Egg moves could just be learned from the move learner shops, IVs and natures aren't a thing in MD, and you can change your abilities freely in super. So as far as I can tell, breeding has no benefit in MD aside from providing fuel for lewd.

I think Rescue team is impossible to hack, from what I've heard. I don't know much, but from what I remember it was coded using unions, so messing with any of the game's data causes it to fall apart and become an unplayable mess. No ide on Explorers, though, interested to hear if it's the same case as Rescue Team

I played Blue for probably like 300 hours and Silver for 100, but then I was out. Skipped every game until RT which I enjoyed as something of a novelty and then just ignored Pokémon.

My favorite part is when you get back from the voidlands and your partner realizes Carracosta might be stuck in hell and chooses not to verify. You know, on the verge of breaking but still being reasonable and sensible.

The game fakes you out into thinking, oh, so that's how they're going to handle it without getting overly sappy. It's a kid's game after all, can't get too real. Then Espurr comes along going "btw you know everyone's suffering in hell right?" and your partner absolutely freaks out, starts crying and screaming before running away. Fucking brutal.

Started writing a long one, will probably end up being just short of yours in length. I want to use this flat out cruel ruse, but there's a part of me that feels like I'd just be stabbing the reader in the back after Having the secondary main character backstab the main character right after giving them the most development of all of the main cast. Different anon here, but to be honest, Silver Resistance kind of represents everything that goes wrong with PMD fanfics a lot of the time for me personally. Like, it's competently written, it's got good punctuation and all that crap, but the tone feels waaaay out of place, and the fact that the whole setting's built on that kind of messes it all up. Thing is the story doesn't need the ruse, it's already a massive work with a satisfying conclusion. However, the story is heavily based on PMD and I'd like to add in a PMD-style twist at the end just for the sake of it, to try and recapture that feeling one last time before I quit writing. Originally I had a different ruse in mind but Super stole my idea, that's what I get for being a lazy ass. In fact Super stole like five of my ideas which made for a weird playthrough.

So I came up with a p.good one which incorporates elements from both Explorers and Gates and allows for nice interaction and a satisfying conclusion, but reading how most people react to jarring twists in general I'm pretty confident someone's going to get mad over it.

Super Difficult is the highest, but the difficulty rankings aren't very useful. You have early post-game dungeons sharing a rank with Destiny Tower, and Sacred Ruins at only "Very Difficult" despite being undoubtedly the hardest dungeon in the game.

You get rescued by one poke from Magnezones Rescue Squad. You join the squad, poke who saved you becomes partner.

The plot of the main story resolves about allies getting evil and shit. After some time, it is revealed that there is a Ditto invasion going on, led by an evil Wigglytuff. They eventually to take on Dialga, Palkia and Giratina and are heading straight for Arceus so that Wigglytuff can crown himself to Pokegod.

The final mission will involve the Magnezone Resque Squad heading for Arceus tower, trying to stop Wigglytuff before he reaches the tower. They arrive before him but he overwhelms them easily. Only the protags managed to still be fit because of muh friendship. They climb the tower and arrive when Wigglytuff beats Arceus.

Final battle will be against Wigglytuff and his Ditto Squad transforming into Dialga, Palkia and Giratina.

Mudkip's rough. Its evo is nowhere near as nice as Mudkip is, but Mudkip also gets fucking nothing for moves. I picked Chespin so I ended up with something that was good to begin with.

I'd say save, and evolve, and then do a few dungeon runs and DO NOT SAVE. See how you feel about it, and go from there. Remember to not save, or you might be stuck as Swampert long after you've realized you don't like it.

Use items, anon. You don't have to go through a dungeon to get to him so you can prepare as much as you want for that one fight.
You can use ban seeds to disable his health regen if you aren't already. You could also start chugging roids, or bring violent seeds with you. Otherwise you'll just have to git gud.

Words alone cannot express how hard I've sucked Explorer's dick over the years. But goddamn it if Super didn't do every single thing better.

Most notably it surpasses Explorer's strengths, in that the story is WAY darker and more fucked up and the ending far more cruel and unexpected. And it even has consequences for once, like holy shit! The music is also better, and the gameplay is more hardcore. I was skeptical and disappointed for almost 15 hours but when the game finally got to me, it fucking got to me.

I've replayed Explorers since and sadly it doesn't hold up, it feels like when you play Rescue Team after Explorers. Everything's just slightly less enjoyable and the writing feels extremely stilted at times like every moment Groovyle is on screen, unlike in Super where I have to say everything flows on naturally except maybe the very end

Super's the best in the series. I liked pretty much every single gameplay change and addition, such as the emeras, connection orb, motivated/away system, increased difficulty and more focus on item usage. For me, it was the only time I was really enjoying the gameplay for its own sake, and the only PMD I 100%'d.

Story can go die though. When it was good, it was really damn good, but the dire pacing, which was awful even by PMD standards, and the terrible use of its cast of characters sank the overall story badly. It felt so close yet so far to being a great story. Gates has the best story, or at least didn't have huge gaping flaws like the other PMDs had.

Making the best bunch of characters, the school kids, end up having nothing to do with the story and essentially vanish by the 40% mark to make room for a bunch of characters that weren't as good (Expedition society) was a big mistake. they should have just stuck with one or the other. I wasn't keen on the player/partner set up either. I'm fine with the partner being the main character. In fact, I thought it was a good decision since you can't characterise a mute player stand-in, but they pushed it so far that he became the ONLY main character, and while the personality was cute to begin with, it began to grate on me after a while, which wouldn't have been a problem if he wasn't front and centre of everything. The player had less impact than about half the side cast, and looking back, I'm really wondering why he was even in the story at all, in spite of having the most screen time. It's like the RT partner and Wigglytuff guild, except even worse.

I liked Super's post game a lot more, since it felt like there was more a sense of progression and an end goal. For all the people complaining about Super's limited missions, they at least served a purpose. In the DS games, you just get rewarded with stuff you could find in dungeons anyway, so they were a little redundant.

Each one of these games has a "gauntlet" of dungeons, in which you have to do dungeon after dungeon, without a free day to do other missions.

Super's problem is this portion of the game seems to be a good 1/3rd of the game. I don't care if the game's harder, in fact by all means bring it on. But give us some days where we can take a break from the story. A few free days here and there can go a long way.

Gates had everyone acting like dicks, Munna trying to contact you, going to the glacier palace which was a bucket of foreshadowing in and of itself. Besides, it has nothing on the shitty infodumps towards the end of Super, which single-handedly butchered the ending. The slow starts are bad, but I can look past them. I can't look past a rushed finale so easily.

It's a little besides the point however - you can have the best plot in the world, but the story is still going to suck if the story fails to make me care about the characters. Gates, while it's plot was a bit sloppy, still got me to care about the characters, so the dicking around in that game didn't feel that bad. It was terrible in Explorers's first third, since it just arsed about even more than Gates did, and it didn't have any remotely good characters, so the entire thing felt like an absolute chore.

For me, stories live and die by how much I care about the characters. A bad plot with good characters will always be preferable to me than a good plot with weak characters. Explorers had the best constructed (or least flawed) plot of the series, but since I didn't think the characters were written well or made any kind of emotional connection with me, it kind of ended up all being for nothing. Gurdurr in Gates, for example was better developed than anyone in Explorers's main story, and he was a side character in ever sense of the meaning.

Compare it with the Sky Episodes, where the characters were written much better. They ended up being my favourite stories in PMD.

Gates, while it loafed around the most in terms of plot, at least used its loafing to develop characters, and this also took strain off the partner, so by the time stuff eventually started happening with the plot, I wanted to see things end well for them, which for me was enough to make up for the floundering plot. Explorers's climax was -technically- more exciting, but, again, couldn't bring myself to get invested in it.

Super's a bit all over the place in these regards though.
