I'll admit I've tried twice to be a part of r/fireemblem, just so I could talk about some games I love. Never stayed longer than a week or two both times.

Plenty of people play the games for the story, regardless. I really enjoyed Awakening, but for me the departure from the classic and more strategy focused aspect of the older FE games made it a lot less fun. It was a half dating sim, half grinding clusterfuck. In my personal opinion, I don't think these aspects really have much to do with FE, or ever have. Give me interesting maps like any of the X chapter maps in FE7. Give me FOG OF WAR, and difficult objectives with multiple routes to reach them.

Awakening is literally just "kill all the dudes with your much more powerful dudes"
The amount of times that objective said "route" is fucking unacceptable and ruined a lot of the fun for me in terms of the strategy aspect.

Awakening had plenty of issues, but that game will always have a special place in my heart.

I have one FE friend that I met through my ex that I still regularly text with.

I swear while she's not autistic she is one of the most emotionless people I've ever met. Like she can joke around and shit but she is just so fucking apathetic about like everythinggggg. I think she's cool and all, and tons of fun to hang around with but I can't see her ever getting into any relationships.

Same here, me and a bro of mine just like to talk experiences and how we handled certain maps or games.

I made the mistake of hitting up /feg/ and anytime I tried to talk about conquest and certain things (e.g. snipers with counter on the great wall map, because even attacking them with magic activates counter despite countermagic being a thing), it was "fuck off we're not spoonfeeding you what to do" and the ever so classic "git gud", then no more than 10 seconds later it was just spam of the word 'cuck' and "new games are trash they killed FE"

That place makes here look tame in comparison.
