In CIV5 BNW, when doing ICS, what is your favorite approach?

I find Egypt to be incredibly powerful.

Personally I go this route roughly:
>Pottery for shrine
>If enough of other plays seems to want to be religious: Yolo on stonehenge
Then
>Get settler policy in liberty, then open piety and get the two tier1 policies, then finish liberty, then finish piety.

For religion I do
>Goddess of Love = +1 Happiness from cities with Population of 6+
>Church Property = +2 Gold for each City following this religion (Helps economic stress of rapid settling and roads)
>Mosques & Pagodas = 3 Happiness, 5 Faith, 4 culture per city
>Itinerant Preachers = Religion spreads to cities 30% further away (Once you convert 1 or 2 cities, it snowballs to ALL of your cities very fast).

The reason for the Pantheon is that your temple replacement (Burial Tomb) gives 2 happiness as well. So 2 From temple, 3 From religious buildings. With 5 happiness free citizens at no money cost (Burial tomb has no maintance, religious buildings cost faith), then you get 1 more because of your pantheon.

So this, with policies, allows you to have cities with 6 people costing only 2 unhappiness for city and then 0 for people.

I've manage to settle 9 or more cities before turn 100. Usually they all have between 3 and 6 people too. When I do this, I also have positive gold and happiness.

Pic is screen-cap from a consistent result of the strategy.

>>187280001
Something similiar, but with either Spain (easy mode) or Byzanthium (hard as balls mode), all in Diety difficulty, where getting a religion is almost impossible until you roll a good faith start.
Anyway, by just getting the religion i go:
>Whatever pantheon gives the most faith early depending on the start
>Tithe (much better on the medium-long term)
>Mosques Pagodas and Cathedrals with byzantium, the former two with Spain
>Missionary cost reduction
The result is similiar to yours with Egypt, but a bit worse. Mainly because i have to spend even more faith on a third religious building for only very slightly better returns than Egypt Unique Building. I do find the missionary cost reduction essential though, once you get rolling with the ICS you gain a buttload of faith and with missionaries you can immediatly set up a city for religious purchases instead of waiting for it to spread.

Did i mention playing Byzanthium at Diety has proven to be the hardest game yet? Good luck getting a religion before the others eat up all the best beliefs, better restart son.

Simpler stuff, or better looking stuff?
>>
>>187284981
I play most other strategy games, Civ/ES/Paradox etc. but just never got into Dominions for some reason. Maybe it just didn't feel very intuitive. Should have read some guides I suppose.
And I like better looking games I guess. Complexity doesn't bother me as much.
>>
>>187285437
Ha, if it's graphisms, then yeah, can't help you.
For the rest, Dominions is very frustrating because there's no real competitive scene, so there's no real guide to follow. Everything depends from the situation and your own playstyle.
>>
what are some good map pack and where to get them for civ v that work with voc populi?

Honestly, I'm not sure. Obviously Paradox's games (Europa Universalis and Crusader Kings) have some deep diplomacy. Avoid Stellaris, tho. Maybe Distant Worlds as well, but it's skippable, it can be resumed to "don't kill me while I kill everyone else".
Otherwise, the Last Federation is all about diplomacy, including keeping two races from killing each others.

Leader skills are being changed so that everybody starts out at 1* and you can go up to 10* depending on your government/etc.

Missiles are getting buffed.

Authoritarian governments are getting an influence buff, and there's a new feudal civic to encourage vassal play.

The robot DLC that I assume you'll be pirating at the same time introduces robotic hiveminds. They have mechanical traits instead of biological traits, which the fans think is different somehow. Play is expected to emphasize resettlement.

How many components of this thing work in the base game? The better CS stuff for sure, maybe the Civ IV diplomacy stuff. Is there any way to get this much improved AI in the regular game? That's easly Vox's strongest feature.

It's like us leaving Earth only to find that all the other alien civilizations are doing the same thing at the same time as us - with the massive time spans of our universe that is simple extremely improbable. We do have the fallen empires which are an example of what I'm talking about done kinda right, but I just wish the 4x symmetrical start could be shaken up, possibly with an option when setting up a game.

Yeah, the mid- and late-game in Stellaris are sorely lacking in fun things to do. FE awakenings + one crisis per game are the only endgame content. Doesn't matter what type of race and ethics you're playing, eventually it just boils down to staring at the screen forever and ever if non-expansionist "tall", or blobbing / vassalizing everyone until Domination victory as a militant expansionist.

New to 4X?

Tall = Handful of highly developed cities / systems / whatever shit the 4X game uses as base. In case of Stellaris having a smaller number of planets.
Wide = Great number of less developed cities / systems / whatever shit the 4X game uses as base. Blobbing is basically going all the way through and painting the entire map in your color, often through conquest when the free space gets used. Pretty self-explanatory.

Games usually have various reasons for going either way. Stellaris only got somewhat viable tall options in Utopia expansion. Basically put every planet and pop you own increases research and unity costs so smaller empires have an easier time advancing them, especially for the latter that unlocks perks to offset being a smaller empire with less mineral and energy resources that wide empires have a much easier time accruing. Emphasis on "somewhat viable" since there's literally no tall victory condition and as such the endgame of a tall empire boils down to either staring at the screen forever since there is quite literally nothing to do in the game after FEs and one crisis (complete lack of diplomacy, roleplaying events, major threats etc.), or starting to blob like any wide empire until reaching Domination victory.
>>
>>187340076

I think vassalization stays the same. Wiz is only adding one civ that supposedly makes it harder for the AI vassal to rebel while also buffing the tree.

Its kind of a shit because vassals still dont contribute to income though.
>>
>>187326951

Dont go there. Physicists write guiberish all the time so that they can claim that some work was done and the university/state in question keeps funding them.

>Whats the advantage of having them instead of just conquering outright?
Vassalization war goal, especially with Domination tree perks, lets you conquer more clay in one war instead of chipping a big enemy down with regular cede planet demands that may require many wars and long truces or the meme liberation demand that is basically a worse vassalization war goal. You don't get resources out of vassals, but they're forced to join your wars and with Domination tree you do get increased naval capacity and increased research speed for techs unknown to the other party that works both ways. Vassals also can't colonize normally. Vassalization is absolutely the best demand type for actually winning the game fastest since planets owned by vassals count towards Domination victory. If you want, you can later assimilate all the systems of your vassal by spending a rather large amount of influence (depending on vassal size) and time both of which can be reduced with Domination perks.

Tributaries on the other hand give you energy and metal but are otherwise completely free and they can't be integrated.
Protectorate is a sub-type of vassal when the vassal has vastly lower tech. Protectorate gets massively increased research speed for their overlord's techs until certain point after which they become regular vassal. The overlord also gets Influence during the process.

Basically vassals are useful no matter whether you eventually want to control their systems yourself (through assimilation) or to use them to play pseudo-tall since you can then make do with a handful of planets for better research speed / unity generation, but also get increased fleet capacity, energy and minerals out of vassals and tributaries. Biggest shortcoming is that vassals and tributaries can freely join War in Heaven sides without having to declare war and fight for their independence first, so if you're depending on a lot of tributaries you're going to end up deep in the red.

Adaptive
Talented
Rapid Breeders
Sedentary
Repugnant (I can't remember if you can still pick deviants or solitary those would probably be better)

Pooled Knowledge
Subsumed Will

Adaptive stacks with being hive minded for a 20% habitability from the start.

Rapid breeders stacks with the +10% from the early genome mapping tech & the +25% from being a hive mind to give you an insane 50% growth speed. Since you can't really ever integrate captured planets (unless you go down the bioengineering tree then waste time integrating them) you need this to repopulate conquered worlds later on.

Pooled Knowledge + Talented starts your hive mind with 3 star leaders.

Hive Minds don't have the easiest ways to gain influence so adding the +1 from being hive minded to the +1 for Subsumed Will gives you a vital boost to that.

You don't even need all the rest - this would solve it on it's own.
The critical thing is forcing you to split your doomstack by having multiple strategic objectives that need to be taken in parallel, not series. Fortress-worlds would do this - require long sieges that HAVE to be resolved before your fleets can move on to the next world.

Basically an optimized doomstack - mid late game is enough alone to beat anything without any buffs.

So all these buffs work early tbqh, I wouldn't play around them too much. You can military conquer galaxy without being militaristic.

On a serious note dude, where is it more profitable long term to build them?

You know there is a region, a border marked by discontinued arcs from which all FTL methods initiate travel.

But there is also this further region beyond that border and the triangles ( as seen in picture ) where I can still build - so I was wondering where you guys consider it's better.

in my inner systems I put them as close as I can to centre. If outer systems I put them far away and at the less likeliest poiint of enemy entry

I'd say to not build them too close to the system's border, or any enemy can destroy it really easily before you can defend it.

Try building in a way that enemy fleets won't come across it if they warp into the system.
If defending a planet, cheese by making a cheap shit defense station with an FTL inhibitor as far away from the planet as you can and place your butthole station as close to the planet as possible since your fleets always warp next to the station when entering a system that has one.

>>187406875

They will attack them if no stack of yours in threatening their planets and if they spot them. Besides, unless you build stations inside his territory after the war has been declared you are always forced to do two jumps to travel between adjacent systems in his territory.

Also if your radius doesnt cover all his territory you are pretty much forced to build a corridor and he will surely harass you while you dont control all ports. Thats why I dont use this. Wormhole fucking drives me nuts!

Its great for traveling inside your borders though. The best in fact.

Several things:
All your colonies are locked to 100% tax, which while it does not have a negative impact on happiness it does slow down growth.
A large amount of private ships (frieghters/liners) will be scrapped because the civvies can't afford to run them anymore as they no longer have a treasury to pay the maintenance.
They will also be VERY reluctant to build any replacements, again for lack of money.
This means throughput of goods in your empire will drop, and happiness will drop as a result meaning you make less money, and growth will slow to almost nothing.
As there are less freighters, they will concentrate on strategic over luxuries making the situation nosedive even faster.
This continues feeding back on itself gradually getting worse and worse until the entire economy tanks and corruption goes through the roof.
Even if you switch to another gov. at this point it will take decades to unfuck itself.

The only benefit I can think of is if you know you're going to war and don't want your ports to use materials building frieghters.
And the short-term boost of having access to a pile of money.

This seems like a bug to me - something that dicks you for literally no reason.
But you never know, this could be working as intended. It is a mystery.

Without a written record a culture doesn't really have much of a history. Part of the reason European cultures became so elaborate and complex is because they had thousands of years of written works to build up their ideas and philosophies. If you rely only on oral traditions you are limiting the capacity of what your people can remember to a very low level, it's unlikely a culture whose only means of preserving the past is oral tradition will ever advance beyond tribalism.

Is that supposed to be for >>187451349 ? Game feels more polished and has more options across the board for the most part. A few things from 4 got cut which is a shame because I really liked them, election speeches for one I gather those being gone is a common gripe so they're coming back for the 6th game they have in development

Overall the game's pretty fun though and yeah you can still just build a comfy peasant farming island if you want. Can easily run out of space though and immigration is harder to control in 5 so you run the risk of an unemployment crisis fucking you without high density industry once you get to the later eras.

Stellaris is 3D in visual representation only. Functionally both games play on a two dimensional gamefield. I would wholeheartedly recommend Distant Worlds. Getting through the interface and mechanics is a steep learning curve, but there exists in the madness stories of epic space operas.
Don't automate anything. You'll feel overwhelmed, but it's the best way to learn. Sometimes being the race that gets taken out by mega-powerful space invaders can be just as fun as glassing planets yourself.

STOP
>>
>>187482846
The prethoryn or unbidden are fucking strong now, that's why I'm waiting for the crisis strength slider in the next update.
There is no way to beat these fags unless you ally or conquer 60% of the galaxy.
I think there starting doomstacks should around 200-300k and from there scale to how many planets they have infested.
>>
>>187482846
Actually they DID tell everyone they were doubling Crisis strength between 1.5 and 1.6.
If it's any consolation, in 1.8 there's a slider at game start where you can set for yourself the crisis strength.
It shouldn't be any consolation at all: it's just Wiz abdicating responsibility for balancing his game. Now when crises are boring and weak, he can just smirk and say "Not my fault, you should have buffed them". And then when you buff them and they're too strong, he'll just smirk and say "Not my fault, you should have nerfed them". It's a total fucking cop-out and Wiz is essentially refusing to do his own job of game design. I fucking PAY him to balance the game correctly such that I can have a fun experience, and his response is to give me a slider so I have to a) do his job for him, and b) predict at game start what the geopolitical situation will be in 2400 with regards to power blocs being able to band together or not against the crisis? FUCK YOU WIZ YOU FUCKING HACK, THIS IS BEYOND LAZY AT THIS POINT. THIS IS BEYOND INCOMPETENCE AT THIS POINT, THIS IS YOU NOT PERFORMING THE BASIC FUNCTIONS OF YOUR EMPLOYMENT

I've noticed mods for strategy games try to penalize war the most since it's the easiest for players to cheese. The result ends up being tedious shit that just makes you dread combat. I guess making war so horribly unfun you never want to do it is one way to balance a game.

Have you been researching things evenly, or have you specialised in one or two things and 'gone deep' into the tree?

Because if you've been specialising and they've been spreading it around, they will have more tech despite you having better tech.

Start a game with the smallest galaxy and sector sizes so you don't feel overwhelmed helps when learning too.

Yeah I can definitely tell. Back when it was very early access I thought this game was unplayable. I just got back into it after the latest major release and it's much, much better. Still a lot of weird problems, but it's good so far. Certain factions like Unfallen or Vodyani seem to be totally worthless when played as the AI. Also the AI is quick to spam you with how they feel about you every other turn.

On that thought, does anyone understand the fucking combat system at all? Especially the ranges thing, it seems like it's totally random or you luck out that you chose the right card against the other guys.

For example, I'll pick turtle and it'll do really well against an AI. It'll be like a 4v4 ship fight. I'll keep winning. But with the same set of 4 ships, sometimes I will just randomly get fucking wiped and do almost no damage to teh enemy, and I have no idea why this is. I can't seem to wrap my mind around what I should be doing to counter an opponent's ships. At first I thought it was range vs range, but depending on the card you both choose the ranges are different every time.
>>
>>187539429
>>187539037
I keep on trying this but the other factions just keep destroying them before I can snowball. also doesn't help that sometimes the missions require resources in another another province or require me to trek half wat=y across the world.
>>
>>187539890
The range on the card is half of that. What weapons you use also matter.

>>
>>187539929
I never bother with missions if they aren't close by, personally. And also you'll have to defend those converted places. You get a lot of free units so sometimes you just gotta roam around a tough ass group and stop the AI from fucking with you.

Not all quests are worth doing, in fact a lot aren't unless it's realistic for you to do them quickly. The rewards can be totally random and sometimes you trek half way across the world like you said, and you get 200 dust for it.
>>
But is there any good Vodyani female rule 34 or even decent smutty pinups, that's my question

>>
>>187540136
this certainly helps explain it, but I'm still a bit confused. Even worse, anyone else playing the game who hasn't read this post probably has no idea what the fuck is going on. They really should either make it more intuitive, or explain it way better. Also, explain it in-game.
>>
>>187542373

>>
>>187542373
>>187542632
Oh wait, that's actually totally different. I had no idea the side of the ship you put weapons on mattered.
>>
>>187542632
no no, i just meant the range and card system. Like how would I ever know that if they are long range and you deploy short, you're long range for 2 rounds and then short range for 1? Also, how does the computer decide which of the 3 places my ships get assigned to?

If I have 2 different types of ship, one long range and one equipped to be short, it will not separate the long and short range ships into separate slots, it'll just kind of mash them together randomly.
>>
>>187530146
Taxes are one, sometimes it's best to set taxes to zero to allow for increased planet growth. This can sometimes actually increase your revenue, in a roundabout way.

You don't need to run at 0 tax all the time. It gives a good population boost in the early game, and you as the player still get a cut of anything that civilians build at your shipyards (more pop also means more civilians building shit).

The zero tax exploit is specifically really OP when done with a prewarp start, otherwise it just sets you up for a nice midgame surge usually.
>>
>>187528639
They added more end game stuff but mid game is still a huge slog. They're revamping a lot of stuff in the next patch which is expected next month I believe, though no official date for it has been given they have basically run out of features to talk about and are now making excuses about why some stuff hasn't been included which is always a sign they are close to release.
>>
>>187562157
Pirate the game. If you have to beg 4chan for free games then you have zero friends anyway so not like you need the multiplayer capability.

>>
>>187563324
Migration has a few triggers. The first is pops won't migrate unless the planet they are on has no more free tiles. Once the planet is full, one pop will migrate to a new planet that has open tiles, if doing so would make it at least as happy as it is on the world it currently resides. In other words, if your empire isn't offering enough incentives to migrate then aliens won't migrate if doing so will make them less happy. It's kind of a catch 22 for non-xenophile empires because they probably won't have aliens at full citizenship by default which causes a big hit to their happiness on arrival, meaning they probably won't migrate unless the planet they are on is a total shithole. Similarly if you don't have any planets of the biome type the aliens like they definitely won't migrate.
>>
>>187563524
Ask your friends to buy it for you then. Put it on your wishlist and drop unsubtle hints it would make a kick ass birthday gift. Or maybe your friends are just jack asses and don't buy you shit.

missiles fixed yet for stellaris?
>>
>>187574668
Next patch will be a massive buff to them. Their speed is increased and they have the ability to retarget if their original target is destroyed while they are en route. Though only if another target is within a certain range of them. There will still be some amount of overkill, but considerably less than before making missiles much more viable. I think they were also tweaking point defense a bit as well but I don't recall any specifics.

Oh I forgot, they're also indirectly buffing missiles by nerfing kinetics. I don't recall specifics there either except that they mentioned they didn't want Kinetics to be good at everything and to give it some definite draw backs like the other types, so it's more balanced.

You don't
You can, however, have mining stations on 4 of the asteroids and have absolutely nothing happening

The problem with migration is two... no threefo... no FOURfold.
1) Migration laws are scattered across like 4 different submenus. You need to have an appropriate migration treaty with the other empire (diplomacy). You need to allow that species to live in your empire (species rights: citizenship) and allow that species to migrate (species rights: migration), and then make sure the planet you want them to migrate to allows them (core worlds policy probably). Which is, to say the least, CONFUSING.
2) And it's not just your laws that need to run this gauntlet. The AI empires' legal system needs to allow migration too, which you can't see or do anything about if you could see
3) They need to be (prospectively) happier on your worlds than they are on theirs, accounting for all habitability, species rights, strat resources, happiness buildings, and the policies interacting with their ethos
4) Their planets need to be full and yours need to be empty (which is a circumstance that only occurs for a brief period midgame, if you're lucky)
5) And even if all those conditions are met it takes fucking ages for anyone to migrate anywhere

Of course, in the end it's all fucking irrelevant anyway because genetic traits aren't strong enough that it's really ever worth all the bother of intentionally fostering migration. Who cares if a Zebulon or a K'zzint is manning your farm? Even in the best case scenario where one has agrarian, that's just a whole 0.9 extra food a month: it's hardly "OOOOO, STAND BACK WE IN GROWTH SPURT NAO"
>>
>>187581096
Plus if you go genetic modification you don't really need migration treaties because you can just genemod your own pops to be whatever you need.
>>

Also even without it I consider GM one of the best ascension perks.

You have the damn nerve stapling.

Conquered 2 - 3 empires everyone ethic is mixed or they are unhappy for a decade?

Nerve staple everyone, boom no hapiness, no factions - just wait 10 years and remove the nerve staple.

Ah and during the nerve stapling they're just powerhouses for minerals and food anyway.

i mean dont get me wrong,DW is a great game but it's infinitely more tedious to play than stellaris. It's also past its lifespan and there is nothing new coming to it ever again at this point. Many of the problems stellaris had at launch have been fixed already and will continue to be fixed down the line on top of the new dlc content, the same cant be said about some of the glaring problems DW has had for years that were never improved on at all. Not having the mod workshop for DW is also a gigantic negative

it's been 2 years since the unofficial announcement and not a single thing has been shown or been spoken about, I'm not holding my breath. If it comes out then good, ill buy it and hopefully enjoy it like DW but that doesn't make stellaris bad by any means; through the use of about 150 mods I've managed to create an experience that not only far exceeds vanilla but is legitimately enjoyable. I'd hope if they are working on it at the very least they have played alot of stellaris and taken concepts to improve their game without stripping what made DW cool.

>>
>>187597721
and? the point is that i can easily fix all my small gripes about certain aspects of stellaris that i find stupid with a handful of the thousands of mods on the workshop, I can't do that with DW. Out of all those mods about 30 change gameplay in any meaningful way but i could get by with maybe 5-10 and still fix all the core issues that the game has with its balance. If you can't acknowledge its problems honestly then you're just fanboying and showing your own bias, there are dozens of tweaks they could have made to streamline DW and make running an empire less of a chore but they didn't do it even after years of being out and multiple expansions. The fact that DW takes dozens of hours of play and self motivation to learn to even begin to properly understand is a huge problem and a barrier to entry; your comparison to civ 5 is unfair simply because DW is more complex and dramatically less ui friendly than the classic civ games, I didn't need to constantly google or open the wiki database to understand shit in the older civs. The tutorial doesn't even scratch the surface of properly teaching you how to play DW beyond the most basic concepts
>>

Rimworld isnt complex or hard at all. And no, making the game hard for yourself by landing on a shitty region and increasing difficulty doesnt counts. The base complexity of the game remains the same, the rest is just dealing with rng and other bullshit.

okay, it's less complex than obscure games that 99.999% of people have never even heard of, let alone played. That doesn't change the fact that the game is not intuitive, is lacking basic ease of use features and sets you up to fail. I haven't played rimworld but a 5 second search shows me a game that looks absolutely nothing like a space 4x, not sure why you would even bring that up. Explain me how the fuck diplomacy works in Endless Space 2? I'm in cold war with everyone 24/7 in all my games and AI reject everything. Sometimes they ask for help but instantly close their borders and attack me. Meanwhile they cheat and can ignore my closed boarders.

You play as a space empire spanning millions of planets. That's closer to a dragon than that kid with just one planet trying to declare war on you.

>>187601131

You're hurting my fee-fees ;_;
Surely AI War isn't that obscure, right? Right?

Guys?

>>

Not really, if you read what the curators have to say about it you find out the drake lives in eternal pain, loneliness and torment because it has no other drakes to be with and it comes from a time when the universe was much MUCH younger and conditions were different.

You're straight up mercy killing it if you fight it. Now if you choose to hatch the egg and bring another drake into a life of agony THEN you're the bad guy.

I've been here for a while and your joke only works if you identify as the kid and even then its a bit shit.
>>
>>187601872
It was a Stellaris joke, but it ended up being about 4Xs in general.
It started as a pasta like :
>[ayys] declare war on me
>wipe them out
>somehow I'M the bad guy

In relation to that statement and Anon's unability to understand why his overreaction caused the galaxy to be pissed at him, another pasta popped up, that would basically be :
>kid throws stone in my garden
>kill him and his entire family
>somehow I'M the bad guy

>>187601992
It's /civ4xg/'s first meme, of course it's shit.

Tried to mess with the database, just gives out errors, guess I missed something some place but I can't find it. Damnit. I'll just hide the systems offscreen on the map or some shit I guess.
>>
>>187605387
How do you mean mess with the database?
>>
>>187605409
You can just open the .mdb file directly and edit stuff if you know the password. When I play in systems other than Sol, I often tweak the planets to make them more Earthlike. That's about it, desu, I don't need it much otherwise. But well, you can basically change any value you want.
I don't even remember what it is, I open it up using some LibreOffice shit that remembered the password for me. Won't say what it is past a bunch of * either.

They have no shields and heavy armor, so use lasers, plasma and the like. They use bombers and missiles, so use lots of flak turrets and point defense, you'll save a lot of damage.

>>
>>187613604
And an Activision game, at that.
>>
>>187613604
Tetris is even older, and it still has fans playing it.
Okay, the strategy part has probably been talked to death, but Puyo Tetris is a thing.
>>
>>187613931
It doesn't have a healthy general though does it
>>
>>187614008
I don't even know if Puyo has a general.
And if it had one, it would probably be "I WANT TO FUCK THE DRAGON GIRL UP THE FUCKING ASS" time seven hundreds and fifty.

So yeah, bad example, but I'm sure we have older games with living generals. Like Runescape.
Can't guarantee they're healthy, though.
>>
>>187614293
Runescape and OSRS get weekly updates
>>
>>187614293
Except all the good generals get new good content semi-regularly. The second it stagnates and gets murky is when the circlejerker sets root as interest wanes in the game itself.
>>
>>187614327
How old are they?

>>187614464
True. That's why /ksg/ is more of a sob blog than a real general.
I remember going there after I played the game, it was a painful experience. The only discussions related to the game were complains about the writing (Hanako's route being half-assed), and fanfictions.
>>
>>187614659
If you count age as time since last new load of content 5 hours.

Doesn't mean much. You can enjoy chocolate but still feel terrible afterward. Same with food, or drugs. Something can be theorically pleasant while being actually stressful on the psyche. Have you ever tried jerking off instead of working on an essay? You don't enjoy it at all.
>>
