You might have to nudge it a little bit inside the card slot.
There are a few sellers who have one inside a case so it fits perfectly. But overall, it doesn't really matter as the different design revisions don't do anything for performance (for the most part).

Dream Explorer should already have DLC files on it. If it doesn't have what you want then you can edit the iso yourself.

Yes, there is.
Pop in the game card and boot it like any game card. Doesn't even need to be hacked for it to work!
>>
>>187334492

Oh thats bad. When you guys warned me about mustard gas release triggered by using freeshop, I simply started downloding from 3dsisio instead of buying gasmask. I dont have Switch yet but looks like the mask will be mandatory this time.

This method seems popular in Nintendo then. Any hope that in near future people will find a way to disable the gas trigger?

>>
>>187334141
How do I edit the iso?
>>
>>187336215
It was supposed to get rid of the cache (thus making games that broke using such a cache work) decrease load times significantly (because it offloads work from the cpu), and fix the sound problems some games had. It hasn't done shit to load times, and all the sound problems are still there. Worst of all the cache hasn't been completely removed and thus ndma has even broken more games that used to work.

It will never be a viable project and really just a neat poc at best.
>>
>>187336334
yep sell it to some retard or just throw it in the trash
>>
>>187337174
I wasn't aware any games broke when using the cache.
Didn't they switch to using the upper 12MB of DSi-specific main memory as the cache instead of the ~768KB DSi-specific WRAM? How did that improve things?
What precisely is the NDMA?
>>
I try to dump and then inject my gba save file of my vc injected and hex modified leafgreen version.

I try it with godmode9 but the save editor (a-save) can´t read the file
>>
>>187337642
It improved a fair margin, but they limited it back down to ~7.5MB because the rest was mirrored and causing issues. ndma Stands for new direct memory access, it's just the dsi's method of reading ram directly.
>>
>>187337864
I should have guessed, that makes sense. I guess the CPUs can just go about their business until an NDMA interrupt tells them their data has been fetched.
Are there any posts where the developers have been talknig about this?
>>
>>187338094

>ds games
Literally any R4 that runs on the 3DS will do that perfectly for far less.
>GBA
GBA games can be played on the 3DS natively vita virtual console injects. Literally read the fucking OP.
>>
>>187335408
>>187336192
The positives to it are that it has a simple setup and has no timebomb to tinker with. The negatives to it are that the emulation isn't good, it's much pricier than other cards by three times, and will drain your 3DS battery fairly fast. It also manages to drain the battery while in sleep mode too. Setting up for DS games is easy, but the emulation it offers requires a lot of workarounds with files and such that may give better performance, but still won't give you 100% accuracy.
If you have an original DS/DS Lite, find a slot-2 flashcard and a $12+ dollar flashcard to play GBA games along with DS games. That combo will let you use the cross-game feature some games have (Pokemon, Mega Man Battle Network, etc.). If you have a 3DS, just install the GBA game to it since it will give you 100% accuracy there. Assuming you are on DSi/DSi XL or are lazy by not modding your 3DS, you can play DS games fine with a cheap DS flashcard if you want to give up GBA games, but you'll have to do research to avoid the timebomb flashcards if you don't want to mess with changing the time once in a while. It's a moot point though. If GBA games are important to you and you don't mind messing with workarounds that may not give you 100% accuracy and you are on a DSi/DSi XL that you don't mind charging frequently, you can get a dstwo plus. From my experience with it, it was easier to set up over other flashcards, gave me no problems using its built-in features, and it played every DS game I wanted flawlessly without slowdown or crashes, but the emulation is garbage. Even as I say that, I do not recommend getting a dstwo except as a final resort since you can do just as well now with cheaper alternatives that do not hurt your battery and wallet.

The original fat PS3s have native PS2 hardware.

The later fats and slims have software emulation which varies from game to game. SSX Tricky and PS2 classics on PSN run great, Tales of Legendia and niche games fail to boot.

So, after the latest unofficial nds-bootstrap:

RESIDENT EVIL DS - Video apparently loads much faster now, door animations are instant.

Trauma Center - No more lag, near perfect.

Super Mario 64 DS - Works really well now, nearly instant loading times!

Mario Kart DS - Also working much better now.

Mario Hoops 3-on-3 - MUCH less stutter now, maybe once or twice here & there.

TWEWY - Reduced stuttering, but it still happens frequently.

Thats a pretty weird problem, gm9 might have produced a log file on the sd card you can examine and it might reveal something, clearly failing to mount quite a lot of shit there.

3.61 wouldn't actually be that hard since the kernel exploit wasn't fixed, you just need to find a new webkit exploit and change all the offsets for the new firmware.

But that's addressing a symptom rather than a cause, 3.63+ won't work. To truly futureproof you need f00dhax and members of Team Molecule have talked routinely about how hard that is.

I was trying to set up the sd2vita following a youtube video and after moving files from the vita memory card to the sd card and launching Molecular Shell I'm getting a "file is corrupt" message and can't launch molecular shell anymore. Should I format my vita card or is there a way around?

All the USB ports on the PS3 have the same speed. It's just that the right side USB port is considered to be the first port the system recognizes and some homebrew only read data from that port (ReactPSN)

Japan reads from right to left so it makes sense that a Japanese made console would have their first USB port starting from the right.

When downloading a wiiu game, what's the difference between USB and Loadiine ready games? And I canmt get DLC with Loadiine?
>>
>>187448881
USB - 100% compatibility but only with games that were on disc or the eshop, has region lock but can safely let you play online.

Loadline - Can play any game regardless of region, mods, patches, undubs/uncensors etc.

Just use loadline.
>but muh tr4sh and mayro kratt
Fuck you for playing shit games.
>>
>>187449420
Is it possible to download and use both at the same time, I want my gayrio kart and tr4sh
>>
>>187449824
Yes, and i forgot to mention that loadline is "slower" ie it takes 20 seconds more to load games.
>>
>>187450149
Oh and obviously you can't play online with loadline, unless you want to get banned that is

>>
>>187449420
USB method can load (certain) mods and install modified games too though. Loadiine is literally useless, and worse, as a game loading method
>>187448881
Loadiine has GOD AWFUL load times and shaky compatibility. There's a reason everyone was hyped when an alternate method of piracy got announced.
>>
>>187450616
Kinda, usb ready means it's good for just moving onto a usb and playing on a burger wii u, you shouldn't try to play online while you're on loadline anyways even if the uploader tells you it's fine.
>>
>>187450616
There's no need for a "USB ready" game, that's another thing. You can just grab the game with utikhelper and install it + patches + DLC with no issue. USB method isn't technically region free but it's a non-issue at this point due to Mocha and Haxchi being readily available.

>>

>>
>>187460864
>You don't truly enjoy the games you steal as much as the ones you bought
I understand the feeling you're getting at, but the easiest to avoid the issue is by forcing yourself to play and finish the game as if you had bought it (assuming its not garbage), rather then treating it like a free sample.
>>
>>187460935
But don't you think people who produce things that you enjoy and make use of deserve some compensation for their efforts? To expect others to subsidize the cost of your own entertainment is the attitude of a sociopathic manchild.
>>
>>187461049
Yeah, I just find it's kind of psychologically harder when I don't have "I paid for this so I'd better damn well finish it" pushing me on. When you pirate you just have too many options to the point that it's tempting to jump around and never really give anything the attention it truly deserves, like you would if you had to pay for each individual title.

What am I missing out on? Its not like Nintendo has online, and I already have all the library downloaded, including custom inject gsmes (perfect dark, for example)

Then how about you pay full price for games, buy only digital games so you save them the cost of hardware and buy multiple copies of them? If you really want to support the developers then that would be a great way to do it.
It doesn't make sense to me to have the mentality of wanting to support the developers but also wait for some kind of offer or price-cut.

Yeah buying multiple games at the same time can lead to not enjoying them as much as well. I realized that when I was pretty young and I'd always take my birthday money from parents/grandparents/etc and pool it all to buy 2-3 games and feel happy as a dog with two dicks for a bit only to wind up not really enjoying any of them as much as if I'd bought them separately.

if cemu can play modified isos you should be able to shrink them.

the discs literally use padding to space out stuff on the disc (more accessed accets on inner tracks, dash updates and junk on outside) so most of it is blank space.

Loadiine just works with the extracted files so you don't have that extra bloat.

That is because the CD is too slow to read off of. If you look online at XCX videos - you will see texture popin is a huge probelm as well.

This is because the usb bus on the wiiu blows nuts and is unreliable to putting out constant power and external harddrives take it as an idle sleep state, then wake up.

Internal Nand/SD cards don't wake up. They arent spinning.

This is especially funny because literally anyone can download these games from the eShop server (if you're not getting your games from the source, you're doing it wrong) and see that the size total is correct.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD now available from the Wii U eShop!

At long last, it’s here, in all of its digital high-definition beauty. Just waiting for you. The title is priced at $49.99 and will require 1,764 MB of free digital space (image below) if downloaded. That’s roughly 1.73 GB.

You do know about the big as fuck "patch" for the game, right? The one required to actually play the game? It's around 20GB when fully installed.
The game barely fits on the Wii U disc, which holds up to 25GB of data.
>>
>>187475548
oh you mean the one that is only required because loading from cd is too slow, so it copies the same data from the cd to your harddrive? the one that you just bypass with loaddiine?

that one?

If I purchased the digital version of the game, do I need to download the data packs too?
>No. The data packs are for people who purchase the physical disc-based version of the game. The data packs will not improve load times on the downloadable version of the game.
>>
>>187475828
You're still copying the 20GB to your SD card, so claiming that it's ONLY 6.5GB is incorrect.
What exactly are you arguing?
>>
>>187475981
where does that 20gb come from? my wiiu isn't on the internet and the files arent even that big.

must be satelites and space beamed right to my wiiu, right? or they just copy everything 100x for easy access.
>>
>>187476108
20GB of content doesn't magically shrink to 6.5GB because you downloaded the digital version of the game.
If the game was only 6.5GB, you wouldn't need 20GB worth of additional "data packs" to load it faster.
>>
>>187476261
You fag king. The CD is too slow to access that data, they uncompress all the textures on the harddrive .

Nand in the wiiu is literally an extension of memory. It reads much quicker than a CD so they take the performance hit of using zlib to open compressed textures on the spot.

Read from nintendo, digital xenoblade does not need the pack. You probably have the CD rip, like a moron, so your shit is double extracted in cemu.
>>187475929
>>
>>187476591
I don't care how slow the CD drive is.
If the game was only 6.5GB, that's all that would need to be installed to the console's memory.

Downloading 20GB simply to access 6.5GB of content faster doesn't make any sense, and I honestly don't know what you're trying to argue at this point.

My Vita is on 3.57 currently, and I'm tempted to update it past 3.60 to the current firmware. I want to play new releases, would prefer to keep the OS official, don't want any chance of a ban, and would like to be able to purchase games from the PS Store again. The only thing holding me back is the possibility of something really neat I could do with it on 3.60 that I haven't already thought of. Homebrews and most emulators don't really interest me, as I have a PC for that, although things like fan translations and decensors would be neat. I'm considering buying a backup Vita anyway, that could potentially be a candidate for hacking, but I'm not sure. What are your thoughts, /hbg/? I hope this isn't an echo chamber.

The only viable reason to not use Henkaku is wanting access to 3.61+ games. If that's enough to make you want to lose access to free >3.60 games + emulators and storage that doesn't cost you an arm and a leg(and custom themes I THINK) then that's your decision.
>>
>>187476854
Its because of optimizations for external drive. most drives are aligned to 2-4mb cluster sizes where internal nand is 64kb.

They essentially wasted space on the cd version because they had to solve the access issue. Thats why veryone buy xenoblade digital only...
>>
>>187476981
Anon, this is precise reason I have two Vita's.
1 - 3G one on 3.60, for all the brew I can get my hands on.
2 - non-3G one for latest OS and whatever shite Sony throws my way.

Both OLED models.
>>
>>187477252

No.
If this was the case, they'd just make you download the 6.5GB game and run it directly from the hard drive.
Fucking listen to yourself. You're delusional.
>>
>>187476981
As far as I know, if you spoof, you might still be able to buy stuff off the PS Store on 3.60. The OS isn't altered in any way by Henkaku, even by Enso, it's merely a few files you'd have to remove to get all traces of it completely gone if you wanted. Also, being able to use external storage of any size for practically no money (or none at all if you have a spare external hard drive and a PSTV) is quite a plus.
What games were you wanting to get?

Well, with henkaku you get homebrew, emulation, psp and psone, SD card storage and free games up to 3.60. If none of this interests you, or you'd rather play the new releases then updating is the way to go. Of course, if you're not in a rush you can always wait for a bit to see if they find a way to get new games to work, but I don't expect that to come soon

The data packs are designed to speed up load times by installing parts of the game onto the Wii U or USB storage device.

>The data packs are for people who purchase the physical disc-based version of the game. The data packs will not improve load times on the downloadable version of the game.

He's trying to argue with me that the 60GB of Wii U games I have aren't actually 60GB because he downloaded Shovel Knight and it's not that big.
When he realized his argument didn't make any sense, he resorted to samefagging and eventually posted TPB results for highly compressed Wii U games, claiming they were an accurate representation of required space.

I specifically called him out on Xenoblade Chronicles X, which was listed as a 6.5GB download, because it needs 20GB of downloaded patches and updates to play.
In response to this, he's trying to convince me that the additional 20GB of downloaded content ONLY applies to the physical version of the game and exists only to read the disc faster.

So essentially, he believes that 6.5GB of content requires a 20GB optimization patch.

>>
>>187476981
>fan translations
Right now there's really on IA / VT. Everything else is mostly a copy / paste job of existing translations onto games that were 3.60 in Japan, but 3.61+ elsewhere. Although the Trails Evolution patch has new translated content. 3.60 patching might let you play some games coming out soon, so that should be taken into consideration, but the general scene seems scarce and I'm not really aware of any serious translation projects of Nip-only games otherwise. The other thing is that PC ports of Vita games seem to be increasingly common and it's likely 3.61+ releases will get ported to PC or PS4. So it's best to hold out and see what happens with individual titles you're interested in. You would feel dumb updating for something that might be playable without it, unless you really need the Vita localization over all other options.
>>
>>187478179
So, business as usual...

>>187477893

most of the time the flasher will refuse to do anything

but this can happen
>Note that in some rare circumstances, it may be possible for the flashing process to brick a counterfeit flashcart and render it permanently unusable. This is unlikely, but nevertheless only original listed flashcarts are supported. To reduce the chance of receiving a counterfeit card, it is recommended that you use a reputable site to buy your flashcart (such as NDS Card)

what, so you have to buy a new battery for your ds lite just so you won't get raped by the supercard?

new3DS (+R4 GOLD 3DS RTS) / Vita is the best combo for handheld gaming.

Extremely poor people should just buy a PSP. Unless they REALLY want DS games, they could just get ds lite+$5 flashcart
>>
>>187507112
the ds lite doesnt do well with a $5 flashcard

the supercard ds2 has a integrated CPU that offloads everything to, making it not suck.

The Ez3in1 is native GBA - and can play 256mbit game - unlike the 3ds shit that has to emulate it.

You might need to re-iterate your overall point.
It looks like you've already found a handheld that does exactly what you want. People who use an O3DS obviously can't expect perfect emulation, but they get to run emulators on the same machine they use for other stuff at the cost of frame dropping and other occasional fuckups.
For absolute purism, there's nothing better than the original console. EZ3in1 does deserve some appreciation, but it also requires the use of the DS, which is a clunky fucker or the DS Lite, which feels like shit.

IWBTG has a larger scale and the dev's original goal was to "do it better". I prefer the Syobon/Mario movement over what IWBTG does though, and I'll always appreciate this game on whatever system people manage to cram it onto.

Do you not know about aspect ratios of old televisions? They were all 4:3

>The internal aspect ratio of the SNES is 8:7. What the console actually outputs is 4:3. What you most likely see on those box shots is analog stretching, which was in itself tied to the analog TV sets of old.

none, you use a SD card - as it is not spinning like a HDD it isn't shit.

I got a old 320GB hard drive with my wii u games on it, I got BOTW installed to internal memory though, it seems to run better that way. I gotta plug my y-cable into my pc usb hub because the wii u can't even power my HDD with 2 ports.

no your sd card is too slow for loadiine. You probably have a class2 POS card your mommy bought you for $5.

harddrives are much slower as they are spinning, have slower access times, and are split across platters.

64 GB, first time I have a wiiU, and it's 5.5.1, so I really don't know which games first, is Loadiine really that bad? If it's only loading times, I wouldn't mind. The more I look around the more I see I need a HDD
>>
>>187518247
thats sleep mode, dipfuck. not spindown.

Spindown is controlled by the drives FIRMWARE. I'm sure the wiiu can interact with every external firmware there is though. They must have done something that even software on a computer cannot.

I love how everyone in this thread is on welfare and can only afford shitty spinning HDD's to pirate their crappy games.

Back in the PS3 days people got banned just for going online. Certain games (mostly shit ones like CoD, granted) would detect if they were mounted with a backup loader and were a sure-fire way to get your console ID fucked.

It's just Nintendo that as-of-yet has a track record of only banning cheaters (if we look away from the semi-recent banwave that was most likely either Pokemon cheaters or tranny CFW debug vectors being detected as cheating).

Accuracy is how accurate the emulator is to the original hardware. Accuracy is most often achieved by tighter syncing. More accuracy means less graphics and audio glitches, at the cost of additional CPU power required to run the game at fullspeed. There are hopes that less CPU power will be needed for more accuracy with the use of tighter programming.

Low accuracy emulators will have a large amount of visual and audio glitches. They will typically use various speedhacks to skip over problems, as a result many games simply run due to a variety of patches while others don't work at all. This can become very problematic when ROM hacks use these speedhacks to run by abusing the errors to create otherwise impossible behaviour. This means that the romhack can only be used in that one specific emulator. Such an issue has occured with zsnes.
