The Orb is an Elven artifact that belonged to Solas, it is called "the Fen'Harel's Orb". Solas wanted to use it to tear the Veil completely so that he could restore the ancient world of his people, Elvhenan and the Ancient Elves. But the Orb needed immense power to unlock, and Solas, after waking from his Uthenera, was weak to unlock it by himself alone. So he sought for someone that could unlock it for him and he found the right candidate: Corypheus.

Solas' original plan was that Corypheus would unlock the Orb for him and die in the resulting explosion. He will then use the unlocked Orb to tear the Veil asunder.

Trying a Nightmare run as a solo Warrior. What's the most fun build? Can I go two-handed or am I going to get shat on later in the game?

Yeah anon I've started having them since 2013. They're immensely shit. I've tried a couple of meds, sumatriptans didn't really work, Indometacin helps a LOT - takes it from a two week-long agonyfest to about three days of being bedridden and a week of lessening headaches that I can mostly handle. If they're alone then moving around can help, if you get them simultaneously with migraines (as I do) then you can't really do that because moving around makes you barf, so I just hide in the dark.

Cold compresses and the strongest painkillers you can get are about all I can recommend beyond that :( If you can stand to have the TV on watch stuff that doesn't require much attention, I've gone through a lot of The Simpsons/Bob's Burgers/Rick and Morty that way.

I don't think any class would be fun on Nightmare solo. You will need to kite forever as an archer or a Mage. Dual-daggers rogues are too squishy but they could work with proper use of the stealth mechanic.

One-Handed tank warrior will also work but the fights will take forever. A Two-Handed warrior with points in the Vanguard skill tree and the Combat Roll talent might be viable.

It's been the opposite for me. I tried it on Archer and got sick and tired of ENDLESS kiting and abusing aggro ranges. Somehow just sitting in the middle of 40 enemies and spamming Payback Strike is a lot faster.

Inquisition was a vast improvement over Dragon Age 2 so it is not true that there games are going downhill. The quality of Trespasser dlc was better than Inquisition in turn.

I am quite confident Dragon Age 4 will be good. The setting of Tevinter will allow Bioware to bring back some of the grimdark elements from Origins, which Inquisition was seriously lacking. The fanbase liking and praising the linear world of Trespasser dlc over the quasi-open-world of Inquisition/Jaws of Hakkon will also help them improve the game. The only thing I am worried about is the new companions..with Gaider gone...

I think the big majority of his power was locked inside the Orb, that's why he needed it unlocked and couldn't simply wait for his powers to return. That would also explain why he is so sad when he sees the broken Orb: he has to find another source of great power and the only one who can give him that is Mythal. At the end of Trespasser, he manages to get back the Anchor, so a small part of his original power is back into him and he will probably use that combination to tear the Veil.

You can complete the main quests in any order you like, there are no significant consequences. I like to do in this order:

Redcliffe quest (easy difficulty) > Circle Mage (medium diff.) > Brecelian Forest (easy diff.) > Ashes (hard diff.) > Orzammar (hard diff.)

Complete the Circle quest first to unlock Wynne (best party healer) early and to get the additional skill points in the Fade.

Hi all - long-time lurker, first-time poster.
I'm knee-deep into my thirties now, and have been a BioWare fan since the first Baldur's Gate. I've played every game lovingly and with frankly unhealthy levels of completionistic obsessiveness. Every chest, every codex entry acquired and studied thoroughly, every achievement. Innumerable playthroughs with different classes, races, etc.
Origins was an absolute triumph, and will forever remain one of my favourites of all-time for its emotional depth and immersive story-telling. DAII was a massive let-down and playing it felt like a chore that I pushed through largely out of my love for Origins and because of my interest in the world as a whole. I approached Inquisition with some trepidation, but tried to keep an open-mind, again because I felt BioWare had earned my trust over the years, from BG all the way up. I've now given the game an honest try - a few hundred hours - and the thought of playing it fills me with such a feeling of emptiness. As empty as the game itself, which seemed to compensate for a lack of genuine depth with a painful amount of superficial and grindy "content", but no true role-playing. Even in the main quests. The game simply shoehorns you in these rigid, two-dimensional types, leaving nothing to the imagination. DAI's superficiality has beaten the completionism out of me to such an extent that I no longer even want to complete the series that I once adored. I feel disconnected from the game's world in a way I've never experienced. I can't even try to believe in it any more.
I'm saying goodbye to BioWare. With this and what happened to Mass Effect, I'm just...I'm out. I have a complete collection of the DA comics (except the Magekiller series), both lore books, the DAI art book and every novel and I'm selling them all for a song and a dance.
