I used Nox. I didnt do anything too crazy. If I teleported somewhere, Id basically wait a day to do it so it looked like it was possible I actually drove or was on a plane to get there and then wait a day to play again to get back. You can probably accumulate 100,000 stardust in an hour at central park and be lucky to spot just one Pokemon in a place that you would actually have to explore.

1st move: bite/dragon breath, both around the same level of good depending on situation, though low power on the defensive
2nd move: 5 charge twister isnt as good as 2 charge dragon pulse or hydro pump, which is probably the best as a STAB one charge and the only water move it gets. honestly twister is supposedly the worst but in a defending gym it isnt terrible, since it charges up and goes off very often, and people just dont know how to dodge it. that being said, hydro pump>dragon pulse>twister.
i would wait until ~level 25-30 to find a higher cp higher iv gyarados. having caught almost 2000 magikarp ive evolved maybe 20 of them and only got twister 3 times. ive also seen 5 in the wild using a tracker, but only got 2 of those

also attack/defense stats were based on an aggregate of atk/spatk and def/spdef stats respectively, so when one of those stats is low the attack in pokemon go is low. alakazam caps at a stupidly low cp because his attack is mediocre when the shitty atk base stat is factored in and his defense base stats are almost nonexistent resulting in super low defense. lastly alakazam had a pretty bad hp base stat, which stamina borrows from in pokemon go. cp scales off of all three of those stats. and there you have it... why alakazam is utter trash

There's really no other way unless you have a car, and ideally a wingman. If it's purely for mileage go out for a drive when your area's traffic gets low and just find a chill block or area to cruise down. Have your wingman shout out any pokemon that spawn on your route so if you need it you can pull over.

Some people say it's hotboy driving like that after dark but I don't see what's the problem explaining to a cop that you're playing a game, that you're not distracted, etc. Even have the music and sound effects loud so he can hear for himself. That's the way to do it.

Anything over 145 with good IVs is doable considering the moveset is what really tends to fuck you. 150-160 CP is ideal though. I evolved a 145 or so into a 1555 so if that's the kind of CP range you'd be happy with feel free. Just grab your nuts, bite down, and pray you don't get Twister. I got double Dragon moves so it's mediocre but not the worst. Nifty for taking out Drgaonite considering I don't have Lapras, or any other good Ice or Fairy types yet.

Finally evolved my second Growlithe (because my first Arcanine had Bite and Bulldoze). And what do you know? Bite + Bulldoze again.

Man, I'm so pissed off. I barely encounter Growlithe, so it's not like I'm going to have another chance to get a good Arcanine soon. There has to be something that manipulates what moves a Pokemon is going to get upon evolution...

so basically, i live near a hotspot restaurant on the water that spawns magikarp regularly (maybe 3 out of the 6 spawn points are karp, and spawn every 20 minutes or so). this restaurant also has 4 pokestops that are constantly lured, which also spit out magikarp half the time. so everyone in my area has a gyarados, or can get one in around 4 hours.

What's the most accurate means of checking IVs? My Oddish is either 29/13 or 26/11, but I have a Gloom I know for sure is 25/12. The sliding bar on silph is hardly accurate to the game's in appearance.

At lvl 30, you start finding Growlithes anywhere from 800 to the late 1000s and he gets an insane boost from evolving, more than twice its CP. So any Growlithe above 1000 immediately goes to 2300 from what I remember whereas a 1200 Ponyta only goes to 1700 or so or a 600 Vulpix goes to 1600.

Lvl 30 is the magic number because that's where wild Pokemon CP caps, same way eggs cap at 20.

You have to play differently because you started late (still only level 10). During the first week of play it was entirely viable to leave a CP 700 Pidgeot as a top gym defender.

Obviously the trick is finding pokemon with good IVs as well as high CP. These typically come from egg hatches. Wait till around level 20 to start getting serious with the IVs and CP and everything. Like if you have enough Staryu candy for an 8 or 900 CP Starmie go for it; odds are you'll be able to farm another 50 candies by the time you hit 20 for an even stronger Starmie. This post is kind of all over the place but you get the point: play the game now for what it is but realize you're way behind the vast majority of players and plan for the future. If a certain pokemon is rare in your area but you finally farm enough candies to evolve it, maybe hold out a little longer to find a higher CP one.

Depends on the mon. If you're using a vaporeon as an attacker for example, then go with the higher atk/def. deoending on your battling skill the stamina stat is trivial. For gym defenders like snorlax and lapras you want the higher stamina ones.

it might look like i'm botting, but no, i actually went to a magikarp spawn 3/4 of the last few weeks since the game came out and sat at a quad lure spot to catch magikarp and wait for dratini spawns. so yeah, i've caught around 2000 magikarp. i've also encountered 5 gyarados, of which 3 fled.

here's a screenshot of the magikarp spawn in question from when i was level 30 around ten days ago. when you can have around 30 to 40 pokemon spawn in one area every 20 minutes, you can power level pretty easily, especially if you camp there for many hours almost every day since release.

Because it doesn't seem to register good/great/excellent throws on them and curveballs are a bitch because they're too close. They also seem like they know exactly when you release the ball to headbutt the shit. I try faking them out with a quick upswipe but then start curving but it still only reacts when the ball is let go. It is not a bug. Niantic tried damage control but no one is getting fooled here. The trick is not to waste your time with high CP shitmon for now. I doubt they'll ever get around to fixing this "bug".

Honestly, it baffles me that they're releasing the bracelet thing end September apparently. It's a pointless accessory, but it would've made a ton of money if it'd been released when the hype was at its peak. By end September, when the weather is bad and when normies have lost all interest, it won't sell at all. I'm pretty sure a lot of preorders will get cancelled.

Same thing happened to me. Checked every god damn karp for good IV's. Used a 98%. He's worse than everything I've encountered. Using his charge move actually does less damage than fast attacking. Fml
