I like gen 5 and 3 the most out any other gen and I make sure not to let my bias to cloud my judgement, and and I'll even acknowledge that Gen 3 and 5 had flaws that may turn a lot of people off from it.

And now, I see all these threads about "This gens starters are the best/worst" or "this region was the best/worst" and I see people with different taste they get BTFO by everyone calling their taste shit, then when I say that everyone's taste is different, I get "Hur hur you must like ___ gen" and it starts an argument that I didn't even want to get into.

I used to look forward to leak season, the fakes used to be rarer but either more convincing or a blatant joke, it was actually entertaining.
Now the only entertainment I get is from the thirst of people who apparently only play Pokemon, which is sad.

That's not even getting into all the thinly veiled gen wars.. seriously, this place is just as bad as any other pokemon board, except since everyone is anonymous the 12 year olds are even braver with their stupidity than normal.

I think people are just spoiled by Gen 6's pre release season, that they can't fathom a reason as to why we haven't gotten any substantial information.

Barkeep, can I ask you something? When do you think Pokémon will end? I have my suspicions that it'll most likely get sold to Bamco or Atlus but before that, it will die off. Game Freak will do something so stupid that no one, not even the casuals will want it to continue. The day that happens, Ninty will get screwed out of it's handheld cashcow. But that's just my opinion. I personally want to see the day when I catch Pokémon #1000.

i tend to judge generations solely on pokemon designs. i could care less about the other shit as long as i have the same consistent mechanics of battle/breed. regions/characters definitely help build an atmosphere and can contribute a lot to your enjoyment of the game, but i still judge based on pokemon designs. 5th gen had some weird designs, and so did the 3rd. but i feel like the 3rd hit some solid designs. neither is objectively better than the other, though.

I don't understand why everyone fetishises the children in pokemon games. When they have such better options.
I don't want to say my taste is superior, because everyone has theirs. But surely an actual woman is better than a flat 10 year old.

I feel like I'm the only person that adores all the new evolutions of old pokemon gen 4 had and the concept in general of new pokemon being related to old ones. The only major complaint I have against mega evolutions is that fact that we'll probably never get regular evolutions again.

Make it 6. Never got my Riolu egg so I could return to Iron Island and grind exp teamed up with Riley (auto-heal after each battle.) Two Graveler appear, one of them shiny. I immediately turn on Lucario so he doesn't kill the shiny. Not sure if I managed to take out Lucario or not, but the regular Graveler ended up using Earthquake and killing his shiny counterpart. FUUUUUUCCKKKK

I just get sad sometimes, you know? Pokemon was my childhood, it has this special kind of magic that I haven't really found in anything else -- maybe it's nostalgia at work, but fuck, I care about this series. Even for all the shit Game Freak pulls, as many times as I get tired and bitter from it all -- I keep running back the minute something gets announced.

I think part of it is that this community's been a bit of a home for me -- at least, it was. What it is now... there's still good to be found. Threads like this, the comfy threads -- but god it's buried under so much endless shitposting.

Somewhere along the way... I don't know. Somewhere between XY and ORAS, something in me broke. I want the magic to come back. I hope to fuck that Sun/Moon bring it all back for me, but... it's hard to be hopeful. It's just hard to genuinely have faith in Game Freak anymore.

I hate how jaded I've become.

I never really grew up with Pokemon, insofar as owning the gamesnor trading cards or whatnot, just watching the anime every day after school. I actually got into the games starting with FireRed, via emulation. I emulated each gen after that until Gen VI. Emulated FireRed > Crystal > Emerald > Pearl > Black. Although I did buy my first ever Pokemon game which was SoulSilver before black. It was a great experience thanks to the Pokewalker, people I thought that never played Pokemon were toting those things around and I'd battle with them, it felt like a revival of what I was missing out on in Gen I as a kid.

As a result I have no bias for gens and in fact can't ever decide on one true fave gen. I flip flop on it so much that I really just shitpost about every other gen to rile up the other fanbases.

However I think Gen VI was awful and it was my second purchase with X, and I caved in for AlphaSapphire because of move tutors and new Megas. Ive never felt so manipulated before. I honestly see this series going down the tubes if Sun and Moon does not rectify Gen VI's shortcomings. It actually angers me greatly. Im willing to write a scathing review of X but here I am trying to complete the dex instead inside this shitty ass desaturated bospital painting of a region. Fuck me right?
