Pokemon: The First Movie (The Japanese Version) had a chirpy happy-go-lucky tune while Mewtwo was stealing everyone's Pokemon. Completely void of any tension the trainers or their Pokemon would have felt in the scene.

In the same movie, you have the climactic battle with the Pokemon and clones fighting... not battling... FIGHTING. And they pick ordinary old battle music to accompany it. Not that I agree with the dubs ham-fisted and sappy use of Brother My Brother in the scene either, but it does showcase Pikachu's resolve not to fight.

Those are just older examples, in the newer cases we have battle music used in instances where it simply doesn't belong.

Like the ballroom dance with Elle and Monsieur Pierre. The original version accompanies it with a remix of the Xerneas/Yveltal Battle Theme. Not fitting the scene at all.

The dub, however, uses admittedly very generic ballroom dancing music. But it fit the scene significantly better.

I have a feeling people only use ">watching the dub" so people don't see just how much better the dub is with the in-episode music.

Openings are a different beast though, since Cartoon Network has taken to chopping all openings to a meager 30 seconds at most, and Endings might as well be non-existent because they run commercials over them anyway.

The original has more time to shine in both cases.

If they had to give Diantha a whole new team, make it reference each of the Kalos 4 with Pyroar, Probopass, Barbaracle, and Dragalge. Let her keep Aurorus and Mega Gardevoir.
