you start with an ecologist senate; this means that you have access to all the juiciest colonization opportunities from the very start of the game. use this to your opportunity and settle as many good systems as you can, getting that prime real estate before anyone else has a chance to gobble it up
with that said, it may be tempting to use your probes to scout for more systems to colonize; this, however, is a trap. horatio benefits far more from exploring anomalies with his probes than sending them out to scout, as anomalies have a not-too-small chance of getting you a free minor faction pop.
while you may be tempted to go on a wild spree, splicing everything that you get your pristine little hands on, consider what other empires are in the game and how valuable the target is before you hit that button. while the +5% food consumption is minor enough to ignore most of the time, the fact that subsequent splices will require more population is something to consider. for this reason, it may very well be a wiser decision to hold off on getting another +3 food off of, say, your niris, when there's some very tasty vodyani parked just a few systems over. also, don't blow a gasket if you're afraid of getting excess population from the undesirables of the galaxy; you get a unique tech later on that enables you to convert non-horatio into horatio, perfect for tying up loose ends. always remember: though you want to splice everyone, order and priority matter!
your ships cost more to make than any other faction; a side effect of them being the most gorgeous ships. this truly only makes an impact in the early game and in protracted wars of attrition; because of this, you'll want to make fleets earlier than you normally would, and make a habit of maintaining a standing force so that you won't have to make many replacements on the fly.
the only last little tip i have is to consult my horatio gene splice guide; it has almost every splice bonus listed.

Gotta admit, kind of bummed you can't customize the special SSD. Thing's stuck with Hyperspace when I already got the jump drive from the Unbidden. Everyone give the Awakened Empires a huge round of applause for bringing those assholes here.

Also, how long do I have until this "Coming Storm" hits once I get the notification? I don't think I've got the firepower to handle two Unbidden factions (who both border me) along with another crisis.

Leviathans and Utopia had dev diaries dedicated to the music (well, Leviathans was new sounds in general) so this ain't anything new. Stellaris's soundtrack is definitely one of its strongest points so it makes for them to dedicate a dev diary for it.

The most recent DLC for CK2 was confirmed to be China, which had one of the most vocal anti-factions of the community. So to keep from upsetting the anti-Chinafags, they half assed it (China's an off map entity that can invade you whenever but you can't invade back), pissing off the Chinafags and doing nothing to placate the anti-Chinafags because they wanted absolutely zero China in the game (there's some flavor events involving China as is and it's a major sore spot).

The entire community melted down and in about a day, the dev diary of the announcement was 30 pages (the average page count for a CK2 DD is 5) filled with nothing but people bitching at Paradox and each other.

>>186572197

It's advisable to build fortresses in the capital system, yeah. FE/AEs have a tendency to bullrush the empire's capital and ignore everything else.
>>
So I'm new to endgame crisis in Stellaris and since waging wars with my inferior neighbours got boring I thought it's about time one occurs.
When do they start? I know some have requirements, like the Unbidden only shows up / is more likely to show up when you got the jump drive.
Also, is there a diplomatic option to form temporary alliances against e.g. the Prethoryn Swarm with enemies?
>>
>>186575387
Unbidden can show up after somebody gets jump drives. The AI loves going after that, so these guys are the most common crisis.
AI uprising only shows up if there are lots of synthetics and they don't have civil rights. There is even a special event to make it impossible to start in your empire. It can occur in other empires which infect your happy synths though, so there is no way to be safe.
The Prethoryn just have a timer that gets set at the start of the game. I don't think they can show up before 2300 and there is a chance that they won't show up at all.
Desperate alliances aren't really a thing and your rival will happily fight you while they get eaten by the swarm. Sometimes a FE will awaken and act as the guardian of the galaxy, but I wouldn't bet on it. It's like a 50% chance at best and only the xenophile and materialist FEs can even do it.
>>
>>186575793
I'm fairly certain that any FE can Awaken now.
>>
>Note: Since version 1.6, defense stations have to be spaced further apart than the longest weapon range, which makes it impossible to build Deathflowers in the current version (as of 1.6.1).

China was never involved in any major interactions with the Middle East or Europe which India and East Africa did in the form of Muslim punching bags. China wouldn't add anything useful to the game and would be even more isolated and irrelevant than India was in game.

On top of that non-European political systems are already poorly modeled as is, China would just add to that

Additionally the game already ran like shit before

I'll try.
>real time strategy
>you don't buy leaders, you get them by random events
>they make experience depending how you use them (a counter-spy won't level up in infiltration, for example)
>you don't use energy, you use credits
>and you don't spend 120 credits on a corvettes, it's more like 120 000 credits
>you have a shitload of ressources, including fuel
>the galaxy is HUGE, and divided in sectors
>you can pretty much automate everything, kinda like in Left 4 Dead where you can give command to a bot while you take a shit
And the strong part of the game :
>your civilians react to the economic situation : if you lack aluminium, they'll buy mining ships from your port (giving you ¤), and mine alluminium to sell it to you
>you can build resort stations to try to make money in good looking places, like near blackhole or by near
>the civilian sector has its own economy, and the more you tax them, the less it'll grow
>>
>>186581819
Oh, and also :
>it's pretty old, which means no FPS issues
>all expansions are already out, no shitty cosmetic DLC
>you can control every ship, so you can have a long-ranged missile ship stay away from the brawl
>you can warp whenever you fucking want (I would suggest warping on an enemy fortress, I lost many ships that way)
>you can board enemy ships and sell or research them
And finally :
>one of the expansions let you play as a pirate empire
>which means a totally different gameplay, since pirates don't have a civil economy to tax (unless you take over a planet), and instead get money by killing/destroying/raiding/boarding
>in other words, playing as a pirate encourages you to be a pest
>and since pirates have their own victory conditions, you can theorically ally with a normal empire
>>

Stellaris:

Also note that the AI cheats with vision, so it doesn't even need to really see the fleet you want it to chase. Put an obsolete army unit by itself and watch as 100k of enemy navy treks across the galaxy to kill it.
>>
>>186626781
Do you play against others players or against the AI? The AI is a little bit forgiving, players can be insane.
The first Starcraft 2 game I ever played had the enemy charge me with a bioball (Marines, Marauders, and Medics) before I even built a hydralisk den.

And as you say, AoE2 is worse.
>>
>>186623726
Stellaris is not an intellectually challenging game. It's not difficult or entertaining. But it's addictive, since Paradox has perfected the grand strategy treadmill. There's always more to do, and the game usually explicitly tells you what to do, so you never have to worry about doing the wrong thing.

Playing Stellaris is routine, even on your first run. Since it's routine, you won't get mentally exhausted from it, and you can play indefinitely. And when you're done with a single empire, you can mix and match the ethics, traits, etc, to play an entirely different game (that happens to play exactly the same).

yes.

they've been useless forever desu.

Early versions of the game I modded them to cost like 80% less to build & maintain but they'd still be so weak they couldn't hold against a fleet or even slow them down.

It's a far cry from watching Deep Space 9 beat the shit out of the Klingons.

keep countering them

if you start near horatio, cravers, or fishtits, never let your guard down; they will always look for a vulnerability to get a war of opportunity or, in the cravers' case, they'll just declare war whenever they have enough ships to fight
the rest are fairly trustworthy; provide them with gifts, and they shall prove to be amicable and helpful. just remember not to double cross them, or they'll have it out for you.

A lot of it depends. Civ, starting conditions, map, etc.

Almost always, though, 2-3 scouts, then some slingers, then a monument. Sub in a worker when you're at or nearing 3 population and have the relevant techs, and a granary if you're hurting on food/housing.
Scout with scouts and only scouts. Once you get a couple out, bring your warrior home to fight barbs. You really want scouts to be the ones finding shit and getting exp for it. Slingers and warriors can fill in little holes in your map close to home, but mostly they should fighting barbs. Eureka your way into the techs for iron and archers and you should be in good shape for awhile.
Don't really worry about settlers until the policy from early empire unless you need to beat someone to a good spot. Once you do have it though, settle as much as you think you can handle. Should have iron revealed at this point.
Be nice to any civs you encounter. Show them your city, send a delegation, trade right away if possible. Diplomacy snowballs hard in this game, and if you've got a lot of mildly unfriendly or even neutral neighbors then expect joint war after joint war. Don't let that happen.
If going for a religion, immediately go astrology and get a holy site above all else. The AI is wet for religion no matter who they are, you gotta start immediately.

Both are kind of in a wonky state. ES2 was literally unplayable at release and had plenty of other bugs as well, even outright missing content though they've been patching stuff up quite frequently and are adding the missing promised content for free by the end of summer.

Stellaris is a rather simple game that tries to do many superfluous things at once without really excelling at anything. If you've played any other 4X then Stellaris is lackluster and simple, if you've played previous Paradox grand strategy it's lackluster in both gameplay mechanics and roleplaying aspects (unless your definition of roleplaying is restricted to playing pretend in your head), if you're looking for space real-time strategy there's also better candidates. The game in general tries to fill the needs of both roleplayers and "muh multiplayer balance so everything fun and unique is nerfed to the point of being useless" and feels a lot like prettied up but less complex Distant Worlds, both in good (trimmed up some needlessly complex stuff) and bad (also lacks unique fun gameplay stuff) ways. The DLC have improved Stellaris, but not to the point that it's currently a wildly better game than it was at release.

I'd personally suggest holding out on both until ES2 finally gets to stable, much better balanced and actually the full promised gameâ„¢ edition and Stellaris getsmore expansions + preferably a sale so it doesn't feel so god damn vanilla. Both are fun for a time though, but if you're looking for more 4X I'd suggest ES2.
>>
>>186693009
yes and yes. if you play on lower difficulties you might not need to play it this way though, the higher the difficulty the harder it is to survive.

If you really want to play as a species specific for megastructures:
Intelligent, Strong - Sedentary, Slow Learners/Repugnant

Potential Govt types:
Hivemind with Neural Network & One Mind Civics
Democratic Egliatarian Materialist with Technocracy & Beacon Of Liberty Civics
Pacifist Xenophobe Materialist with Agrarian Idyll & Inwards Perfection Civic

Use the expansion tree first, then prosperity or supremacy as the 2nd & 3rd then whatever.

To get voidborne you need to get through the 3 defense station techs & the 4 ship techs up to Battleships. When you have that, you pick Voidborne. This gives you Habitats.

You need to get 3 ascension perks before you can pick Circle of Life.

The first perk trait you should probably pick One Vision for +10% Unity output, or Tech Ascendancy for +10% Research Speed

One Vision/Tech Ascend -> Voidborne -> Master Builders -> Circle Of Life -> Galactic Wonders

in terms of gameplay, i'd say necrophages are scarier; proliferators cause explosive army growth to the point where any necrophage victory is a nail in the coffin for whoever you're fighting. on top of this, their affinity makes it so that they aee the one faction that not only is not phased by drawn-out conflicts, but actually thrives and grows in wars of attrition. with this said, however, the cravers do have the constant threat of ruining systems wherever they go.

in terms of lore, however, the cravers easily take the cake. the necrophages are just insects that turned into monsters over thousands of years of genetic mutation and a few lab experiments; the cravers, on the other hand, are a cyborg species specifically designed to overwhelm concrete worlds, eat and enslave anyone inside, strip it barren to its core and use the resources to mount another invasion. it's like comparing a flintlock to a machine gun.

for reference

while you do get a lot of the factions' stories from the actual games, a surprising number of tiny tidbits are hidden in little developer logs and forum posts

as far as drakken, allayi, guardians and necrophages (the natural species of auriga) go
>allayi and guardians were the first sapient creatures on auriga, and were the mother planet's caretakers
>endless arrive, intent on using the planet as a research installation. they experience a great deal of resistance from the allayi and guardians.
>they capture a powerful and legendary allayi warrior and use his genetic template to make the scythers, the anti-guardian unit from the guardians expansion, to hunt down and destroy the guardians
>the drakken, which are native beasts, are uplifted and genetically manipulated by the endless, and are given the task of beating back the allayi and protecting the endless' interests from their meddling. they are extremely effective, and the allayi scatter and go into hiding.
>once the dust wars descend upon auriga and the planet becomes barren, the drakken go into hibernation to await a time when the planet will become lush again. meanwhile, the necrophages emerge, mutating and evolving from experiments and the radioactive wastes.

they are one hundred percent an endless experiment; they don't go into the specifics of whether they were some basic lifeform already present that was modified, or whether they were straight up test-tube creatures, but the endless are what made them what they are.
the narrator in the intro isn't an endless, but rather one of the younger races; my best guess would be a vaulter, due to their prominence in the endless story, but there's no way to know for sure.

>>186703042
the allayi quest states that there have been previous lush periods in the cataclysms, but the one that you play in is most assuredly the last, and auriga is on her last gasps.

as far as the shard of the lost for guardians and the eyeless ones quest, i don't have it, though we already know auriga is one hundred percent a lost
the fact that they said on G2G that auriga will most likely be getting its own questline only solidifies this

How much longer do I have to wait?

>but the one that you play in is most assuredly the last, and auriga is on her last gasps.
The quest does mention that they *hope* that the next Long Sleep will also restore like previous cycles. Could also be that if we do get Auriga related quest in ES2, one of the options might be terraforming the planet to certain type.

Most Virtuals are properly dead and most of the Dust is basically Endless free. Vodyani heroes though all have a Virtual Endless sharing a suit with them, that's the reason they have "St" in their name. There's also a handful of Virtual Endless in ES2 but they're described to be much less powerful than in their prime: one is trapped in a neutron star and the guy is completely made out Dust, one's mind is trapped inside an industrial exo-skeleton and his buddies are on some Dust hard drive in a Craver factory.

Besides, the Endless didn't create Dust, but genocided some god-like beings and extracted it from their bodies / imitated it so if the Dust does have will of its own it's the Lost and not the Endless you're emulating.

SimCity 4 is more about starting from 0 and working towards mega cities trough normal gameplay and many routes.. and that's what rewards you the most in that game.

While skylines is a superior city builder but has very bad gameplay it's just best with infinite money on and everything unlocked.

Basically I'm 100% convinced paradox is bad at balancing.
>>
>>186698696
Not that easy, you need 4th energy reactor technology, latest space station and latest space station for mega engineering + that's also rare unless you already have the perk for faster mega constructions build speed or/and a scientist with specific perks.
>>

Hm I just never used a single mod for sim-city 4 but I've explored every single bit of content the game had to throw at me, I've got every singel bit of dlc, promotional dlc, hidden shit and so on..

I really enjoyed that game why lie and I didn't play it a lot so to speak in the amount of hours. It felt really balanced trough what vanilla offered.

I like building all right and prove my imagination and talent - but I hate that compared to how much I love the arcade playstyle.. the reward for good fast work and so on, cities skylines gives you no challenge or sanctification at least in that sense, tho the amount of mods and the core engine is great.

If I were to make one change to the strategy you recommended in the last thread which rocks, by the way; my empire is unstoppable it would be to emphasize genetic engineering over turning your species into cyborgs. I agree that the cyborg option is probably the most efficient expenditure of points, but I've learned to prefer conquering a species and altering them so that they have identical traits to my core species. That way, each and every planet functions more or less in an identical way, and you don't have a race of nerds working the mines -- every planet contributes equally to the war machine.

With 1.8 allowing us to rename altered species, you can even rename your conquests to have the same name as your core species -- you're turning them into YOU. There is no greater conquest.
>>
>>186722610
Its been years since I've played SC4 so I sadly don't remember them off the top of my head. Half of the fun was exploring the mod collections on places like Simtropolis to find what you wanted. Other than the NAM I just can't remember

I had an embarrassingly high post count on their forums too
>>
>>186720996
Then you'd be a fool. A coastal city gets 3 housing. That's nothing, even with a granary. Aqueducts are absolutely essential in this case if you want the city to be at even a semi-decent size.
>>
>>186723807
By the time you get it up to 5 or 6 pop where you're going to start running out of housing you'll have other district buildings and tile improvements increasing the size. The aqueduct is fairly expensive to build, renders a tile permanently useless and only gives 3 housing to a coastal city, even less to your capital.

yeah, cravers benefit the most from the higher-difficulty AI resource bonuses because they already have percentage modifiers in the form of slave outputs and cravers' pre-depletion pop bonus, meaning that they actually get more cheat resources than anyone else
this, when combined with their highly expansionist and aggressive behavior, means they have five colonies and a fleet ready to bomb their neighbors into the dust when you're just starting your third outpost

Guys found this out and felt like sharing, it saved me from installing some mods.

First of all if you want to auto explore from the start use

effect give_technology = tech_automated_exploration

or

effect give_technology = { tech = tech_automated_exploration }

Secondly if you want to terraform a barren world like you can with mars but it lacks the candidate modifier:

add_anomaly terraforming_candidate_category

There are actually so many things you can just do with console commands rather than using mods, I've just started to scratch the surface will come with more tips as I discover them I invite you guys to try to and maybe we can make a pastebin page for all the stuff.

No.
First step of any path locks you out of the others entirely.

If a pop gains one it loses the other.

Don't do it. You're right, it's just repetetive and boring.
But to answer your question, the secret to rapid map painting is to realise that if you kill off the specific empire you declared war on, no 10-year peace treaty gets applied to his allies.
So always liberate 1 planet, let the enemy defence treaty it, then DoW it next time.
>>
>>186757972
Alternatively edit 10 year peace treaty when you reach mid - late game to 5 - 3 years to stay in a balanced tune but not artificial tune to prolong an already long game.

Stellaris game folder \common\defines

PEACE_LENGTH_OF_WAR_MONTHS = 120

change 120 to
36 # modified
or
60 # modified

I like to comment modified tag to know what I changed in case I want to revert back to vanilla I usually also put the vanilla value inside the comment.

Other edits I made - extermination from 10 years to 2 months.. why ? Because I could've just asked for planet cleanse as a war goal instead I ask for cede and wait 2 months for my fanatic purifiers to get all the unity bonus without having a huge surge in resources for 5 years...

but now, i had to uninstall geforce experience to get the game not to crash on launch and whenever i interact with a civ, it just fails to load the animation and im stuck at a limbo of looking at the regular map, but since the game thinks im still at the animation, it prevents me from actually taking control of my units
i know civ 6 is a meme at this point, but i just really want a casual thing to do while i work on other stuff

Yeah, it seemed cool when I was designing a race, but actually playing the game is a different story. You just press the buttons and colonize the good planets until there's no more space to do so, then you send your giant blob at the nearest opposing empire (which is indistinguishable from your own, even with entirely different government types). Rinse and repeat until you win.
I want something with more meat on its bones. I haven't played a 4x game in years, so I'm not really sure what's good anymore.
Games I'm looking at currently:
>Endless Legend
>Endless Space 2
>Galactic Civilizations 3
>Master of Orion (the new one)
>Age of Wonders 3
>Stellar Monarch
>Eador Imperium
Any thoughts or experiences with any of these games are massively appreciated.
>>
>>186767889
as i understand, their whole gimmick is ranged combat and since the ai seems to not have much of them then sure
>>
>>186767972
On the polar opposite of that would be Star Ruler 2, where a different set of nostrils will make your empire fleet-based and make you disliked in the galactic senate.
>>
>>186767972
Endless Legend is one of the best 4x games in recent history. It's fantastic.
ES2 needs a lot of work, but it's decent. Has lots of personality.
GalCiv3 has the opposite problem. Solid 4x, but holy fucking shit is it BLAND.
The new MoO is rather shallow. It has waifus though which is a rare bonus in these types of games.
AoW3 has fun tactical combat if you don't get bogged down by that sort of thing.
I don't know anything about Stellar Monarch
Eador a shit

Those are some low graphics settings. If you're playing on a 10-year-old potato, it's possible you just don't have the graphics to handle Civ 6.

I've been struggling with crashes myself, but they're little more than an annoyance because of autosave.

I finally made the game stable with 180 mods. I've been itching to play since the A.I. announcement but since its obvious we are still months away I just gave in and played.

Playing energy beings that believe that all life should be protected. By force. They will protect the weak and attack any aggressor that declares a war of expansion on anyone even if they are vastly more powerful. Starting out pre-FTL so starting off will be a bit slow so there probably wont be any updates for some time. Wish me luck friends. I'm playing with 80 empires and 40ish of them are custom and as tuned as this one with quite a few devouring swarms and fanatical purifiers so It should be a blast

It's basically a base/dungeon builder that allows you to build complex traps and base layouts.

Units are not directly controlled (except for henchmen and the evil geniuses themselves) but given orders though tags applied to enemy units and the use of security cameras and loudspeakers.

You can send your units on missions to steal money or artifacts, and various different missions that allow you to train new types of units, racruit new henchmen, or further advance the technology of your evil base.

This is all set on a 1960s–70s era Cold War era with many references to spy movies of the time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwT7QOpPzmY
>>
>>186778776
Evil Genius was a game about playing as an 80s spy movie villain, building a mountain lair, recruiting minions and henchmen and working towards conquering the world.

It's a rough, wonky and sometimes buggy experience but I'll be damned if I didn't love that game.

Nope. You start on an island with a big mountain and later on move to a bigger island with a bigger mountain.
>>
>>186779775
You mean Mastermind, right? Liked it too.

The game is pretty linear storywise. You get three Evil Geniuses to choose from at the beginning of the game. Both of your evil lairs thoughout the game will be underground and situated on inhabitated islands(one a desert island and the second a ropical one with an inactive volcano). At the end of the game, you will be able to choose between three different Doomsday Devices.

It is quite fun, even if there wasn't much on the variety to choose from.

Not him and that guy is a faggot with shit taste or just baiting which I'm assuming he is since he hasn't actually brought up any points in favor of it, but I don't really actually like Cities: Skylines that much either. Both it and nu-Simcity are actually quite simple to play, CS is better but it's sorely lacking in any real challenge as well.

So if you're coming from Tropico 4, or worse, any more advanced management / city builder game and are expecting similar stuff from CS you're going to be disappointed unless you're just looking forward to making stylish looking dream cities rather than solving management and logistics issues. CS does have pretty fleshed out traffic control, but neglecting it doesn't (or at least didn't when I last played) have nearly as much of a negative impact as it should and it's easy to drown in cash nonetheless.
>>
>>186786692
there was a bug/incomplete feature at launch that meant SC was way too easy. commercial zones didn't need goods from factories to operate and factories could just export everything at full profit. both of those were fixed so now it's actually quite a bit more challenging.

I hope you're not talking about SC4 when you say "more indepth". it's simply false.

Both leader abilities are top-tier, Gorgo's more-so. Culture snowballs fast.
Free wildcard slot is fucking incredible early on and unlocks soooo many strategies, and still really damn strong latter on. Practically guarantees you a religion if you want it too.
Hoplites are a good demonstration of why vanilla spears are so bad. As in if spears were any better, they'd be like hoplites and broken as fuck. Stupidly strong, stupidly early, you basically start with 2 capitals with these guys.
The acropolis provides just plain unreasonable amounts of culture and is super easy to build around. The hill requirement is not a problem at all, just play on new if you really can't stand the limitation. Also envoys, millions of them.
Four really god damn good bonuses, all available really early and mostly relevant forever. Kill barbs with hoplites, then kill civs with hoplites, take lots of land, fill that land with acropoli and cities to benifit from your policy slot and get more and more CS allies and just keep going.

What is the best Civ 6 civ and why is it greece?

Too jaded for hype. Hoping that it will be more in line with AoE2 than 3 or AoM (been replaying that one lately and not enjoying it a whole lot) but that doesn't sound like Relic's style. Doesn't help that Dawn of War 3 is still a fresh memory.

Plus the games that actually defined e-sports to begin with were never designed with in mind, they were just really well put together games that happened to have a lot of hidden depth to them.

Funny considering modern games that get shat out to milk e-sports dollars have that kind of depth artificially limited so as to make it feel anyone can be competitive.

They gave DoW3 To the Shitty Montreal Devs, while the main team focused only on Homeworld Cataclysm/Emergency Remastered and now AoE4

>>
>>186811143

in fact, there's 1 relic but its divided between Montreal and Vancouver, Vancouver was focused on Restoring Homeworld Cataclysm SRC to give it to gearbox, and update it, while Montreal took charge of DoW3.

In the end, mainly because of the lack of communication between both sides, Montreal Team screwed up with the game to the point that they even scorned the original voice actors and went full hipster with the "40k is brit so lets make it all brit" only Brian Dobson was hired to do DoW3 voices, Paul Dobson, Keith, Scott McNeil, nor even Brian Drummond were called, Sega tried to push on the game, but it failed.

Haven't tried myself, but can't you do machine ascension as Authoritarian and then caste system your main species synthetic pops? Slavery bonuses such as techs and edicts all stack with regular bonuses for massive output, though on the other hand Biological ascension probably gets better mineral focused traits (Very Strong + Industrious + Nerve Stapled is +15% higher than Synth pop trait on its own), and Proles is great a great additional but not a guaranteed trait on all pops, plus with Synths if you caste system them you aren't getting the same massive minuses to Unity / Energy / Research as with Nerve Stapled pops. Plus like the other anon said you can ignore wasting pops on food tiles from then on.

'Wasting' a tile on food for a biopop is exactly the same as 'wasting' a tile for energy to feed to your robots.

Except not really because sector food goes into the granary at 100% efficiency, which is relevant because sector AI will upgrade its farms, thus making food a non-issue by midgame.

Well my nation is aware of the xeno threat, the rational option is to always be military equipped above my neighbors to avoid unnecessary wars.

But fuck that I've decided to go on a high energy focused empire ( will trade for minerals or use basic robots / droids forever ) and go with genetic ascension.

Can't decide for traits tho everything can work with this - fan materialist / egalitarian
fan pacifist ( tho why would a mega corporation control a star empire would avoid war.. "The time to buy is when there's blood in the streets." - Rotschild )

I really need some help here.
>>
>>186824140
Militarists like going to war. They find an excuse to do so, and use up ships in the process. Pacifists build fleets in order to keep them, and only go into war when it's necessary. Pacifists also like prosperity traditions, which give you more energy.

Materialist*2 + egalitarian is a very fun combo. You can raise up living standards, make robots for mining and farming, and stay ahead technologically without special effort.

A megacorporation would not seek out war. Warzones are bad for business. Obviously when there's a hostile power that is easy to defeat you can make them a tributary, but in general you don't want to risk your money-producing items, and you don't want to rebuild ships that get lost in war.

wew yeah seems you're really blocked in. Diplomacy tree is shit but rush it if you want. I'd suggest making yourself better and that's prosperity supremacy and expansion, those 3 openers are pretty great.
>>
>>186828369
Prosperity first. Diplomacy tradition (emphasis on federation) second. At the very beginning you simply don't know enough people to choose good partners, and habitability stuff doesn't help you either.

You may actually want to get diplomacy third, depending on the situation. If no alliances are really coalescing yet (maybe you had good unity growth) then you can delay, and if a good friend sets up a federation you like then there's no reason not to join theirs. In that case, you could easily get expansion or discovery and leave diplomacy for later when you actually want its other benefits.

In any case, prosperity first, since it's hard to justify anything else. I like expansion (and this is consistent with a ruthless capitalist archetype, as collecting long-term resources is vital to the company), but note that it will screw your unity growth since you can't afford the monuments.

If the systems don't have by default some research planets / w/e around them or at least in the area the colonization covered - you're going to go on the negative early to mid, that's your main focus cover as many research stations / objectives as possible otherwise go for 18 - 20 + tiles planet hopefully have good research tiles on their own.

the vines have a bunch of effects; they drastically increase the food production and approval of any vined system (for both the unfallen and any allied vined systems), they allow systems to be instantly colonized by the unfallen, they absorb the bonus of any unique systems (i.e. black holes, asteroid belts) and rerout the FIDSI bonus back to the capitol, they dramatically increase the movement speed of the unfallen and any of their allies, and dramatically slow the fleets of any enemies

they also serve as the unfallen's sphere of influence, meaning that any vined system the unfallen don't own is subject to pacific conversion; furthermore, the unfallen are completely immune to any attempts at pacific conversion by their rivals.

>>
>>186841006
yeah, the unfallen are supremely durable. they expand incredibly slowly, and are forced to do so in a radial, creeping manner, but once they claim a system there's nothing that can remove them short of devastatingly overwhelming firepower. capitol sniping them to cut off the head of the snake doesn't even work either, because koyasil gets an extra 1000 base manpower cap, which when combined with absurd food production and easily supplied naval reinforcements from their colonies, basically means you need planet crackers to uproot their home system if you're going for a snipe

the best way to handle them is to either stop them from spreading in the first place, or to bite the bullet and accept the vines as they spread through your empire
