That said, good to see Pikachu's still at level 500 by the end of the series, single handedly taking on two base 600's and kicking their asses. If only any one else had pulled their fucking weight, or Ash had actually spent time training everyone else instead of just focusing on the fucking frog.

BW was a return to OS's formula because that gen was a "reboot" that turned Ash into a compelte retard. They also hadn't thought of deaging the then-older-than-ash female protagonists. When BW bombed they went back to the female protag with Serena and deaged her.

Mallow is supposed to be compared to Brock/Cilan/Clemont, not the main girl. Chicken doesn't even have to be deaged to join the cast.

Ash's Kalos team was his strongest regional team by far. It's just that whoever's the corporate head(s) at TV Tokyo who has the final say in the anime told them to make Ash lose. Ash had every right to win, but he simply isn't allowed to.

That's incorrect. TPC actually has the final say in anything Pokemon, including the anime - they just choose to stay out of it for the most part and let TV Tokyo do their thing. The exceptions are that Pikachu needs to stay with Ash (marketing forever) and that Ash can never win a regional, which is TPC's doing, not TV Tokyo.

Ash can afford to have two fire types, especially when they're as good as Charizard and Infernape. If you don't want a type overlap though, probably go with Donphan or Krookodile.
