/vp/ makes a Fakemon Dex: Thread #3

getting some starters nailed down would be nice. i feel like most fakedexes end up with very weak starters because the designers feel the need to make them have broad appeal.

How about a car based Pokemon?

Tried my hand at the Lightning rod Giraffe. Grass/Electric. The pattern on it's body would look like leaves. It's tail is meant to be a ground rod. It would have an evolution.

Pidove already used that bird so this would just look like you threw a suit on it. I hate to compare to other pokemon so much but Honchkrow was a really good example of how to make a bird wearing a suit.

This is a really goddamn neat project and I'm glad there's people trying to make a serious fakemon dex. There's a ton of potential and it's important to try and make everything unique with a similar design quality bar to the actual series.

The yeti crab has potential and could definitely work. I'd recommend trying something like having it's whole/main body covered in fur instead of just the arms.
Crabs are easy to tell but the yeti part needs a larger share of its design in order to register. Maybe even have it be a bipedal Yeti with crab parts for a second evolution.
I don't know what could be done with the earth one though. The art and design are good I just don't think it'd work as a pokemon.

Love this picture and these ideas, the original idea was for dark brown or black spots anyway so it fits great.
Not sure about the evo but maybe like a hulking beast more like.
Like the first form is this little girlish beast but then it evolves into a massive troll\ogre.
Or go the opposite way and have it turn into a motherly cow humanoid.

Let's finish the basics

Something I think would be cool would be a Rock/Flying 3 Stage Totem Pole pokémon that starts as a single rung and each stage it gains another layer to the Totem. Maybe give the 2nd Evo the wings, or have them from the start of the line.

Well, I think it might be better to go a different way, with a more stripped design and economic lines, something like Togekiss or Latios.

Well, the last stage is ok. The first is not cute enough and the tail don't work very well. The second is too diferent from the others, maybe you can change a litle for make a more visible growth line.

The tail on the first stage is meant to look like a cartoon water spout. I was going for a wave motif to represent the scary as fuck way that orcas will create waves to hunt seals on ice caps. I'll do what I can to make it cuter though. As for the middle stage, I didn't want to have an orca go into a cocoon, but divergent middle stages are common place in pseudos. I used dratini and gible as my basis for this. Think of it this way. You have orca calf->adult orca->sea dragon.
