Why aren't there any good looking tank sims?
Mig-19 when ?
>>184820436
2018 sometime I guess
But it's a Razbam module so it'll be a bit longer till its good
I could have sworn there was a bridge near this thing
>>184820380
Sims are a niche
Tank sims are a niche of a niche
>>184820957
Is this a joke? The bridge is newer than the game
>>184820380
there's what, 2 modernish tank sims out there?
>>184820380

Why did Britain stop making its own military aircraft?
>>184823380
paid off by (((them)))
>>184819623
oh but I'd rather have the apache than any of those
>>184823380
Long story but basically our politicians believed the capitalism meme. As if any military aircraft industry works without state support...duh.
In truth we still make our own military aircraft just in different collaborations and parts of supply lines and via licenses (e.g., AH Mk1 = AH-64 with Rolls Royce engines instead of GE).
Also there is the whole BAE Systems thing to consider.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BAE_Systems
Defence industry is a big employer still, put it that way.
>>184825545
Alas
>>184825212
Yeah I don't mean you don't build anything anymore, but there aren't any Hawkers or Glosters or Supermarines or De Havillands designing indigenous British aircraft anymore like America has Lockeed, Northrop, etc and Russia has Sukhoi, MiG, etc. And that sucks because Britain used to be pretty good and relevant in this field, but it seems like they couldn't keep up with the US and Russia after WW2
>>184826180
Because Supermarine and many other aircraft manufacturers formed BAC because of the government, which went on to make mostly everything from 1950 to 1990, then giving all the stuff to BAE being a merger of Marconi Electronic and General Electric.
why build new planes when you already have the best
>>184827621
because those ultra thick wings can't go mach 2
When navigating with FSX, are there any situations (besides equipment failure) when I should use GPS over VOR? or ADF?
Also what situations would Autopilot be justified? I just flew a long-ass flight in a 172 with just autopilot and I felt like I missed out.
thinking about buying f-5, could someone adopt me?
>>184830883
Navigate however you want. The general practice is to use that which can provide the most accurate information for any segment of the flight.
Autopilot use is at your discretion. The only real concerns are complying with any limitations imposed by the equipment or aircraft. Or, special situations which require autopilot engagement (eg.. flight in RVSM).
>>184830883
>are there any situations (besides equipment failure) when I should use GPS over VOR? or ADF?
I usually use it when flying in remote places so I can take a more direct route. I prefer to use traditional navaids though, because it's more fun.
>Also what situations would Autopilot be justified?
When you can't be arsed to control the airplane, like in cruise.
I just fly GA though, I'm sure you'd use autopilot a lot more with tubeliners.
>>184820380
Steel Armor: Blaze of War looks pretty good.
>>184831935
>>184831842
Yeah most of my flying lately has been in Yukon/Alaska area (I'm seeing if I can fly towards NWT and Nunavut) where navigation aids are more sporadic. I'd like to learn dead reckoning and older styles of navigation as well.
>>184834135
In that situation, your best bet is probably pilotage (navigating by land/cultural features) and ded reckoning when over open wilderness. Use VOR/ADF when in range, or GPS all the time if you want.
That depends if you're pretending to fly in a time period before GPS exists. Or, if you aircraft is not equipped with a GPS receiver.
Ops when?
>>184826180
>but it seems like they couldn't keep up with the US and Russia after WW2
Britain was bankrupted by WW2. We were still on rationing until 1951.
while I think of it, outside of FSX how prevalent is morse in other sims?
>>184839168
Other flight sims feature it as well obviously.
>>184838385
Makes sense
It's kinda sad, Britain produced some of my favorite aircraft back in the day. Would have been cool to see Britain's 100% indigenous counterparts to American and Russian 3rd, 4th and 5th gen jets
any canucks in here?
hmm..

How do you use Laser guided bombs if you have a JTAC marking it in DCS?
Do you just drop them at the general location of where they're marking?

Where can IacquireSABOW? The only place I found was rutracker but it's in Russian and I can't see how to change the language.

If razbam doesn't add this with the MiG-19, i'm boycotting.

those guns freeing gave me a feeling i dont understand tho

Okay, I love the eurofighter
But I want that livery on the Tiger ii so bad.
>>184880435
They should also add a module where you get locked out of your account and sent to a gulag because you accidentally tuned into an American Forces broadcast and listened to western radio for more than 30 seconds.

DUDUDUDUDUDUDUDUDU
So how many people are there at /simg/ keeping this thing from dying? 30-40? Lets pack it up guys

Its literally like 10 people at most. Don't trust the posters thing at the bottom of the page.

Wasn't this basically how the Me-163 operated?
>>184886491
The Me-163 used the airfield's runway and could only be GCI'ed into its targets rather than the MiG-19 using both GCI and it's own radar, but at least the MiG-19 has landing gear.
>>184882041
I'm here, but it's 2AM for me
I should be in fucking bed, man
The MiG-19 doesn't have an RWR, right?

Couldn't they get together, design a spec, and make EU economy produce the parts.
>inb4 but they have that 1 different feature
Make A, B, C variants.
A: lightweight and cheap like grippen but less equipment
B: high performance fighter like eurofigher
C: naval version
I wonder what specifically they were autistic about to diverge other than "hurr you make no hook".
>>184867515
Maybe you'd have to input the correct code thingy.

>>184867515
Everything is covered in the 9 line.
Remember the coordinates, laser code and final attack heading given to you in the 9 line brief.
Input the target coordinates into your CDU, calculate your heading to the target using the TAD and switch the bombs and TGP to the JTAC laser code and that's about it.
Unless you are thinking about the JTAC script used in Blue Flag which is similar.

No because after 90 seconds of hovering engines will start overheating.
>>184903981
>No because after 90 seconds of hovering engines will start overheating.
What a shit plane
>>184904295
I mean its fine for taking off and landing.
A bigger issue is that it's a slow plane, and when playing DCS i get all giddy when a lock up a plane going 800kmh
>>184875764
But it's kinda a thing
VAT has server called "PhantomControl"
I think ED fucked it up with update, but I'm sure it will come back
Basically you follow a bot, he gives you aerobatic commands. Damage and collision is disabled
>>184882041
I did before, but now I got a busy schedule it's hard to bump it. But when I can, I always post a mig/su/mi
