As someone who's still on 11.2 as well, it's just because I literally don't care. I avoid those you listed to not get banned and don't even have an NNID set. Luma patches online play which is enough for the one time in two months I actually play something online.

Basically if you actually want to use those features, go ahead and update. Otherwise, especially if you wanna stay safe, there's no reason to.

-Section padding reduced to make the firm fit on smaller flashes (including 32k) for better potential flashcart support

Look at it this way, we all use the hardware we buy as a means of getting tons of games. I personally only hack console after I'm finished with it. I think I've hacked every single console I owned (except for the 360 since that shit was hard af).
PS2: bought the game 007 for 6 bucks at gamestop. Spent 15 on a pack of 100 blank DVDs. So 21 dollars for 100 games of my choosing.
Wii: literally only needed an SD card so I took a 2gb from an old phone. Free games for something I already owned. Burned games onto discs and years later used a spare HDD since the size of the games shrink.
Ps3: bought an e3 flasher for 60 bucks, have access to hundreds of games. Prior to that, I had spent nearly 6k on games and accessories over the 7 year period. Still hacked it to play some games I might have missed out on.
Wii u: spent 7 bucks and change on a ds game to make sure I have no issues later on (like a random system update). Have the whole wii u library available to me.
3ds: literally needed only an SD card.
PSP: nothing needed at all

Anyway, the price you pay to be able to homebrew these consoles are worth it. Most of the time you're spending less than a whole game to basically have access to hundreds. Seems like a dam good trade to me.
Sadly I barely play games anymore. Piracy is bad, you get all these games and then lose your motivation to play. I never had a moral problem pirating like a ton of people on /v/ since I always spent so much on games anyway. My family and friends enjoyed my piracy habits more than I did. I just liked finding out how people were able to achieve all these things. Truly talented people out there.

Wii u wasn't ever awkward for me at all. It reminded me of the psp with its temporary custom firmware. Think of haxchi as a temporary custom firmware.
I have mine set to boot up the fw.img on the SD card instead of the default homebrew channel. So when I click it, I get iosu (which is like the temporary cfw). If you have it set to open the homebrew channel, you need to use the fw.img app first. Whether it's to play games or install them, the fw.img needs to be opened first. That's all there is to it.

Haxchi in itself is just an offline exploit since the web browser way can always be patched. It did in the latest update but all it took was a month for people to find a new web browser exploit. It's unstable and only works 10 percent of the time but it's useful for simply installing haxchi.

Heres how Ninty dlc works, with a few exceptions it downloads all the dlc as a block, every single one for that title, buyfag or not. The difference being the ticket, it dictates what you can and cannot access.

a9lh is still pretty solid. It's only that Luma 8.0+ only supports b9s, so if you want to stay up to date, you gotta upgrade. You can update to 11.5 either way. b9s is just one step closer to being TRUE CFW, and Luma 8.0+ has some neat new features.

Bootrom got BTFO. Not only it has an exploit, but it also has a backdoor involving DS flashcards+a magnet that lets us install CFW to any 3DS. Old meme, A9LH already allowed loading true CFW since it triggered before firmware was loaded, but it's too much work and 3DS hardware is shit. Vita question, is there any way i can decrypt my P4G save on my computer and then install it using the Vita Save Manager?

You can try your luck with psvimgtools.
It's used for decrypting/encrypting CMA backups but perhaps you can use it for PS+. too (can you even download your save file from there from PC?). I don't konw, to be honest. But that ought to be your best bet, unless you want to install your legit copy again, download the save file from PS+, and then run savemgr to decrypt it AND then inject it into the decrypted copy.

11.2 O3DS with a9LH and Luma here.

I was able to play MH double cross online just fine yesterday, but today it's giving me an update message.
Before I could just update Luma to get past the required update, but I can't do that anymore since the switch to B9S can I? Or can I still do it?

At least that's how it use to be. Take N64 for example. Each ROM chip was custom made for Nintendo with a non standard pinout.

You could make a game with a standard over the counter ROM but then you need some circuity to help the system understand and interface with the chip.

The update should be easy, since you have access to it you have the titlekey, i would dump your keys and upload to the database which in turn would grant you the new update by virtue of deleting the old and simply downloading it again assuming the update is not already on there in which case reinstall it.
A flaw of programs like freeshop is they have no concept of revision numbers, it either has a dlc/update or it doesn't. tmd parsing might help i suppose as well as examining the versionlist if thats what tracks games with updates for the homemenu.
