Dunno, but I've certainly written scenes that have made people despair a little. Past that, I can't say I have any idea if my cliche bullshit managed to somehow affect someone so powerfully. Writin more suffering right now, though, so that fact might be able to change come a month or two for now.

I'm that anon from the last thread who felt uneasy about writing smut. Well... I decided to do it myself! So I just wanted to ask for advice from more experienced people. I would be very grateful!

Hmm...

First thing is first: Know the basics
Make sure you know which point of view you're using and stick with it (First/third person, character of focus, etc).
Choose a verb tense and remain constant in it unless there are specific exceptions (choose whether to use past or present tense, but not at the same time. Past is a bit easier to write in).
Don't worry about whether a fic is too long or too short. Just write until you're content with the end of the story.
To comment: Satisfy yourself first before thinking about others.
Try reading other smuts to see if you can learn anything from them. However you'l have to be the judge whether what you read is good or bad smut.

As for the smut /tg/ had a guide to writing smut, but I for the life of me can't find the link for it.

My personal preference in smut: Don't slap boobs on everything and call it a day. I prefer characters that are 1:1 with their forms, with little to no modification.
A good balance of fluff reinforces the power of smut. Essentially the more feelings/realistic a character is the better it gets.

You can also google some things to help you learn how to write smut, but reading them does take investment. This is optional, but here are a few ones I came across.

Just go with the flow. Have a general idea of where things will lead, and how it will end, before you begin writing.
Always good to start with fluff so your readers can better visualize characters and environments, internal monologues are your choice though.
When you are finished the script, go back and edit/delete/add scenes until you are satisfied with the outcomes. Good smut is a rarity, so don't expect it to be amazing right off the bad. Just like real sex, it takes hard work and dedication for it to have a good result.

Make sure to push the enter key/add a break whenever someone else is talking. This makes paragraphs less cluttered and more organized.

Guess at the time I was thinking "Oh his kind does not understand how a lot of the words we use. But I guess that idea pretty much fell face first into the ground.

As for the story itself I got a pretty good understanding of how it is going to turn out, or at least what will happen in the near future.

Alright I can't decide what would be the best route to spontaneously generate ghost pokemon:

>a mixture of the two, and/or the addition of Gastly occasionally appearing to relay memories, sometimes hostile sometimes not

This is far beyond the realm of "how things actually work", and is basically an exercise in head canon and mild reference (at best) to actual canon, but I figured I should go with the least completely ridiculous option. This has been a major sticking point in the production of this chapter.

There's also the "fuck it, do whatever" option, but I try not to default to it.

That's all I can think of for any of the options. I don't recall the lore for the Duskull line and Gastlys I think are just the swirling balls of ectoplasm you see if you watch ghost hunting shows.

Uhh, decently I think. It revolves around murders, stolen hearts, and very rapidly devolves from forensics into psychic leads and occultism.

Oh boy. I feel a bit worried since I'm going back to hhighschool. Hopefully homework won't take up all of my free time for my fanfic

So a number of things have inspired me to start writing a new fic. Here's what I have lined up:
>Takes place in Hoenn, Sinnoh, or Unova (probably going to be Unova, but I'm not sure)
>One main character (if not THE main character) will be Serena after playing second fiddle in a world Calem was the MC of Kalos

Pokemon not cooperating will be an issue for some characters in some planned places, like say a Pokemon gets scared from niche or uses a move based on what the Pokemon looks like (aka fire on a Sudowoodo). I really wanted to right a story on Pokemon do to how detailed each and every game can be with a single touch to tie things together. World building will be tricky, but if implemented right can go smooth.

I'm just a sucker for weird smut anyway. There's gotta be someone that provides it and there's little people I trust more to do it right than me. While it's a thing that comes naturally to me, I'd at least like to roll my dick all over my retarded PMD OCs for a food while. I haven't been this inspired since, well, the actual writing of Ears. So what do you all think about the concept of powerful battling pokemon adjusting to domestic life later on? Is it interesting to you? Are you inspired to write for it? Do you think many pokemon would reject "settling down" later in life, like that Blaziken in cge's prelude story to LL? Is domestic life a less riveting subject than good ol' pokemon journeyan?

Something cge said a few threads back has been nagging me. In regards to the speech tm, pokemon who are granted an understanding of more complex end up thinking about how they can integrate into their trainers' lives beyond battling and competitions. I've been trying to imagine how even a non-speaking pokemon would come to the conclusion that it wants to be a part of its trainer's human life, and what role it sees itself fitting into even with such a limited concept of future planning (I'm equating pokemon's sapience to something similar to prepubescent children).

It would be...an interesting thing to write about, especially if it's a legendary trying to live a normal life outside of it's legend status.
In the wild, Pokemon might as well act like animals, just trying to survive until they mate and/or the day they die of old age, so those that thrive in that condititon may be more resistant of settling down, even if domestic life makes things easier for them.

Ultimately it would depend on what reason the Pokemon has to take on a domestic life: Safety? Curiosity about human culture? Interest in a particular location.

Slice of life stories can also work in a pokemon story, though I suspect if you're aiming for an audience it wont attract quite as many.

Something interesting that strikes me is that caught wild pokemon that have adapted to human life might realize how shitty life can be in the wild might appreciate the easy living, whereas a human raised pokemon that's had never had it difficult may get restless. Either way it would take some adapting, and if it came down to just needing some battles or to travel around a bit, I'm sure just having battles with other locals and maybe occasional backpacking trips might be enough to keep them from going stir-crazy.

For a pokemon, whose life revolves around their trainer, their relationship is probably the most important thing in their lives. If they can't adapt to the trainer's change in lifestyle, they run the risk of diminishing that relationship and possibly losing their entire way of life.

He's likely getting at the general nature of the work. It's a bunch of ideas that were jotted down in a hurry to capture the essence of what you wanted to write. It's like a sticky note, or a phone reminder: brief, unpolished, and meant mostly for the person who wrote it.

You have to flesh out characters, plot, actions, setting, etc. as well as fix grammar and what not. It is very rough, nothing wrong with that because it's not done.

Two of them actually.

One was short-lived but good, it was about some bunch of Pokémon trying to make it in the big city, looking for jobs, interacting with gangs, raising family, etc. I submitted Eltenios in there, it was the RP where he first got his name, and he was working as a courier.

The other is a long-lived Pokémon RP I am still part of, though much less active than I used to be.

Some of my characters of old are already long retired, and when they get some screentime they are trying to keep their homes tidied up, raising their children, some of them adopted, or trying to learn how human tech such as videogames and microwaves work. At this point, most of my participation in that RP is slice of life stuff, so stuff like that shows up pretty much anytime I post (which is more or less once a month).

While working on all the ghost stuff for acpc I thought up the idea of a psychologist/behaviorist trying to figure put why a ghost Pokemon was hanging out on top of a poke center, and it ultimately became a discourse on unrequited love, the barriers erected by being a different species, and the futility of form change (since the ghost was supposed to be an actually alive zoroark that failed to woo the apple of its eye.)

Dependent on the species and typing. Psychic and Ghost types are usually given an innate capacity for and the ability to master human languages (Common in this case, I suppose) but some species don't speak (like the drifloon line.) Outside of those typings are specific examples, like Zoroark, which have abilities that are conducive to learning languages. Finally, any species with sufficient intelligence and drive can learn Common with dedication.

Speech is treated weirdly in the world I've been cooking. It's not unheard of but still catches people off-guard.

If you mean language as a construct for Pokémon, I have it that most if not all species use languages and dialects derived from an universal base.

They also have an innate ability to better understand the concepts other Pokémon are "talking" about, bypassing some of the limitations brought by morphological differences (Magnemite have no mouth). In a certain way this ability works as a "Global Language" that can you can sort of tag your communication with so that it is understood by species besides your own; long-lived Legendaries tend to have mastered this form of communication, which when used with humans tends to be perceived as if a form of telepathy.

If you mean tongues, most species have derived their own dialects from the universal base, and tend to use those where communicating with your own clan / troop is concerned. For example, Houndour and Houndoom tend to develop this sort of con language only they can understand; most dragon mons would share something similar to the Dovahzul or the Dravanian Speak (without the "language of truth" element built in); some colonies of Nidoran would use a dialect similar to Watership Down's Lapine, and so on.

If you mean programming languages, I envision that the original PorygOS kernel was (will be) built on a sort of semantic comprehension language, with built-in syntax to describe functions and lists by the properties of the contents / output generated rather than by procedural generation or explicit enumeration, and the kernel would support a pluggable units system model that would allow the Porygon specimen to extend its ability to refer to and alter its own structure according to external stimuli as "comprehended" by its onboard sensors, by extending its vocabulary to describe in its own programming what the resulting body properties will be like; the basis behind the Conversion ability.

In my typical settings, there's not really a pokemon language, so much as pokemon have an innate ability to understand what others mean. The sounds they make are essentially gibberish that can't be learned or interpreted through technology, yet they can understand one another and humans perfectly. This sets a fairly strong language barrier which makes for interesting scenarios where characters have to work to circumvent it.

I don't think it's too uncommon to be legally blind without the use of glasses. Remember how Velma in fuckin Scooby Doo becomes useless as soon as her glasses are knocked off her face? It gets that bad easy. I've gotta lean in within 6 inches to read the screen without them.

But it's the old prescription that gives me eye migraines (Which are different than the actual migraines that can come afterward if you trudge on without resting in total darkness for a while). Like, imagine all of a sudden you cannot focus your vision. Not that you're going cross-eyed or anything, but just big blind spots that suddenly fucking materialize out of nowhere and completely ruin you. They can be anywhere on your eye, and usually both are affected. Surprisingly enough, comprehending words is actually not possible.

Sort of yes, actually. He gets better (or gets put on the path to get better anyway since he gets Eric to drill into his head how much of a fuck-up he's being with Viola) but he's suffering for a rather terrible disconnect from Talia; his inability to comprehend why she's still so mad at him is really as simple as him being a dick that just up and left her. Doing that to people is pretty god damn hurtful, your own struggles with growing xeno/pokephilia be damned.

It's a story as much about his newfound relationship as his old ones - he almost loses a close friend in the shape of Eric, but gets knocked down enough pegs that he comes back to apologize with his tail between his legs more or less and apologizes to him, even gets a ticket to Sin"marry your fucking pokemon"noh. His entire ordeal with Talia is not quite resolved - a simple battle doesn't do much to actually clear the air, but it seemingly does so for him, though Eric hints very vaguely that he's done nothing but buy a way out of Hoenn without fear of being stopped.

So yeah, he's a bit of a dick. Insensitive (and kinda clueless) to what transpired between him and his ex, but at least attempting to foster a healthy relationship with Viola.

Yeah it was, the issue was that something like that would become a discourse on the idea of "love" and discussing love is very, very muddy territory with a lot sticking points. I wasn't confident in being able to navigate that marsh so I will readily admit that I copped out. Plus, love is a rather personal thing and I thought going into depth with it would become a bit awkward for the reader.

I think I mentioned some of it in the thread a month or two ago. Going back and forth between:

- a fic about a mon working a hooman job and dealing with all the drama that comes with it, while staving off his yearning for (one of) the boss' daughter

-fic about an actual ten year old's (not just a teenager with the number 10 slapped on) journey to beat the league while evading the eyes of the law that want to drag her back home

-fic about a teen mom who saves a dying froakie on a whim and ends up having kawaii adventures with her new sticky baby that she likes better than her real baby

Also on the back burner are:

-period fic about a trophy wife in a loveless marriage and her illicit romance with her gallade, and the social implications that follow

-even earlier period fic about a human-pokemon marriage under duress (a "give me your daughter and I won't slaughter your livestock for fun" kinda deal) which is actually the original for the pokemon-with-human-job fic. I need to stop making AUs of my own shit.

OK, here's my story idea that I have been plotting for a while, and promised myself I'd start on before this year is over.

It's based heavily on gen 1, and how Team Rocket was involved in making genetically altered Pokémon, but takes it in a while new direction.

It takes place years (maybe a decade, or more) after the events of the game, so by this time, Team Rocket has been disbanded. (Btw, I'm not gonna use any of the game/anime characters, like Ash/Red, or Jessie n James.. there may be mentions to important characters relevant to the story like Giovanni, Prof Oak and such, but this is an original story, with original characters. Except Bill, he plays a vital role, but he shall be different from the Bill we are used to.)

The as of yet unnamed MC (Though I'm leaning towards "Chris" for simplicity) is a wondering Pokemon trainer, go figure. But none of that 10yo/young teen nonsense. He's roughly mid, maybe early 20s or so. Cliche plot trope though.. he's got the Amnesia! Oh no! But he's not really trying to remember his past. He's got this sort of "I ain't worried about it" attitude. But he is good friends with this one guy, a Pokemon researcher that "found him" one day, lost and with no memory or idea what the heck he was doing, and sort of set him on the path of Pokemoning. That's where Bill comes in. Dude was even dope enough to set Chris off with some "rare and valuable" pokes, as long as he promises to treat them well and keep them safe.

Shady twist. Bill? Bill used to work for Team Rocket. Sort of. See, it was one of those "I'm doing it for science, and they're just backing my research" sort of arrangements.

Tram Rocket provided Bill with money needed to continue his research, Bill provided Team Rocket with scientific breakthroughs on ways to make stronger and more valuable Pokemon. Or in some cases, Pokemon that could do things they weren't normally supposed to do, like have unusual abilities, or learn moves they couldn't naturally. Cont-

It even went as far as being able to clone Fossil Pokemon, and eventually into outright growing Pokemon from the ground up, rare and hard to find ones, or ones that were stronger then anything found in the wild.

(As a side note, me and a friend came up with this basic idea years ago, when using a GameShark to use cheats on Pokemon emerald.. we always sort of compared it to that idea, of making "superior" Pokemon via the magic of science and such!)

Of course, as Bill was no villain, over time his moral objections began to catch up to his scientific curiosity. As Team Rocket asked him to do more and more shady sorts of experiments, Bill began to object on the grounds of taking things too far. The line was crossed when one of the sub commanders of Team Rocket (again, haven't decided on a name yet..) approached Bill with the idea of not just manipulating the abilities and traits of Pokemon, but applying that same research towards humans. It was at that point that Bill cut his ties with the organization. But you know what happens when you try to do something like that.

This Sub had Bill attacked, all his research on DNA and gene splicing stolen, and had his men use Bills own Pokemon splicing technology, which they didn't quite fully even understand because no one's as smart as Bill, ya know? On him. The part of the game where Bill is all franken-poked, and says it was an accident? That's what Team Rocket did to him for leaving.

Fast forward. Years later, Giovanni has disbanded the main portion of Team Rocket, and what's left of it has slowly been brought down over the years until it's nothing more then a memory. Bill is involved with much less shady research now, and lives an otherwise normal life inspite of his criminal dealings in his younger day.

Back to Chris, the memoryless Pokemon trainer. Along his generally normal catch Pokemon/beat trainers/win badges adventures, he starts to notice things about himself that are a bit.. different. He never put much thought into it, though, until one day there was an incident. A kid in the road, a car that was going just a little too fast.. of course, a Pokemon could help. But Pokemon have to be released from their poke balls. And which one to use? Would a Pokemon respond to a command fast enough? No time to think, Chris simply stepped in the way.. and stops the care with his own bare hands, nothing more then a few scratches and bruises to show for it. The hero of the moment, Chris finds himself dumbfounded And his own actions. How could he do that? People can't just stop cars. He should be dead, or at the very least, sevearly injured. He flees the scene to collect his thoughts and try to make sense of things.

But news of this fest spread through the media. "Man stops car with bare hands" clips show up online everywhere. And it catches the attention of someone.

That someone is the research stealing ex sub boss of the old Team Rocket. He's been hiding out the last few years, but has continues carrying on his research regarding Pokemon/human hybrids. See, this unnamed villain believes that Pokemon have actually become a liability to humans. Whereas in the past, humans and Pokemon were equals in almost every way in terms of ability, over time, people have learned to depend more and more on their Pokemon, which has led to a stiffling of human evolution. His plan is to create a new race of super humans imbued with the abilities of the strongest Pokemon, so that man will once again be the most powerful species on the planet. He sees Pokemon as nothing for then tools for his research, means to an end. His finds the most powerful types of Pokemon, then takes their DNA and uses it to create humans that can use all their moves and abilities.

This isn't really such a stretch, as in the show there have been many I stances of people using Pokemon level abilities. Serena and her psychic powers, and her dad using teleport. Bruno training with his Onixes like it was no big deal. There are still people who tap into their latent, pokemon-like abilities, but the ex sub wants to make a race of humans that have full access to their old, dormant powers, no matter what the cost.

As you may have guessed it by now, it turns out Chris is one of his first experiments. But there was an accident and he escaped. Bill, still in the know that this ex Team Rocket boss is still out there, always keeps an eye out for anything that might be suspicious of their activities. Thats how he finds Chris originally, but seeing him in the state he was in, memoryless, scared, confuswd, Bill thought the right thing to do would be to give this poor soul, nothing more than research fodder to an evil organization, a second chance at life. The Pokemon Bill give him are actually all clone Pokemon, created with the absolute best stats and abilities ~naturally~ possible, as Bill doesn't try to play God and make them overly powerful anymore.

But now, the cat is basically out of the bag. Chris is starting to realize he's more than just your average trainer, and the ex sub knows one of his old experiments in on the lose, and is showing rather promising result.

It's not your typical "young trainer becomes league master" or even "trainer x Pokemon love" type stories. It's something I feel is a little different, and deals with some of the more "adult" issues that are touched on, but never really delved into. Anyways. That's the jist of it. Questions, critique, lay it on me.

Alright. Firstly, you just made four massive posts that was basically just you absolutely venting a storyline that is irrelevant with the exposition and prose to company it. I'm going to be honest, most people probably don't give much more than a rat's ass about your plot when it's all bones and no boners, and therefore cannot really be judged. If you instead, say, presented a prologue or something of that sort that is built to hook a reader just enough that these four posts of dump are relevant and interesting, then all the more power for you. But as it is, ideas without substance mean next to nothing. A plot can be as wild or fucked up as you can make it so long as the prose is clean and believable, and the intrigue is strong. Once a rough draft can be constructed around your ideas, then you may stage a session questioning the creative soundness of your story.

That doesn't really make sense. Why would humans, especially in prehistoric times, rely more on superpowered beasts instead of their own superpowers? This isn't comparable to IRL evolution; things like psionics and firebreathing are on a different scale. Early tools would not have made abilities like that obsolete either.
Domesticated animals are resources, special workers or companions. They aren't people, equivalent to people or replacements for people. They also aren't machines.
Prehistoric conditions and early civilizations would have had plenty of uses for superpowered humans. A human who can throw lightning with his mind is a more reliable warrior than a trained rat capable of doing that. I don't see superpowers getting selected away. Unless that was the result of some mutation/somehow related to humans developing higher intelligence (spurious) and had nothing to do with "humanity relying on Pokémon". (In which case your BBEG would actually be an idiot not doing his research.)

for future references, if an idea takes more than 2 posts to fill you should condense it into a pastebin, or make a shorter version that attacks the main points.
While you got the backstory, you also need to put focus on the main story while balancing between the two to make sure that the backstory doesn't come off as a direct infodump.
Issue is that although promising, it assumes that this story is going to be a long one, and would take quite a bit of time investment to go forward with. If you don't mind that, give it a shot.
