I advise against spending any dust before you're lvl 25 and only for a good justification. IV are less important than movesets too so I don't think you should spend jack shit on it unless you get Hydro Pump regardless of whether it's 100 or not.

wait, I made the mistake of prematurely evolving and I regret it. Hoard candies and stardust, use the Lucky egg EXP evo grind with Pidgeys, Weedles and Rattatas. Once you get to lvl20, evolve the best mons you hatch, they have higher CP and by that time you should have enough candy to evolve most basic pokemon to stage 2

Magneton isn't bad, mine does well against a variety of Pokemon. As the only Steel type in the game right now it resists almost everything and despite the double weakness to ground it's not a problem because nobody uses Ground or even Fighting. As long as you don't put it up against Arcanine it'll be okay, especially if you have both Electric moves. Mine regularly shits on Gyarados or any flying types, Slowbro, Lapras, hell pretty much any Water type outside of the very powerful Vaporeon takes a beating. What it lacks in HP it makes up for with amazing typing (in the current game) and STAB electric attacks, with decent attack and high defense to back it up. I love my Magneton and remember if they do get to later generations Magnezone will be a force to be reckoned with.

Lately I agree it's been fucking me. With lures from my experience you always get one good, or "good" pokemon. Whether it's Koffing, Raticate, Dodrio, or Blastoise, one of them is usually good.

But with incense sometimes I'll go a half hour driving (so more spawns) and the best shit I'll pick up is a Squirtle or Pinsir.

The game would just be much more fun if incense and lures actually gave you a little better shit every once in awhile.

It depends on your options, if you have no good fighting type Pokemon like I do (because none spawn in my area at all) Pinsirs with Rock Smash/Submission have niche uses. They can be contenders against Lapras, I've been able to take them down 1 on 1 with mine even at a CP disadvantage with some luck. Taking normal damage from Lapras' attacks while dealing super effective is useful. They're also okay against any Normal types you might encounter but work well as a team against Normal's high defenses. Unfortunately Pinsir's Bug type moves are also not very good either, and he's only really useful against Pokemon double weak to Bug like the popular Exeggutor, but even then there are better choices like a Bug Bite/Bug Buzz Venomoth or a Nidoking with Poison Jab/Megahorn.

Also my area is littered with Pinsir so I've caught a ton of them and Rock Smash/Submission is the rarest combination for Pinsir. I get Fury Cutter/X-Scissor the most, then any combination of Fury Cutter/Rock Smash with Vice Grip is next.

It works for me in that I'll get more spawns as I'm driving 25-30 MPH. I was saying I just can't seem to get very many rare spawns while it's active even though I'm getting anywhere between 12-15 spawns per use.

The grind between 20-25 and 25-30 means that a lot of the time the game can become boring without the rare level up items. Most of the time I'm supplementing my gym earned pokecoins with a quick .99 cent purchase for Lucky Eggs to level up faster and sometimes lures/incense just to have a little fun and roll the RNG dice.

But yeah most of the time I'm just at a point where my pokemon inventory is getting really full and I don't have enough coins to buy a Lucky Egg within a day or two so I just drop a dollar and buy a Lucky Egg.

I literally spent all day with a friend going from one side of the city to the next searching for pokestop hot spots. Finally found a fucking Charmander and caught over 9000 Pidgeys.

He rides a bike with a large batter pack on the back of it, has a phone mount on his handlebars, and runs a scanner at all times while biking around town catching things.
This is all in tandem with the fact that he is probably about 100 pounds overweight, smells like shit, and has worn the exact same clothes every time we have run into him. Due to this last fact me and my buddies have come to calling him "Orange Shirt Guy"

On a few occasions when a rare pokemon spawns on the nearby he purposefully directs people on the wrong way. I casually point people in the correct direction after this but I am sure there are many occasions where I or someone else who is scanning is not there to stop him from being a prick

my favorite encounter though is one about 2 weeks ago.
It was around midnight and I saw some rare pokemon out around my house. I went for a short walk outside and took a glance down the street. I saw the classic orange shirt and shitty bike coming from 5 blocks away. The pokemon in question was in some dudes backyard. He biked right up to me. Asked me if I had gotten it and I told him that I hadn't due to the position and that I was just gonna move on. He, undaunted, puffed out his man boobs and told me that it wasn't going to stop him. He then proceeded to trespass and rolled over the fence into this family's backyard. I started walking off not really giving a shit then about 1 min later he sloshes back over like the bag of lard he is and triumphantly shows me what he caught yelling at me that he is truly the best pokemon player.
