The main problem with the anime is that no matter how hype a saga is by the time the next arc starts everything is forgotten. Everything I got excited about when DP feels like it didn't matter. Everything I liked about AG was swept under the rug.

As much as I like XY, if the writers do axe the entire cast and their pokemon again, it just takes the wind out of everything. Knowing next arc will pretend all of XY never happened or have little references to it is sad.

There were no references in BW to older sagas until Dawn/Cynthia and Charizard appeared. And even then it was minimal. XY also has next to no references to older arcs.

I think people are often forgetting how often DP brought up stuff from the past and old characters, and AG did the same especially if you count all the specials that aired alongside it.

I'm actually trying to beat every region with Ash's teams used in those regions. Even the same movesets. I remember the DP games was originally planned to come out in 2005, but they were delayed to 2006. I wonder how that would have affected the anime if they came out 1 year earlier. The Battle Frontier arc would have never happened obviously, but I wonder if they would have axed May that quickly had the games been bumped up, or if they'd pull a Misty with her and keep her around.
