Goddamn, why is every mod thread on the official forums organized by absolute retards? Instead of having the mod info + download in a single well organized post, you've got "unique" and "creative" names for info dumps, 18 separate stickied threads, obsolete and beta downloads easier to find than the latest stable version, info threads separate from the download links, no screenshots, fuck's sake.

Every time I get the itch for M&B I'll hop on the forums to check the mods and always get floored by how retarded it all is. It's not like you can't navigate it, it's not THAT hard, it's just that if I spent months creating some project I'd probably also find at least a half hours worth of time to clean up the delivery.

Im autistic take it all with a grain of salt

1. First stickied thread at the top of the board should be "Info + Download", use whatever words you like as long as it's clear and obvious that this is where you go to figure out what the mod is and how to get it. No reason to be in 2 separate threads. If you can, include screenshots, make it look pretty. Show off the new stuff you've added and try to include them in spoilered tabs when they're relevant rather than one huge imagedump spoiler

2. Have one dedicated thread for bug reports and when you release a patch to fix bugs, incorporate it into the main download so nobody has to go searching for it. Have a separate thread for patches so people who already have the whole game don't have to download the whole thing, but make it clear if your main download is up to date or not so people don't waste their time. Put it into the thread title if you can.

3. Any other threads you sticky should be official or organizational in some way. You don't need a separate stickied thread for suggestions or conversation or screenshot sharing (though, the screenshot sharing one isn't so bad to include) because that's what you have the subforum for.

4. Include changelogs in the main thread, spoilered of course to save on space. Changelogs, version info, download and mod info should all be in one thread. Putting download links at the top of the thread can be nice for efficiency too, a nice banner followed by title and download as a subtitle just keeps it all neat - anyone who gets enticed by the mod description knows where to go.

tl;dr version, less is more. Pic related is what drives me up the wall, there's NO reason for that kind of bloat. Additionally, if you've got your own mod vision or only work by yourself/with a small team, don't even include a suggestions box, you wont be able to put them all in and you wont want to either but even giving people the option to get involved is an excuse to piss off autismos.

Always add datestamps to updates. Version numbers can be tricky especially if you're not using a standard numbering system. Version 1.0.2.1239ABkJ./wea1 doesn't help me, but if that version is followed by (8/28/2017) I'll know it's the most recent version.

Pic related is a decent example. They lose a few points for the "creative" titles instead of just keeping shit clear cut and obvious, but because there isn't as much bloat and everything is pretty obvious it's very easy to navigate. Really its all no-brainer shit but it feels like 90% of the mods on the forums don't bother with proper organization/formatting.

Last Days of the Third Age is good. Has some side quests that are unfinished but otherwise pretty good.

Perisno is just a mod compilation set in a generic low-fantasy setting with giants. Otherwise it's pretty well made overall.

Prophesy of Pendor (or PooP) is somewhat similar to Perisno, but with much more original content. Some people complain about it's grinding and sort-of railroaded 'Prophesy'.

Chronicles of Might and Magic has a really fun Magic system and 'dungeons' that lets you destroy whole armies by yourself if you become strong enough by spellcasing or with mere stat bonuses. The mods is really uninished and neeeds alot of polish other wise.

Another mod with a magic system is Phantasy Calradia, which is basically a high-fantasy version of the vanilla Calradia. Some of the assets are wonky, but the magic system is fun. it also has a cleric/paladin Faith system which I havent tried yet.

There's Undead Calradia with is a mod by some Anon which basically makes it so you can't recruit units from villages but instead get the troops you kill in the battle field as undead, which won't be knocked out but killed.

Warsword is eh. Has alot of variety but requires alot of polish.

There's other fantasy mods which I can't remember as well. There's one with a magic system some Anons really like.

Most of my screenshots are actually from when I went back to try out Knighthood orders. I lost a lot of screenshots a long time ago - I don't have any existing original M&B screenies.

I enjoy not knowing anything about the factions and learning about them as I merc around. The small scale of PoP's map also makes me feel like I've won the moment I've conquered like two towns. Really large maps (especially 1257AD) can cause some growing anxiety as your character's attention becomes increasingly divided and you have to worry about the possibility of lord defection.

PoP is also comparably difficult to Native due to the original M&B map size and the ability to use the Noldor as a crutch when starting your own faction.

The path-finding skill will increase your map speed. With extremely high path-finding you can almost always outmaneuver anything on the map as bandits have 0 path-finding and most lords have 1-2 path-finding depending on the mod.

Native has deceptively decent tier 1 and tier 2 units that can carry you if you have sufficient path-finding. Some mods have extremely good mercs and you can have them basically carry you through the early game.

The smaller your party the better your post-battle loot. Renown rewards are based on relative strength not quantity, so a large group of low tiers can sometimes be both more effective and give you better renown bonuses.

I'm playing vanilla for the first time and it's great, I'm signed up with the Khanate, we're trying to fight the Nords and Vaegirs right now and we've almost completely destroyed the Vaegirs. Despite currently being Marshal they ignore every command I give, run off on their own to loot or fuck merchant donkeys or whatever. Every single fucking castle or city I capture immediately falls because I can't garrison it myself, and MY FUCKING FELLOW LORDS refuse to as well. One time, I capture Tihr and had the fucking Nord king and 450 men banging on my door. I had fucking 66, and I KILLED 300 OF THEM before going down. The part that upsets me is when Sanjar Khan, a character who is "devoted" to me, runs away with his 200 men when I ask him to follow me to help break the siege.

I'm sure this horse shit can be fixed with mods, but should I continue playing vanilla or not even try and go for the mods?

It can't be fully fixed because the priorities of the AI are kinda fucked.
Just ask them to follow you, its the only way to get them together for a long enough period of time, and even then they may decide to fuck off. Influence is supposed to fix that in Bannerlord.
If you got to the point of invading other nations and managing fiefs I think its time for you to switch to either Dickplomacy (really adds a lot of QoL feature, and the sex has to activated by you and is absolutely unnecessary) or Diplo if you really want "only native" with a few fixes and some small features.

I'm quite proud of this, despite being subsequently captured and being robbed of 20k denars. I did in fact order the Khan to follow me, but I believe the AI run away from large parties. I hate how they dart around like flies on a corpse. I think it might be because I have low honor that they hate me. It can work in some mods, but in Warband all the factions are very close to each others, meaning lots of war which leads to peace being asked more quickly since the kingdoms are under more pressure.
In Gekokujo, as a counter example, while playing as a lord for the Nanbu clan I had made all the lords of the Date clan (our only neighbor then) my prisoners.
Even like that and refusing to release them it took a long time for the war to end, giving us a lot of time to conquer their shit.

dickplomacy has stupid shit like companions complaining about ransoming troops, and you don't heal between tournament rounds, and tournaments increase morale with faction troops (effectively doing nothing) instead of your relation with the town.
it also has occasional bugs like player perma-death and invincible female NPCs.
