firmware (cfw) on that bad boy. You don't need to access pokebank before S&M is out.

I assume you have a cartridge and not saving your game to the actual console, right?

you can install a9lh on your 3ds (so a cfw) which get it into fully unlocked status... meaning you can pirate games, run homebrew(inject, even with your old method of using the browser for qr if you want, which btw is not the fastest method anymore) and most importantly you can be on the most up to date firmware version and play online.

If you get a new 3ds you can then do a system transfer to taht new console and if you do it right you can keep your fully unlocked status on the new 3ds.

Hacking your 9.2 ds takes 1-2h, once you do the system transfer you will have to repeat the process (read up a guide before you do the transfer, there's some things you need to do first)

Thank you so much. I haven't been keeping up with the cfw developments and was too stupid and lazy to understand its significance. As a lay person all I knew was that 9.2 was golden and I had to keep it that way.

Just to clarify, so it means I can keep my 9.2 build and have a hacked version of the latest system too at the same time, right?

I've just dowloaded the Pokebank and I'm transfering all my mons on it so I can start over a Nuzlocke.
There's a few pokémons you guys injected me in the lot. Will it cause any problem if I put them in the bank ? Or will they be recognized as legal ?

keeping 2 versions was the old way of doing it... the issue with that was that you had to reboot your console whenever you wanted to use homebrew or go online, and if you updated the wrong "system" you'd be fucked.

With a9lh you basically unlock the system in a way that you can always run the latest firmware and still have all the access that previously was only possible on 9.2

That means no dual booting, you get to keep everything that made 9.2 great, but you only have 1 firmware (the latest that lets you play online)
