Should I become xenophile?

Pretty much no one around me is a threat and I've already found 2 broken megastructures a dyson sphere and a science array although kinda far from me.. but soon enough I'll have mega engineering and literally 0 problems and 0 reasons to expand other than tall.
>>
>>186843520
no
>>
>>186843520
I wouldn't go xenophile, you'll lose fanatic materialist and the research bonus it gives.

But, I wish those events happened more often though. Would make the game feel more alive once the initial surveying is done and anomalies/encounters stop happening.

Do you guys think they're worth repairing that far?
>>
Should I just tear down my food buildings in Endless Space 2 once I'm maxed out on population in my current systems? Everyone is unhappy and populations keep leaving, only to be replaced the next turn. Is there something I'm doing wrong with food? I'm at war to expand my borders, but I currently don't have anywhere else to colonize right now.
>>
>>186845179
no. How much does it cost to repair?
>>
>>186845262
Build approval improvements and enact toys for boys. Food is also used for manpower.
>>
>>186845441
30k minerals over 4 years for a fully functional dyson sphere.

Anyway It would save me 100 - 200 years of unlocking the actual ascension perk and the dyson sphere is kinda worth it for the energy.
>>
>>186845902
>30k
jesus what a fucking waste. I wouldn't even bother without even if it was literally in my home system
>>
>>186846406
>without

>>
>>186846406
30k one time for 1200 energy every month forever, not a bad deal I would just recover the minerals in 5 years.
>>
>>186845262
the reason people keep emigrating is because there's places to live where they'll be happier
invest in approval and people will stop leaving
also, your manpower income is completely based around your food income; if you have high food, you'll have decent manpower, which is imperative since you're waging wars right now
>>
>>186846654
they produce 1200 energy now?
>>
>>186845902
Fix it, never worry about energy again.
>>
>>186846921
No I've moded the game to make it balanced because otherwise I would've been 2 times more time and produce only 40 energy lol.
>>
>>186846976
well why the fuck are you asking if you should do something in a game you've modded and then not tell anyone you've modded it. Even so, it seems like a waste, yes you're up on energy production, big whoop, you're behind on literally everything else
>>
>>186847163
Because literally if you look at statistics more than half of people who own stellaris use this megastructure balance mod.
>>
>>186847163

unless it was changed, ark ships give 100 flat influence on the system's FIDSI output
also, if you can, take as many arks by ground invasion as you can; you retain the vodyani pops if you win a manpower fight rather than a naval fight
>>
>>186847372
I don't have it, didn't even know about its existece, it breaks saves or I can install it and use it in my current game?
>>
>>186847372
name? there are like 4 pages of megastructures tweaks mods
>>
>>186849971
Well It's "Improved Megastructures"
but I've literally looked trough the source of 4 pages of mods and tweaked my own which basically has Improved Megastructures tweaks for costs / time / output but now I can build simultaneously and unrestricted by colonisable planet or presence of another megastructure in system so it's possible to have a sentry array around a Dyson sphere all this surround by a ringworld which has a science nexus floating above it.
>>
ROI is a flawed way to decide to build something.

You should use "what else can I spend these resources on".

Do you have planets you haven't yet but should colonise? Do you have 'core worlds' you haven't upgraded? do you have a fleet that needs to be replaced or enhanced? Do you want to fight a war and want the resources to fight it?

And part of that is "how much of a priority do these things have" and "can I still do enough of these things while investing in the megastructure".
>>
neat, I got a 25 tile Gaia world out of a terraforming event
>>
>>186850459
All of those can be simplified to "are there other things with better ROI I could be doing?"
>>

Unfuck the combat system, primarily. Make defense stations worth shit, and rebalance ALL of the components.
I remember when I first cracked it open and rushed the first beam weapon research, I was incredibly confused and even pissed off when I saw the fucking characteristic on the level 2 beam turret.
Relative to the original turret and fitting in the same slot, it had:
1.3 times the damage
2 times the power requirement
4 times the cost

That is utter and complete bullshit, and it's no wonder why just spamming the base corvette is so effective.
The combat also needs actual control, not just letting the fleet autoengage everything in its fucking solar system.

I played Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude quite a bit, but I regret all of it.

It's got decent core mechanics, but the sandbox part is sorely lacking and there's really nothing you can change or affect in the universe since all sectors spawn new faction units endlessly. Even the fucking main war in AP is just restricted to specific marked war sectors where both sides technically take sectors, but endlessly spawn units so there's no point in participating. All the regular missions you're offered are random generated shit that make new enemies or supposed "demand" pop out of nowhere rather than being generated out of actual universe events. Stock market in Albion Prelude is also outright broken. Once you get some of the highest tier M2 ships you'll start to lose interest since even if you fit it with best weapons there's really nothing to use it on rather than going on a random meaningless rampage since nothing you do affects the universe in any way, only lowers your reputation. Carriers and fleet management are retarded useless money sink, not to mention micro heavy due to having to outfit everything yourself. Factory chain empire management only exists to supply you with more ammo or ship parts or to make more money which you won't really need for anything after the M2, or especially M2+ breaking point.

It's really like Mount & Blade in space, but without any proper endgoals or changing world other than the linear main quest which often fucking LEVEL SCALES encounters anyways. Though I hear some revamp mods might fix this shit, but I don't really have the energy to go through the early game crap from the beginning.

>>186875989
>Cravers
>weakest
They can easily crush anyone in early game and steal all wonders due to massive FIDSI bonuses and higher CP cap, their colonies can't rebel no matter the approval level and even when planets deplete slavery bonus keeps them operational, not to mention all planets have higher pop cap, plus the Craver population collection bonus actually benefits from depleted planets, making each depleted planet increase ship and troop damage. Religious option at the start of their quest that gives a free ship also makes them the fastest expanding major faction since they can nuke minor faction systems in one turn with it.

I think they're by far the strongest faction.

Endless Legend or Age of Wonders 3. Former has more interesting lore and much more fleshed out 4X management stuff, whereas the latter has more generic fantasy lore but a much higher focus on tactical turn-based battles, unit abilities and spells than EL and it has several story campaigns consisting of several levels in addition to random maps, basically it's much more like Heroes of Might and Magic than 4X. EL also has main and side quests, but they're tied into the main randomized map game rather than being a separate campaign with strict levels or something.

Go for EL if you want something that resembles Civ more. If it's dragons you're looking for there's Drakken who have both humanoid and proper dragon units.

They are also flimsy as fuck. The tracking bonus is overrated. More importantly though, You need to make everything you do about what you're fighting. The same weapons you use to fight a fallen empire won't work very well against the unbidden.

KA/megacannons do just fine against the unbidden, in fact it's a really easy way to defeat that disaster. But don't bring that to fight a fallen empire, because you will just get dunked. 80/20 mining lasers / proton torpedos on 100% corvettes is the key here. If you don't have mining lasers (shame on you!) you can sub in plasma cannons. And it's been statistically proven that bringing more firepower is always better than messing around with point defense or anything like that.

Where do 4chan-ers usually upload files to share with each other?

I want to share Improved Megastructures edit to incorporate every single other useful tweak from other popular megastructure mods.

Actually all that is changed is that you can now build them anywhere in your borders unless the capital world is there otherwise a ring or a dyson sphere would kill your colony and so on + you can have all of them in the same system nothing else has been change.
>>
What complements corvette spam mid game?
I've tried L - kinetic artillery and the rest medium plasma canons on 10 cruisers paired with 100 spam corvettes... and it's good but they just rush in and their artillery barely does anything to enemies...

I'm tempted to try destroyers with .. what? Medium - long range shit to complement corvette spam? I've heard destroyers should stay behind corvettes or wait lmao battleships are the ones that always stay behind should I use corvettes spam with a bunch of battleships that sit at long range?

For example after I finish vasalising my retarded angry neighbors I'm going to start a federation with another one which has a huuuuge fleet power, is fanatic militarist egalitarian and loves me, we're going to invite just nations that are already self-sufficient and strong on their own to have an efficient federation - otherwise what's the point to join in with 3 other dick heads with no army that are also pacifists and decline everything.

Try additional map modes to spy on other empires via map and make an idea about their situation.

I want to enhance gene editing a little and I'm not sure what to change:

Targeted Gene Expressions - is a rare tech that gives you 1 gene editing point, now what feels more balanced?

Making it give you 5 points instead of one:
" Stricter control of RNA and protein production on the cellular level. " the description makes you think this shit would've been more rewarding.

Or simply make it a repeatable technology? So me or other species could indefinitely add one gene point by researching it?
>>
>>186942216
I see, I think on of the members is a Pacifist, but they always seems to be at war (which they usually win).
>>
>>186942496
Repeatable makes sense. Kind of like Core World Tech, you can get +1 multiple times.
>>
>>186942496
My complaint about genetic engineering is that it doesn't affect current leaders like PSI and cyber upgrades. I can't make my leaders charismatic or semi-immortal.
>>
>>186942986
I've installed this mod to fix that issue:
Enhanced Gene Modding which allows you to update leaders and so on, pretty useful and not game breaking but rather a fix that should be official before becomming official.

Anyway I've seen a pattern every popular and sometimes not so popular mods that balance the game in a mega positive way or add or fix features eventually end up in the next major patch as features.

Same is happening with this mod.
>>
>>186943153
That's a good change, though I'm not sure about the repeatable tech idea. Cyber and Psi don't get a repeatable tech to improve themselves. Psi does have the RNG but that's too unreliable to be counted on.

You can also trade in 100, 1000 and 10000 increments based on shift/ctrl/alt clicking. Forget which is which.

Depending on if an empire has a glut of resources or is desperate for them, you can easily trade at a 9:10 ratio in your favor.
>>
>>186950292
Doesn't matter no one wants to trade me it's all - 1000 even tho most empires in galaxy like me and have trade willingess of around 1:1 ( some ) 5% ( farily more ) 20% majority - towards them.

So I can't even trade 1.2x energy for : 1 minerals because they are always at -1000 ....

So what the fuck should I do stick with traders for 2:1 or are there some mods to work around this?

I need some help with waging war in stellaris. I've got a really good game going with a hive mind empire. Lots of good planets, lots of territory, blah blah. Chose the great devourer trait that makes everyone hate me lots, first mistake I guess. Now two empires have come together and declared war. It's early game so their fleets are just above 2k. My fleet easily over powers them. But I can't catch them. I am loosing planets on either side of my empire and I can't do anything about it. My fleet is too slow, and when I do catch the enemy they retreat instantly to safety. Do I let my worlds burn and focus on taking theirs?

Trick your opponent. Build a lure station in the middle of a system (or several systems) near your border, and leave a single "defenseless" transport next to the station. Enemy fleet attacks transport, gets moved to middle of system because lure station. Have your fleet jump in to attack before the enemy can run away.

They'll only last a few seconds either way, though stuffing a fortress with 4 forged crystal hull mods caused it to last a minute against a 20k fleet. Still died but it did it's job pinning the enemy fleet into position.

Sometimes I do build fortresses if only to stop enemy reinforcements or from them to try and snipe re-taking their planets.

The important part is watching their fleet prepare tor jump in system so you can time your fleet's arrival to be within a few in game days. Never expect a fortress to win against an real fleet.
>>
Ok so tested out if you form a federation with militarists you can still basically liberate / vassalize anyone you want but even more funny you can demand cede planet to most empires I've tried to.

If I remember correctly the even will make them be able to trade with you some of their cruisers or something, they're basically a mini mercenary trader dlc if you get them.
>>
>>186958879
oh ok, they look cool, migh keep them for collection stationed in my home world next to the pirate ships you can rescue
it cost credits or minerals?
>>
>>186958980
They will offer 15 cruisers equipped with plasma weapons and arc emitters and around 4000 total fleet power in exchange for 3000 Minerals.png minerals and 1500 Energy Credits.png energy credits. If asked to lower the price there is a 50% chance they will lower it to 2000 Minerals.png minerals and 1000 Energy Credits.png energy credits, otherwise they will politely refuse to reduce it. If the offer is accepted the fleet will arrive in 30 days at the empire's capital.

Graz has been taken, Austria is no longer a threat, just annoying.

To the north Sweden has gotten quite a lot of cities, some from Denmark I'd assume, Germany has asked me to help beat some sense into Sweden, I agree.

The Huns and Russia are in a stalement, but Persia and Babylon are helping Catherine, she stole some of my lands tho.

China has 15 cities and Korea keeps losing citites, the Mongols are starting to knock down city states

And i have no idea what is happening in Africa, and the Americas.

I'm thinking, actually I'm going for it:

Making a mod that automates trade but this way:
It parses all empires you have communication with and starts from the highest trade willingness then according with your settings in a menu I will implement it's going to trade w/e you defined minerals, energy, resources for again w/e you want at the optimal price by that I mean obviously for minerals / energy above 2:1 ratio which you get with trader enclave anyway.

Basically you could play an energy / mineral only empire and if you're friendly at least with some good pool of empires you will forever be sustained as you'll get most deals at a 75% - 90% trade exchange.

You think this is good, also suggest me more features it's going to be a long road as it's going to have lots of events and fuckery.

The infuriating thing is that they said how they were going to fix it and it made sense (trigger completion the moment you enter the system rather than scan the planet anomaly), and they said they were going to implement it in 1.6, and then they just didn't do it.

Is there anyway to have pops of a swarm and pops of other species live together?
I know that if you own a planet with other species, they will be exterminated/moved away. Does it also work like this the other way around? If a empire owns a planet you have pops on, are they forced to move too?

I've got ~200K fleet power now, I've rebuilt and colonized 3 ringworlds and repaired a Sentry Array and I'm currently just waiting for whatever crisis I get. I finished that quest and in the next couple turns all those cone headed freaks left the system. Whatever, thanks for the free explorer ship and influence nerds.

Also, what exactly effects populations leaving systems? I have it happens sometimes, and I feel like it happens even in systems that are happy. So why are they leaving? Do these populations just effectively die, or are they actually showing up somewhere else in another Empire because of political alignment or something?
>>
>>187032819
Food. Check the system screen if it's negative.

-Your food production in a system also decreases by a huge amount if it's sending logistics ships to outposts, one system supporting two developing outposts is usually enough to dip it into minus. You can click on outposts and change which one of your developed systems is sending logistics ships to prevent one system trying to supply two or more outposts.
-If system approval drops low enough it also has massive impact on food output, at the lowest possible you get -75% food. Over-expansion (total owned systems), over-crowding (full planet) and negative anomalies (per pop on planet with negative anomaly) generally lower system approval.
>>
>>187031420
No, that's how it's been since Utopia. Megachurch is simply a new type. Any modder could have done that work in 10 minutes.
>>
>>187032819
>>187036427
also noteworthy that overexpansion actually got increased in the latest patch from -10 per system over to -15 per system over

if you intend on going wide when not playing as unfallen (infinite 100% approval), cravers (immune to revolt), or riftborn (don't build for influence and don't care about food deficit from low happiness), i highly suggest investing in either a mod that increases expansion cap, or curiosity detection (T2 and T3 luxury detection both got bumped down in tech tiers, meaning you can get the -50% expansion disapproval luxury far more easily)

>it's worth noting also that this increase is actually a buff for united empire, as the building that increases expansion cap when built on T4 systems costs 1000 influence, which UE has in droves
I think UE also retained both their starting trait of lower over-expansion approval penalty and the slightly better version of the "+1 system until over-expansion penalty" tech and instead get two like before, which is also an indirect buff considering the starting amount of systems you can colonize without over-expansion penalty got increased so each extra one matters. They also start with federation as political system that grants one additional system, though I think its effect was nerfed unlike the UE unique stuff.

Sword of the Stars 1 was an arguably decent 4X game. It was too low-budget to be popular, and the game shipped in a really bare-bones state, but they added features through (paid) expansions and as it matured it was a pretty decent turn-based version of Stellaris.

So, Paradox gave Kerberos some money to make a sequel. Everybody was getting enthused, because even though the game seemed pretty much the same it had a much better look and added new ideas like psychic powers.

It was well-known that the lead dev was an egomaniac, but it turns out that he's incompetent as well. After missing several deadlines, Paradox had them ship a horrid pre-alpha that was unplayably buggy, has poor core gameplay, and doesn't even look good. Promises to fix these problems over time (through paid DLC, of course) did not make consumers happy.

As a result, Paradox kicked Kerberos to the curb, yet somehow Kerberos scraped together enough money to make a game in a dead genre where the typical entry is a free game made by a single individual over the course of a week or two. The twist is that it uses the Sword of the Stars IP, so you're controlling a single dude in what is essentially the universe of a 4X.

This game, Sword of the Stars: the Pit, was not successful or popular, even within the microscopically small roguelike clique, but apparently if you nickle and dime your customers with DLC, Paradox-style, then you can stay in business.
>>
>>187048661
desu it feels more like a weirder version of Homeworlds than Adventure Mode proper.

I wonder if it's even possible to smash enough of Stellaris's code so it can run an Adventure Mode...

>>187049007
Man, that sucks. Got any Paradox statements on the lead dev?

and desu I know it's meming, but roguelikes are still out and about in the mainstream - DoomRL's paid sequel got funded, Spelunky is all over people, FTL and Binding of Issac and Don't Starve get a lot of people erect, etc. - even games that just use roguelite elements still get people going.

Paradox has had some pretty massive failures. SotS2, Magna Mundi, and East vs. West come immediately to mind.
>>

Paradox as a publisher keeps it professional. It's the dev side that gets the Wizes.

Rome AD. Not as big as I'd like, waited to long on legions and sent to many to one place. France was literally asking for it, though, demanding horses and declaring war when refused as soon as I had a decent chunk of legions. Didn't go well for him, though now everybody hates me for taking Paris. Warmonger penalty seems MUCH MUCH higher than it should be; I'm getting the "You'll send us into a dark age!" crap for taking a single city and literally nothing else.

So far, it's better balanced, but I wouldn't say outright better. Expect more new mechanics and stuff, not new buildings and units that do similar stuff to vanilla stuff.

>>
>>187077606
Depends how they scale it. If each ruler level gives you +2% to resource production, having leaders 2 levels higher could potentially be equivalent to a 4% boost to minerals, energy and research together, which isn't bad.
>>

Traits like talented wont give +1 star at the start anymore, but instead increase the maximum cap (which is only feasible for venerable scum). Governors now increase resource production. Rapid learners is now a valuable trait.

>>
>>187096967
Yeah, but only 2, which is the amount required to sustain each citizen. So with just a granary and no bonus food resources you're growing at literally the slowest rate possible.
All those cities would need to have been founded on about turn one to have slowgrown to 13, and they clearly were not.
The only thing I can think of is massive trade route food imports... but why would anyone bother?

how are you supposed to deal with a Vodyani Ark super early into the game? I'm watching a video where he extracted from a minor civ that was right next to him, and within 15 turns he has a second ark, and gives it 12 movement, and immediately goes and just sits on an enemy home system. What is the counter to that, if someone were to do that to you in multiplayer? It's not even 20 turns in.
>>
>>187110143
>what's the counter to that
You lure them into the Cravers.
>>
>>187078158
If you're still lurking, did you use any mods besides Vox?
>>
>>187110143
invest as much as you can into fleets and manpower
it's very hard to stop an ark rush (as that's the vodyani's most powerful ability alongside their amazing heroes), but it is certainly possible and if you actually manage to repel the ark, you can potentially hunt it down and destroy it, meaning GG for the vodyani

also, all nations with a pacifist-dominant senate can now force peace a la drakken, which the vodyani would have to respond to with a militarist senate in order to pursue aggression
>>
>>187110596
Historical religions if that counts as a mod
>>
>>187110773
it just seems so early. I think in most games before turn 20 I usually don't even have the research to make actual attacking ships yet. Even then, It takes like 2-3 turns to produce each individual one. How many of the first tier fighter would I need to repel an Ark?
>>
>>187111350
>not being able to shit out basic attack skiffs by turn 10
You must be shitting depleted glaze when you spawn with Cravers right up your ass.
>>
>>187061242
When you get droids you get a popup asking to either do it or delete the data. If you install them then you can get a free planet.
>>
>>187111350
a lot, but if it's turn twenty and it takes that long to make simple attackers and protectors you have problems
do keep in mind that the only way a vodyani can do meaningful damage with an ark rush is if they start to slot in titanium a2g rounds, which enable them to actually take systems
use this to your advantage; your ships cannot be harmed so long as they're in the hanger, so build up your fleets until it's time to strike. depending on your faction, this may be easier or harder; unfallen and cravers, as usual, are quite resilient to ark rushes, while those like the sophons or horatio are quite vulnerable
>>
>>187065404
Get the version with the Argos Naval Yard expansion. It's what Stellaris should have been.
>>
>>187112114
oh ok, that makes more sense.

>>187111638
>>187112114

Maybe I'm missing something here, but for me it usually takes over 10 turns just to get the research to make the ships in the first place, and that assumes I just rushed straight for it and didn't pick up something more meaningful like the production research thing on the economy side

and since I rushed it I don't have any extra production so it takes forever to build the ships in teh first place. Do you guys play on fast or something?
>>
>>187112842
the usual tech order is
>both T1 economic techs; the second one can be delayed if you don't have any hyperium reasonably close, but i don't really recommend it
>the public-private partnerships tech in expansion and exploration tree; if you already have decent research and need something more pressing, this can be skipped
>if you're going for rapid colonization, pick up the food tech in empire development; also, if you're not cravers and you didn't already start with it, grab xenobiology to parley with minor factions - this is where pretty much all of your manpower income early game will come from
>finally, pick up the small ship schematics; if you started near cravers or vodyani, this takes MAXIMUM priority, sometimes to the point where you put this before the public-private partnership tech (though i prefer doing it immediately afterwards)
>grab chain gang tech when required; similarly, unless you intend on going on the offensive, grab weapons and defense tech whenever you feel threatened
>otherwise, focus on colonization tech for expansion

All bow before Kongo's palace of goodies.

This is diety standard size btw.
>>
>>187114119
ok, that's pretty close to what I do anyway, but even that first Titanium research usually takes me like 7 turns to research. If I'm rushing the small ships, I'm usually looking at, at least, 15-20 turns to get them at all, then I have to actually produce them.

I'm usually not in this position, but after watching the guy's videos, I started to think to myself how the fuck I would deal with what he just did if somebody online were to do it to me, or hell, even the AI. On the "normal" tech order, even you say, if you haven't seen the Vodyani or anyone yet, to get up to 5 techs before getting the small ships. Wouldn't that be far too late unless you noticed the Vodyani like literally 3 turns in, to change your tech order?
>>
>>187114275

>>
>>187115912

>>
>>187116252
Light blue wings are faith, which you can use to build religious units and sometimes other things depending on your religion.

Tourism is a mystery mechanic related to the culture system, and it contributes to you getting a cultural victory in some way. This guy will win the game before 1900.
>>
>>187117405
So just like 5 then.
>>
>>187102887

I've had games where hive minds conquer large parcels of space and then the AI turns on it, 3 to 5 factions at a time. Those and fanatic purifiers are always hated.

If these grow too fast on insane under the control of the AI, they become an absolute nightmare.

Yes, make your species intelligent & natural engineers to rush the techs for voidborne, go fanatical pacifist + materialist for unity, agrarian idyll and technocracy (lets you get luckier picks for needed tech), don't get ascension perks immediately, only when you can get voidborne, find strong allies to keep your ass safe, and you should get voidborne by around 2265.

get academy embassy early, constantly check the marketplace for heroes for sale

in my fast riftborn game i have 6 heroes at turn 50
>>
>>187149403
well fast is a huge difference, but I haven't been able to buy heroes from the market the whole time. It says there's an "ultimate quest" that blocks me from buying them, and it's been that way for at least over 100 turns. Any idea what that's about?
>>
Also, I'm at the point where I'm just going to start disabling economic victories. It's lame when a Lumeris on the opposite side of the galaxy goes untouched and wins an economic victory in half the available turns. But not only that, it seems everyone wins by economic victory because trade is so fucking insane. Lumeris won 3 times in a row by 200 turns, and out a 450 turn game I won at 305, also because I accidentally won with dust. Weren't they going to address the trading companies being too good?
>>
>>187150370
that's the academy quest; complete the big control point match and you can start buying them again
>>187151869
>not already disabling economic victory
i'm pretty sure they are in the middle of addressing it
>>
>>187152117
oh man, that academy quest was located so insanely far away, and i was caught up in a craver right next to me. Didn't realize I even had that quest at all after making the academy.

And yeah, I guess a lot of people disable the economic victory. I usually don't like to for the sake of diversity in win conditions but damn, shit is broken
>>
>>187153280
i really do feel like there should be more heroes on the marketplace, as it stands there's only ever one, maximum two up there at a time
because of this the tech to buy them feels completely worthless until privateers, at which point you can sell your own ships, buy them back and give them the neutral flag to get past borders; quite useful for scouting or bypassing annoying closed borders

The time during which you wipe them out and replace with your own (assuming theres decent habitability at all) is lost resources. Cosmopolitan factions are OP as fuck once they conquer neighbors, the only disadvantage being science and unity.

Im thinking in using the reinforced subject empire buffs next patch to experiment a vassal approach and see if I can conquer, get resources and still grow tall at a decent rate.

Have you guys played with:
Expanded Stellaris Traditions

It seems cooler in what it gives compared to plentiful traditions ( which I'm currently using - it is also the most popular of all tradition mods )

I was more thinking of AI War. I really liked how they tried their best to improve the game.

Arcen's games are pretty bad (namely a Valley Without Wind who has really strange animations), but they really try, and I like that.

Is releasing a planet as a vassal ever worthwhile, as opposed to sticking it into a sector and forgetting about it forever?
>>
>>187222304
If you have genetic ascension, you could conquer its empire - instantly gene mod it into nerve staple then mod them back so that with their memory wiped join your majority attraction ethos, release their homeworld and gift them back their planets - boom you transformed your enemy into a good friend.
>>
>>187222304
I thought it was only for flavor.
>>
>>187222560

>>
>>187222304
Last I checked, sectors don't fight your wars for you, or give you resources without per-planet maluses to science.

So no, not really.
>>
>>187222304
I'd assume if you conquer a hivemind, releasing it as a vassal will stop the pops dying off.
>>
>>187222937
Dunno if you don't care about research / unity at all just go ahead and own the galaxy and finish the game quick by conquering, depends on your play-style.

When I play as mega corporation, I like to conquer nations that present a threat or are impossible to trade with, shape their economy while they are nerve stapled, turn them into usually what I am fan materialist / egalitarian and release them as an independent empire that I can trade with later on at good deals.

If you are late game and already have all tech / relevant traditions just go ahead and manage them within your borders.

So I have two questions.

1) Is Civ VI worth investment into or should I stick to IV and V?
2) How do I extend the longevity of Stellaris? When I played on my own, it got boring after about... trying to remember, 30 - 40 years in? Maybe more like 50 - 70, Idk. And when I play with a friend, even then it gets boring, especially when the galaxy starts getting crowded up.

What's there to do at that point? Is it just a constant need to war or are there other ways to grow tall?

Also, sorry about last night.

repugnant is a great choice, since it's a total non-issue for a fanatic purifier
quick learners seems a bit redundant if all your leaders start at lvl 3, and you can fairly easily make them start at the max level of 5 through research and discovery traditions

Yeah that's the More Events Mod chain. That's a pretty good one, but the mining drones are kinda tough when you're starting off.

When you get to the end you get a special looking ship with like 3k firepower and a sentient combat computer, but to get it you have to agree to change your ethics to spirtualist, pacifist, and materialist. Also your government form changes. Your other choice is a +5 happiness bonus.

There's also another really cool one that triggers a robot invasion, and one where if you search a tomb world you can find giant mobile fortresses from a species that never invented spaceflight.

You know how you can release a capital world as a vassal right? the art of AI jewery.jpg
3MB, 2560x5728px
I'm not sure how well known this is, but I have some tips for absolutely jewing the AI in civ 6.

War weariness peace deals:
You might notice peace deals are shittier in 6 than 5. This is because peace deals are effected by the target civ's war weariness. The more enemy cities you take and enemy units you, another civ, or the barbarians kill will lead to the civ being so desperate for peace, that they are willing to give you all their cities, gold, art, and resources to end the war. You can also sweeten the deals if they aren't ready to give up cities.

Loan jewery (not pictured):
This is in civ 5 as well, but they patched it so you can't ask for lump sums from non friends. It's back in 6! Simply ask a civ for a lump sum of gold, art, or cities in exchange for all your money, and strat lux resources and declare war on the fucker on the same turn! You will only lend him the resources for one turn and you keep his shit! Combine with joint war jewery for ultra mega jew action!

Joint wars:
I found this out recently. The AI really really likes it when you make joint wars with them, and joint wars are available very early on (foreign trade civic). Total strangers and unfriendly civs are willing to give you a city or two to joint war with their asshole neighbor. The benefits are many; you make the two civs hate each other forever, you get a high diplomatic bonus with the civ you joint war with, you can loan jew the civ you joint war on, and you set a civ up for a war weariness peace deal faster than you could alone. And if civ A doesn't want to joint war on civ B, chances are civ B will give you a city to joint war on civ A.

I wonder what was the reasoning behind shiping utopia with the research nexus locked at 90 / 90 / 90

Let's see assuming you find a broken nexus somewhat near your empire ( it happens most games ) now you want to fix it - but wait in order to fix it you need mega engineering - in order to unlock it you need the last tier of space stations and last tier of military stations alongside last tier of energy reactor.. they all are completed on average somewhere mid game...

So probably ~2300 - 2350 you will finnish researching mega engineering - now the project takes 10 years, fair enough - BUT it also costs 40k minerals.

Let's be serious would you waste 40k minerals for 90 research? by 2300 you already have research worlds and can make new ones at snap of fingers or you could just invest 40k minerals into your fleet and eliminate few empires making end-game just fighting crisis then game over..

I think dyson, nexus, gaia worlds are all just vanity projects and are there for role play purposes.

Hello friends

I haven't played Stellaris since Endless Space 2 came out, has there been a major update since then?
>>
>>187260237
There's a big update coming up next month so wait a little longer.

There's an update that adds more Sweden and a lot more diversity next Tuesday.

What I'm looking forward to is robot mods and "realm divide" style robot rebellions where you can pick to play as your original race or the new robot rebels.

That's just Jerry. He's new to consoles and getting used to it.

Diversity hire; notice the Yehat on the left is touch typing while the Yehat on the right is hunt and pecking.
>>
>>187270294
Obviously. The left one is low knobbed and the right one his high knobbed scum. High knob bastards never have as much cranial capacity.

Should I play endless space 1 before 2 ?
>>
>>187271674
ES1 was completely retconned out of existence.
>>
>>187271674
Only if you want to play zero expansion penalty teleporting super vaulters.
>>
>>187271674
Only to compare to ES2.

You are correct.
The sad thing is that the dev's response was not
>"OK we'll rebalance them to make them strategically viable",
but instead
"Lol Stellaris is an RPG not a strategy game NERD, so we don't need to balance anything properly"

At least he didn't call me a misogynist this time

I'm about to start a new game after a six month break.

Any suggestions for the species / empire.

Should I just go for the basic enslaving warmongering empire?

How useful/interesting are these things?
Is there anything which I've missed or which is still confusing?
Is there anything I've got horribly wrong and I'm misleading people like a gaint faggot?

Ask that in the new thread. Someone was interested in the pastebin, so he probably can tell you, if he's still around.
