I only got back into the anime because of the Ash will finally win foreshadowing. I hadn't watched religiously since gen 3 on Kids WB.

I don't care whether Satoshi wins or loses a league. Pocket Monsters has always, always been more about the journey than the destination, and when I look back on XY(&Z) years from now I'm going to remember the 3+ years leading up to the league more than I'm going to remember the league itself. A single battle at the tail end of the series doesn't somehow make the enjoyment I've felt all these years go away.

Alan's Charizard won against 10 consecutive battles against megas, one of which belonged to an E4 member. Then Alan started catching and training the strongest pokemon he could find for the League.

Watching the raw finally, this episode had really fucking great animation. While it didn't have the speed or hype of Ash vs Shota, I think the animation trumps that one slightly. The shading, level of detail and angles were just on a different level from anything I've seen from this show before.

Still, will not watch anymore of this shit after XY&Z is over. I like the anime, but it was finally proven beyond any shadow of a doubt that hope for a good conclusion is fruitless, and while it's also obvious the executives literally doesn't give a shit about what I think, it feels almost personal to me as a lifelong fan, and I'm no longer gonna be content with being fucked in the ass for two more decades.
