My Monferno was killed by a crit psybeam from a wild Girafraig, and I was 10 levels higher, just a couple from evolution. It ended up being my first Nuzlocke win, so I guess he was a worthy sacrifice.

I decided I'd do my first nuzlocke with Yellow when the VC game released. I was going to do something called "Dragon Ball Mode" where you are allowed to use Revives you find, but only the ones you find, and you cannot buy them. A pokemon that has been revived once cannot be revived again and must be released.

Well this faggot Kadabra showed up with a higher level than even most of the trainer battles, and my Ivysaur was out. Fearing the super effective Psybeam, I switched in Charmeleon and I got critically hit, and lost Chareleon. I was so upset, but I wanted a new pokemon, so I came back to that spot, and another Kadabra at the same level showed up, and destroyed my Wartortle too. I feel like it's the same Kadabra... it almost claimed Buterfree, but Pikachu Mega Punched it to death.

It was only after the first two significant losses on that Nuzlocke that I find out there's only seven revives total in Yellow, and they're all pretty late in the game.

I'm doing a Y nuzlocke, and I can use the Pokecenter once before the gym and once after, and can only use healing items I found.

I just thought it would add something interesting since the limited number and rarity of revives would lead to having to pick and choose who gets revived and who stays in the graveyard, and releases being mandatory for a twice fainted pokemon makes the stakes for a revived pokemon feel even higher.

Besides, as I said, the few revives in the game are so late game it's almost not worth using any.
