I enlisted in the Swadian army in my new playthrough because I wanted to see how much of a difference I could make just as a common soldier but the Swadian AI won't even give me the opportunity to make a difference. I still have been in a siege or a town/castle defense even though it's been more than 200 days in-game, whenever it looks like there's going to be a siege (all lords congregate in front of an enemy castle), they stay there for 30 seconds, then one lord fucks off to god knows where and the rest of them scatters after 1 one minute.
They also don't defend properly, we lost both Dhirim and Uxkhal while there wasn't a single lord stationed there to defend.

I am doomed to wander the earth and feast endlessly.

Starting from keeping your friends alive, aside from the obvious get a medic companion, get better units, and so on,

--the skill that saves your friends from death is the surgery skill, you can easily add to your medic a 1+ surgery skill point by
-putting 2 skill points on your own surgery skill
-adding 1 point and buying the surgery book
-adding 1 by buying the surgery book and the int book, but I doubt you have enough money at that point to buy 2 books.
about stacking in general, basically you are stacking those points to the companion with the highest level skill, so if your best medic Jeremus has 4 surgery with those 2 points I talked about he gets a +1 from you, and that's valid for any skill.
As far as I know, you are the only who can stack its own points on your most skilled companion, a second less skilled companion can't stack them on the most skilled one. I saw an anon talking about multiple stacking among all his companion but I haven't read about that anywhere else and I haven't seen anything like that in my run so far. Maybe he was just shitposting.

--the skill that makes your men level up faster is Training, they all stack, so many trainer companions means faster level up for your army.

--skills aside, try to use your brain when you make your army up and see what units you lack and what units suit your playstyle better or worse. Never cheese with Knights like a lot of people do here, better honest lower difficulty than dishonest cheesing.

--you obviously know all the F commands and the minimap, if you want to them get more used without any pressure, use the custom battle mode or find some shitty looters or another weak group that stay on defense and dick around with the F commands and the minimap until you feel more familiar with them.

--Acting as a bait on a horse helps in lowering the pressure on your friends.
