29/37 of the Pokemon I've run into today have broken free and then ran away.

I spent all day farming a park with 9 pokestops and 3 gyms. Why is this game such shit now? Why can't I find anything?

It's not even about being more efficient. Of course its going to be easier and faster to level up and collect mons when you can teleport anywhere while sitting dead still. Rather, this game is built upon playing it while out doing other stuff or moving through the world. Why the hell, if you are sitting behind your computer all day, would you play pokemon go? I am using the same strategy and roughly the same level, I got a Lapras and a Vaporeon + Arcanine in the 1300 range but a lot of my local gyms are being filled up with level 37 botters that have maxed dragonites and other optimal Pokemon.

I figure the dust will be worth it if botters get cleared out, I sprung a little bit when I got to take over some gyms that nobody goes to, but if you're playing the long game and enjoy things stick with it!

This surprisingly works ok, I mean, it shows anything within 70metres, and refreshes whenever a new pokemon comes within range. And if there are more than 1 of the same type of pokemon- say 7 pidgeys- it'll only show 1 on your radar rather than taking up 7 slots.
It's still shit, but it's a lot less shit than the 'nearby' they just had. I only wish they would've added the footsteps and fixed them, or even an arrow for which direction to walk in.

Tomorrow's my mom's birthday and she's currently really bummed out because she can't play go on her phone. I know next to nothing about phones, the only thing I own is an old-as-fuck Iphone that I mostly use for work...and I don't really play anything on it. I'm a complete normie when it comes to phones, I don't even know what an .apk file is or whatever.
She has a pretty weird phone, I've never seen anything like it...I think it's called "fire phone" or something, it's from Amazon...they say online that it's pretty shit but she got it for free and she's in love with it.
I checked the appstore thing and it's not there...I followed a guide I found online and downloaded the .apk...and now the game's icon is on the menu, which hopefully means I'm on the right track.
But when I try to enter the thing, the message "No gps signal" comes along, and I can't sign in via google. I've seen possible fixes for this, but they're usually for android devices, not this weird thing

I'm not sure if the kindle fire has a gps in it, but if not she most likely will not be able to play on it. if you want a cheap alternative, boost mobile is selling the zte warp for $80 right now. cell service is around $50 per month and can be turned off with no contractual obligation if she quits or whatever. Think about it this way:

To power it up would require you to sink all of your resources, at least depending on what your level is since you might be too low to get it to a range where it costs over 3k dust per level, but you'll certainly eat up all that Candy.

Considering you almost have enough candy to take a Nidoran at like CP 600 all the way to it's final Evo, it seems best to wait, regardless of IV's.

But maybe save that pokemon in case you hit like a million dust and never find a nidoran with IV's better than 10%.

The catch rate thing is weird, for me.

I find that it happens in short bursts where 5 pokemon in a row will break out of 1 ultra ball with raz and immediately flea, or me and someone else will both have problems catching the same pokemon- but by and large most will be fairly cooperative- I have over 100 pokeballs now and I try my best to catch practically everything I see.
