What about a (shooting) star mole?
I'm thinking a mole type design that starts out with a flame on its face and in its final stage would look fully like a shooting star and would have awesome speed and attack stats. I imagine most of its moveset would be attacks like headbutt. It could be pure fire or fire/ground, but that's a shit combination so I would personally go for the pure fire typing.

Anon that floated the sea lion idea here. If we want to avoid >>27410097
we could redesign the back half into something similar to the rear half of a shark, possibly removing the back legs. Would steer it away from 'its a cat but wet', and would move it closer to an actual sea lion. Also, the harpoon tail could be changed to a trident if we want to go the Poseidon route, along with shaping the mane into a crown like shape if you really wanted to play on it.

We need a water/ dragon basilisk

For a legendary I thought of a sun-dial Pokemon with a bunch of arms sprouting from the wheels like a thousand-arm buddhist God type of thing. The centre of the dial has two arms in a prayer position attached to a floating disc that doesn't touch the outer circle with the arms. The disc in the middle is static while the surrounding wheel can move in 3 dimensions. The face can be whatever. The typing would be fire/fairy if that helps give an idea of the colours or look, which is like bronze/sepia

I think it looks great. For the final evo, the head seems unbalanced in terms of design and needs some kind of whisker or ribbon extension, or a longer head fin that looks like a scythe. Just something to give the head more 'weight'

How about something like this for its head?
The crest could probably be blue, either to look like or actually be water, and when it's down, the shape of the head would hint at being a dragon instead of a regular lizard.

But as far as the body, I've got nothing. Maybe it should have a stripe down its side, to make sure the design's flow is the opposite of the Helioptile and Treecko lines?

How about a Huldra mon?
If you don't know, Huldra is a large human like creature that looks like a very big but fairly pretty looking girl with a long cow tail.
Myths go back and forth on how trollish/ogreish
she looks.
So maybe a one evo line of fairy, maybe fairy/ground or fairy/normal?
With the pre-evo looking like a young girl with cow features but fface covered up(see pic related)
And evo is bigger with more pronounced features(bigger horns, longer tail,maybe cow spots on skin)
Hair is pulled back into twin tails like a hill girl. No cow face just cow features.

I gave it a shot, but I'm hating the super generic body shape I ended up with. Still, maybe things like her back being hollow, and a distaff shape to the tail, could stick around if anyone else wants to expand on this.

I just thought of a Bug/Psychic type based on Daddy-Long-Legs called Psylocidae. It could be Greenish yellow and dull purple and its legs are the source of its psychic powers. It deals in controlling fear. If anyone wants to draw this or come up with evolutions/pre evolutions, be my guest.

I noticed that the starters were based on some norse realms, so I thought a Nidhogg based psuedolegend would fit well. This is just a beta, but it gets the idea across. It's a pig dragon!

now i know my idea is similar to this but it's kind of a stove spider that is constantly emitting steam
it would be fire/steel.
pokedex bio could be something like "During cold winter, other pokemon huddle around it for warmth. It appears very angry but is actually kind hearted" so it fits with the region

I dig the Scandinavian/Viking theme. So we could make a mon based off of their Adam/Eve post apocalypse guys Líf and Lífþrasir. They're supposed to rise out of the ashes or Rangarok and repopulate so stage one could be 2 charred/shriveled people-esque things (babies?) connected by a cord then stage 2 would be more alive looking with little planty bits popping out and the cord was holding hands or something (children?) and stage three they're two leafy healthy Scandinavian people (adult) (pokemon esque humans though like hitmonlee and the like) with firey hair and leafy clothes Adam and eve style. typing could be fire - grass/fire - grass/fire maybe.

If you took the leaf theme far enough they could easily be two parts of a single plant.
Hair's the most obvious location I can think of, but I'm sure it could be worked into any other place. Maybe a shared tail, if it needs to be lower?
That only falls apart at the basic stage being pure fire. So either plant parts would have to be charcoal, or maybe the bodies would be directly in contact...


If you want an extra gimmick, while it might take away from the goal, a gender difference on the final stage where one evolves and the other stays in its second stage might be neat.

Good stuff, thanks amigo. Going without fire still works, I only included it because, from my brief check of the Wikipedia article, Ragnarok ends in flame. Keeping it grass the whole time would still be great, and the having one evolve while the other stays is cool, I'm fine with losing the Lìf and Lífbrasir connection idea for a concept like that.

Tried to rework it and make the body a little more interesting, going off the theme of a pokemon who pretends to be a little girl.
They lure unsuspecting trainers into the forest by mimicking a pretty young girl and then [insert mischievous thing here].

By hollow I wasn't thinking an actual hole in her back, but rather, the body itself is shaped in a way that it looks like one? ... I'm not sure how to explain that. But say you reached in until you felt something-- that wouldn't be the inside of her chest, it would be the outside of her back.
The other variation I found was a bark-like covering-- if we wanted a way to do that instead without implying a Grass type, maybe it could just be off-colour patches on her back? Easily something like cow markings.
But yeah, the tail, like everything, is still just concept. Change whatever should be changed.

Dark/Fairy would certainly work! Being dangerous, seductive, and hiding something are all traits that could be either Dark or Fairy.
And both of those names could fit if it's a two-stage.

Also, looking at the new picture... I don't remember where I read it anymore, or which country's version it was, but there was something about the creature being born of dirty children that were hidden from a visitor by their ashamed mother?
Rather than actual cow hide, could the spots be dust?

I was watching some heavy metal clips and thought "Why this thing is not a pokemon yet?" So yeah.
I can't draw for shit, but maybe someone will like the idea itself. Type is Steel/Dark.
New ability - Loud Voice, rises power of all sound-based moves for 30% (basically Iron Fist but for sound moves).
New move - Metal Scream, Steel, special, ~80 BP, has 20% to lower target's sp. defense.
I can see it as a powerful sp. attacker with wide sound-based movepool. Would probably go straight to PU with a typing like that
