My two cents on the Mega Charizard is that the only reason why it could (emphasis on could because this is just a theory) be Ash's and not Trevor's is because Godra isn't in the latest movie. The movie takes place after Ash gets the 8th badge, and the Godra episode is right after that. If Godra were to rejoin the party, they would have just placed him in the movie. But they didn't do that, and we've already seen a good handful of promotional material with Zard Y and Mega Gyarados.

Zard Y or not, it's Greninja's time, so I doubt Charizard with take screen time from him. Alain's just a mid-boss, so the big victory will still go to Greninja.
