If you really care about playing any of those games again, you'll no doubt have the money to re-buy them when older, or emulate them which will exist by then at worst. So its not like selling them literally voids them from your life forever. And if you feel they're not worth buying again, then you clearly don't mind their absence. All you can focus on now is playing a good new game.

If you however don't feel like playing now, you can put if off til you feel a little better. You are feeling the pain of loss, thinking that you betrayed the games, but they're just objects. Ones that will always exist, and can be replaced at any time. So this feeling is not overly rational an will go away over time as you realize that your action was not inherently irreversible.

I traded a 2DS and about 10 games for a sealed N3DS XL and sealed SMT IV collectors edition on Craigslist.

I was already looking to upgrade because I hated how shitty and slippery the Circle Pad was on the 2DS, and I can't stand playing DS games in their native resolution on such a small screen.

I was looking to liquidate some of the games I didn't care about anyways, but I ended up throwing a couple more into the deal when he offered to throw in an extra 80 bucks.

I will eventually buy back the games I miss the most, but until then I have my entire money stash locked into a Sakura-Con fund.

About the "God of Luck" battle in DeSu2, why exactly does Yamato call everyone up and act like it's a big deal, then the characters get really pissed off at him after defeating Billiken?

Are there any tips before starting the game? The only other games I've played in the series are Persona Q and Devil Survivor Overclocked.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that story wise they use a phrase multiple times that they phrase as "preserve the status quo" but which in reality you're supposed to read something like if they were saying "keep the peace." Sometimes when they use it they do actually mean leaving something as is, but other times people will be changing things and saying its about not changing things and it comes off confusing to someone who doesn't realize that there's a weird phrasing issue. It's not the first mistake the book made. It said that sparing Issachar is worth CHAOS+5, while finishing him off is worth LAW+5. Some of the events are also out of order. Walter asking what you think about the Monastery's quest to go deeper into Naraku should come after Issachar, not before, and defeating Tenkai should come right before Walter asks you if you understand how he feels as a Casualry.

I can excuse the old ones since I guess they didn't have much budget and butchering translations was common in the industry back then and it's too late to change them now, but what's their excuse for the games they translated this decade?
They translated 狂神 ("mad god") as "Zealot" for fuck's sake. How is it even possible to fuck up so badly? Can't they read Japanese, or maybe they don't know what a zealot is? What does it even mean for a god/demon to be zealous?
The only explanation is that they confused it with 狂信者 (zealot, religious fanatic, literally "religiously insane person") since it also starts with the kanji for "insanity". Even Google Translate is not this incompetent. How can you land a job as a translator if you perform worse than machine translations? It just blows my mind.

Megaten games tend to use a lot of fancy outdated vocabulary so don't be surprised if you still see unknown words years later. On the other hand most of the dialog is quite simple unless the character starts babbling about philosophy or religion, and I expect a lot of this stuff flies over the heads of many Japanese high schoolers too unless they're nerds.
If you practice a lot you can read pretty fluently in 3 years or so. You can practice by reading videogames too, in fact I recommend it once you've acquired the alphabet, basic vocabulary and grammar and a few hundred kanji. The important thing is to never get discouraged and never go more than a week without exposure to the language. But you will.

So I've been playing this shit for the past few days and I'm actually amazed at the amount of gameplay elements they managed to cram into it.

-Rogue-like dungeon crawling with the classic 6 member party and RPG battles
-Demons recruited through conversation, the dialog appears to have been pulled straight from the games.
-So many dungeons, holy shit, they even added maps. Mostly pulled from the games too with some OC.
-Battle system is pretty much early SMT
-COMP with a shitload of functions and upgrades
-Magnetite system much like in the first two SMT games, but with a lot more functions and importance
-Cathedral of Shadow/Demonic Compedium with full functions including demon registry, demon storage, fusion, triple fusion, sword fusion, mystic change, refine into skill cards etc etc
-Literally every single demon in the franchise. Really.
-Pretty much every skill and item
-Major characters in the franchise are recruitable and have a wide range of equip and customization options
-Demi-Fiend and his magatama are properly implemented
-Velvet Room and Persona are in
-Atma and Mantra are in
-Loyalty system, Case Files etc from Devil Summoner
-Other stuff like Moon Phases, Skill Linkage/Combo, the Colosseum, Macca exchange, ridiculous clothing customization and god knows what else
-Difficulty goes from Easy to Nightmare Mode. Debut/Cheat Mode too.

And of course, you can fuck demons. You can fuck all the demons and mindbreak them. You breed and sell them and put them to work. They also took the F/SN approach and magnetite is now swapped through body fluids, that's basically the main gameplay reason to fuck them other than to raise loyalty. Oh, and you use your demon slaves to earn money and macca.

Mechanics that you would expect to be in but aren't:
-Turn Press system
-Special Conversations (I think)
-Sacrificial Fusion
-Alignment doesn't seem to matter much at the moment
