If you can, get some pencils with a harder lead that will draw lighter for your lines you intend to erase. That way they don't show as much when you color over em.

You can also get softer lead which will make it easier for you to make your dark heavy lines that you favor without digging so deep into the paper.

If you get the money, try out a Copic marker set. It's so worth it and they're very forgiving. You can push the ink around to help work around mistakes.

I sometimes miss the set from pic related. But money can be a problem.

Using the same lead as a every day pencil is the problem. There's different kinds of pencils that might suit your needs better.

Also if you used the copics on the mixed media, they bleed because it's the wrong kind of paper for them. There is some more resistant paper that works well.

Visit an art store sometime! It's really fun and they're usually really willing to give good info. Since what you use isn't too niche it won't be too hard.

I use Sai, though I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to it. Too afraid to use Photoshop atm because it seems a bit complicated, and because I don't have a tablet or mouse to draw with to maximize the full potential of these great programs (just a 4H pencil and a bic pen because I'm a bit of a poorfag).
