It's generally better to use bulky shit that hits hard rather than stall mons like toxapex as things like flinching and crits tend to fuck them over a little more since they give the opponent more chances to get lucky. Still the reality is pokemon as a game does just have a lot of luck to it and it feels magnified by having fights only 3v3 or 4v4 even without taking into account how fucked the battle tree RNG can be

Being able to switch from earthquake bait stall wife to rocket wife is pretty handy for dealing with the AI, and even if it goes slow a more likely win is going to take you further. I don't really like using mimikyu for the tree myself though. I did a pretty similar set up for the singles tree, but I would either put some bullshit mega (like salamence) in the third slot or something that could switch into electric moves (as toxipek and celasteela both tend to bring those out of the AI)

K, ExTyrannomon has been my fav Digimon for years and Mimikyu is easily one of my top five fav Pokémon.
They're both executed in the styles of their respective series, with ExTyrannomon being much more detailed/extra bits and having a more horrific look while Mimikyu is a "cutesy" version of that with its horror played up for laughs in the anime (repeatedly killing Meowth for brief moments). I don't think Digimon did it BETTER, just differently

You find a pokémon you like (or are required to capture and care to an extent). You feel that it need to be in a certain ball to fit your aesthetic values/headcanon/theme that you feel the pokémon or the ball carries/lore reasons, etc.

Now that you have decided you find how to catch it and get it in your game (be it transfer, GTS, if you want a HA, etc).
