Lazy day here and in the chats. Everyone's been busy, myself included.

So what does everyone think of this place? I'd like to try some more casual stuff, but we've been running quests almost nonstop. Maple's made more than enough progress to relax for a while.

I'm not so good at kicking off casual stuff though. Anyone here better about that? How do you tend to go about it, assuming it's a group of at least 4-5?

What thoughts go into choosing the Pokémon your OC will have? Do you go by a theme or do you choose your favourites? Do you smogonfag?

A combination of the last two. A theme is hard to stick to when we're catching Pokemon left and right and finding new strategies. Talon Orange will have a theme, but I haven't played her yet. Cocoa has the core for my favorite Doubles team and nothing else, while Maple is in-universe a tourneyfag, so she's capturing anything that would be useful in singles and triples.

She started out with one of my favorites though, being Larvitar and by extension Tyranitar. I was planning on just rebuilding my in-game team with her, but with all she's catching in quests, I'm branching out more.

It's generally just easier to keep track of and more well-organized than IRC, as well as seeing when people are typing, and choosing to get notifications without people having to tab you, all of which help substantially in RP.

Self-inserts are fine, if not encouraged, actually. We're not trying to write a novel here, it's supposed to be fun. When done right, a self-insert is a nicely deep kind of character that's fun to use and identify with.
