So without further adieu. *ahem*

About a week ago two new exploits have been released that allow any version of the 3ds(new/old/2ds/xl) on any firmware (yes, including 11.0), to run homebrew. This means you can for example start dumping your save files, edit them with PkHex to inject new pokemon and then reinject the savefile in your cartridge. This post explains how to do this.

This method cannot brick your 3DS.

>If you are on a firmware below 11.0, consider installing a9lh instead. It is a permanent solution that allows you to run homebrew and even install games you downloaded (and didn't pay for) and play online.
>You can also install a9lh on a 11.0 system if you know someone irl that already runs a9lh and helps you.
>>
Guide:
Prerequisites:
-A 3ds/2ds/new3ds
-A sd-cardreader (not needed on new3ds)
-A wifi connection

Download:
-The homebrew starter pack: https://smealum.github.io/ninjhax2/starter.zip
-Menuhax 3.0: https://github.com/yellows8/3ds_homemenuhax/releases/download/v3.0/menuhax_v3.0.zip

Installation:
1. Download the above files
2. Take out your sd-card and put it in your cardreader
3. Copy the CONTENTS of the starter FOLDER (in the starter.zip) on your sd-card
4. Copy, merge and overwrite the CONTENTS of the menuhax_v3.0.zip ZIP FILE to your sd-card (This step may no longer be needed since it might be included in the new version of the starter.zip)

>After this step your sd-card root should have a /3ds/ folder (with several folder inside) and a boot.3dsx on root level

5. Put your sd-card back in your 3ds
6. Start up your 3ds
7. Press the icon top left, change your theme at least once and select the theme you want to keep afterwards (you will be stuck on this theme unless you uninstall menuhax, you can change the theme, but you will have to reinstall menuhax afterwards)
8. Hold L+R to start camera mode, press the QR button and scan this QR code: https://yls8.mtheall.com/3dsbrowserhax.php and let it open the browser to visit the website
9. Weird colors will flash on your ds monitor, that is normal. Wait a few seconds and it should start the homebrewlauncher (if this takes longer than 1 minute, restart your ds and start again from the beginning or check the faq)
10. Select menuhax installer, press A to install and B when it asks to skip ropbin, press a when it is complete, turn off your 3ds

From now on you can hold the L button during startup of your 3ds to start the homebrew launcher.
>>
FAQ:
>I have a new 3ds and can't access my sd card:
Use the microsd-management tool to move files between your ds and your pc
http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14218/~/how-to-use-microsd-management-to-move-files-between-a-new-nintendo-3ds-xl-and-a

>I can't open the camera because I don't have a right bumper:
Alternative, if you can't use your camera open your browser and type in "http://yls8.mtheall.com/3dsbrowserhax_auto.php"

>Menuhax says my system is not supported:
You are using the old menuhax(v 2.2) that came with the (old?) starter kit, use the new menuhax (v3.0) from the link above and make sure to overwrite the existing files

>Menuhax shows error 0XFFFFFFFE:
On your sd card, find the folder "Nintendo 3DS/<ID0>/<ID1>/extdata/00000000/
(ID0 and ID1 are gibberish names, just check them all if you have several)
In this folder, delete/rename the folder 00000082(on jp systems), 0000008f(on us systems) or 00000098(on eu systems)
(Make backups beforehand)

>Browserhax gets stuck on a red screen:
Check your folder structure, the boot.3dsx needs to be on root level

>I'm stuck in my theme:
uninstall Menuhax from the homebrew launcher, change theme, reinstall menuhax

>How do I hack my savegame with this?
Install a savegame manager (https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-jks-savemanager-homebrew-cia-save-manager.413143/ dl the attached jksm_3dsx.zip) and merge its 3ds folder with the one on your sd card, then you can dump your savegame file through the homebrew launcher onto your sd card, edit it on your pc and reinject it throug the homebrew launcher.

>Moving the sd card is tiresome:
Consider installing a ftp homebrew app to access your sd card over wifi(even on old3ds): https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-ftp-gmx-customize-your-ftbrony.410506/

>>
>>27596476
Backup your save file using something like SaveDataFiler or JKSV, then send the Pokemon into the bank. There's always a chance for something to fuck up but if you have a backup there's nothing that can go wrong.
>>
I need some troubleshooting.
I have a cartridge of Pokemon X and the save data keeps getting corrupted. Here's what i did:
>Pokemon working find, have used PkHex and Homebrew launcher several times before without issue
>Accidentally import a Pokemon AS save
>Import my old Pokemon X save and boot it, everything looks fine. lost some progress but nothing too awful
>turn off game and do something else
>turn on game, save is corrupted
>Delete corrupted data ingame
>start new file
>turn off 3ds to combine new and old save data with that tool
>save is corrupted again
I think i might be stuck in a loop. What do?

not sure what to do desu

Does anyone have a ready-to-play .romfs file of a randomized X or Alpha Sapphire? Preferably Alpha Sapphire.

I have both games but not enough memory in my SD card to use braindump. I got to play Sinking Sapphire this way, someone here gave me a link to a .rar with the .romfs and the code file in it, I just popped them in my SD card and played using HANS. Worked great.

I just want randomized wild Pokémon and randomized trainer Pokémon.
>>
Can I do this with a 2 GB SD card? Can I hack my 3ds then "unhack" it? Can I hack a 3ds with a 2gb, then upgrade later?
>>
>>27598752
Everything you're "hacking" is your SD card. Just make a back-up of it.
If you upgrade SD card you just move everything to it.
>>
>>27598788
Is it okay if I hack with a 2gb SD card? How much space do I need?
>>
>>27598816
Depends on what you want to do. To play romhacks you're gonna need at least 4GB.
>>
>>27598499
Peculiar. I think the issue was that I added in some wondercards. Anyway to get this shit to work properly?
>>
>>27598851
Is 64gb good or is that too much. How big rom hacks usually?
>>
I might be reading the thing wrong but is there any method to homebrew my 3DS that's on Ver.11 without the aid of someone else with a brew'd console? Or will I have to wait until such an exploit is available?
>>
>>27593081
Even the creator of FTBrony realized how autistic making it related to ponies was now. It now goes under the name FTPD
>>
>>27598901
64gb is great if you don't mind the cost. You'll be able to get most of the 3ds library with that kind of space.
>>27598906
https://yls8.mtheall.com/3dsbrowserhax.php
>>
>>27598961
>https://yls8.mtheall.com/3dsbrowserhax.php

You're gonna have to be more specific anon. Especially since I'm leery with doing this kind of thing and when I scanned the QR code the 3DS froze, showed a quick debug screen then a RED screen showed up on the lower screen until I forced shut-off.

Where does the instructions in the OP correlate with the link you gave me?
>>
Can I emulate nds with this? What homebrew app do I need?
>>
>>27599138
Found the instructions.

Still, is it effective for 3DS that are on VER.11?

Do I still have to download the files and transfer the CONTENTS and etc.?
>>
What cool stuff can I do with this besides the injecting stuff?
I know there's many tutorials and whatnot but I don't wanna go that rabbit hole, just whatever you think it's coolest or most useful...
>>
I'm loving PCHex++. Being able to edit pokemon without a computer constantly is so convenient. Still may need PKhex for advanced things though.

I have a question, I did the hardmod and installed a9lh, works perfectly and my 3DS now runs a CFW sysNAND on 11.0.0.33 . So if a new system update is released it's safe to update? Thanks in advance.
>>
>>27599647
-you can play pretty much any GBC/GBA game like it was off the eshop even if it was never released on the eshop (people inject the roms into an eshop container you install)
-you can use custom themes
-piracy obviously
-you can backup saves since Nintendo doesn't want you doing that with Pokemon games
-you could technically back up your Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow save from cartridge, import it into the eshop version of the respective game and import your 16 year old Pokemon into Sun and Moon using Pokebank
>>
>>27599647
Play Rutile Ruby/Star Sapphire, as well as hacks of X/Y.
>>
>>27601010
I didn't hardmod but I have a9lh and I believe so.
a9lh works so well because it runs milliseconds into boot before the rest of the software.
This means you can install and update stuff without thinking about it, and even if you brick your system you can simply restore from your sysnand backup since a9lh will boot first.

Also part of the a9lh guide tells you to system update after you've completed everything else, so you should be fine.
>>
>>27601015
That last part just blew my mind, anon.
The thing about themes... Doesn't the OP says you're stuck with one theme until you Uninstall?
>>
>>27601219
themes work differently to how the official nintendo one works.
you use an app called custom theme manager to install or uninstall themes.
You can install up to 10 themes in a shuffling rotation though, similar to how the default theme system works.
OP may not realize you can do this, the custom theme manager UI isn't great.
You can still use the default official theme manager if you want, you just don't get access to custom themes that way.
>>
>>27601219
>>27601243
reading the OP he's actually referring to how Menuhax uses theme data as part of the exploit.
If you change themes during the hacking process you would wipe Menuhax.
If you finish hacking your 3DS and are using a9lh you can change your theme whenever you want because you install Homebrew launcher as an app on the home menu.
>>
>>27601015
Wait, how can you back up a rby save from your cart?
>>
>>27602968
I'm guessing you need some kind of old unofficial accessory.
Look on youtube "backing up pokemon red save"

>Piracy obviously

To what extent? On homebrew can we play eshop games, or download cartridge games?
>>
>>27604557
We have access to the entire 3ds library, yes.
Nintendo can't tell the difference between a legit or pirated download, so we can play online with them as well.
>>
>>27604557
both.
you can install anything that's available on the eshop.
you can install retail games that never got eshop releases like they were actual eshop games.
you can create an eshop version of a retail game you own from the cartridge if you're so inclined.
you can install custom eshop virtual console games (GBC/GBA/NES/SNES roms injected to look and act exactly like they're off the eshop).
>>
>>27604583
Here I thought cfw was the only way.

I'm part of a game torrent site, so I can find out how to do the cartridge stuff there.

But, you got a guide on freely DLing eshop games? I'd love that soz
>>
>>27604592
For this u need to downgrade, you can't install pirated games just with homebrew. If you are on 11.0 and use the guide above you can only run snes/gb roms, romhacks of games you own and do other homebrew stuff like savegame injection, no pirated games
>>
>>27604635
eshop titles are distributed as .cia files on piracy websites.
The homebrew application FBI can freely install .cia files if you have a9lh.
Also there is other homebrew applications like Freeshop that cut out the middle man.
Freeshop let's you browse, download and install any game like you had an all-you-can-eat giftcard for the real eshop.
This way you don't need your computer to pirate a game.
>>27604661
this is true, but no one actually upgraded to 11.0 right?
>>
>>27604676
>>27604661
Link to free shop for homebrew?

I upgraded to 11... how long should I sit on it and not update?
>>
>>27604676
I run a9lh, but i think u give a lot of ppl false hope by saying they can pirate with just homebrew access. Also check out ciangel.
>>
>>27604752
Freeshop is installed via .cia, I'm pretty sure you'll need a proper CFW.
Try to get Menuhax working on your 11.0 3DS and wait it out.
Apparently Nintendo may be able to block browserhax soon, and an exploit for 11.0 could be discovered after that.

I softbricked my 3DS back on 9.2 trying to downgrade, it forced me to update to 10.6 as a result.
10.6 was not able to be exploited at that time without games I did not own, so I waited.
Eventually 10.7 and under could be downgraded, and so I was able to install A9LH on my 3DS without problem, if I updated to 11.0 I'd be in your shoes.
Just be patient.
>>
>>27604752
If you know someone irl with a hacked 3ds u can downgrade if u buy a certain 5$ game, otherwise you need a hardmod to downgrade and install a9lh. If you don't want to do either it's going to be hard to tell when a new a9 exploit comes out, could be tomorrow, could be never

I'd like to play battle videos on my PC using an emulator so I don't need the capture card.
I've extracted my AS save and loaded it in citra emulator but there were no saved battle videos in VS Recorder.
I guess I need to extract some other files, is there any way to do this or I am being retarded?

The data for battle videos is saved to the SD card. (Battle video files are often used get shiny values and IVs, though I dunno if you can get full pk6s from them.) I have no idea how you would connect it to an emulator.
