People saying discard won't see play is the same people saying purify was the worst thing ever. Times have changed, discard currently has the best card generation in the game(malchezaar imp), the cheapest high damage spells in the game(soulfire), one of the best taunts in the game(lakkari heckhound), the best charger in the game(doomguard), a totem golem without the overload(succubus), free potential 3/3 on turn 1(silverware golem), literally infinite minions(lakkari sacrifice), better 3 mana rogue dude(clutchmother), insane sticky minions(cruel dinosaur) and insane yolo boardclear(deathwing). Only thing they were missing was health so they could abuse their op hero power and survive until the big boys get out, and guess what? They got one of the strongest heals in the game now: Lana'tell. This card could basically keep you alive forever, one could say it gives you infinite health, assuming you can keep it alive. Warlock may've been a joke for quite some time now, but they're about to be a force to be reckoned with...

some decks are clearly matched against other decks more often

They did this to allow card complexity levels to rise at a faster rate. We've seen some cool new card concepts, Defile being one of them. Dreadsteed's pseudo-infinity is and has been an obstacle for Team 5 since Naxxramas when they were going to make it a card but didn't because of Warsong Commander.

You say there is another way around it, making hidden rules for Dreadsteed for the cards Team 5 wants to make, allowing them to coexist. They have confirmed to be doing this for Grim Patron, and most likely Cruel Dinomancer and any other card combo that could break Defile. But there's a difference between Dreadsteed and these cards. Dreadsteed will break it 24/7. The other cards have to be set up and are much harder to break the card, requiring a really awkward change to the card if they chose the same path to fix them as Dreadsteed. Hidden rules aren't healthy for the game, but getting to see them in a game with Defile and Grim Patron or Cruel Dinomancer is a lot less likely than Defile and Dreadsteed because the latter requires 0 setup and can be done by playing the two cards from your hand.

I'm sorry if you like the card, but they aren't nerfing it into oblivion. The main function of the card is still there. You just can't buff it, and depending on how Blizzard's spaghetti code works out, you might even be able to keep the Spiritsinger Umbra combo. This change will allow for even more unique card designs to be put into the game in future sets.

I tend to agree. Dreadsteed's effect practically ruined the one brawl where taunts were on one side and charge was on the other. All I did that brawl was make specific hate decks with different ways to counter it. People bitch and moan about consistency, then suddenly want to throw consistency out the window when blizzard tries to make a decision to improve it? Most folks complaining have never tried to make anything, and don't actually understand how difficult it is. Just whiners who expect to be handed precisely what they want when they don't even know what they want besides something "good."

I think enrage has to be the most useless card mechanic in the game. I have played Hearthstone competitively for 2 years and can probably count on one hand the number of times I've allowed a triggered enrage minion to survive more than 1 turn. It's pretty much an unwritten rule to treat them as if they were a taunt minion that you have to remove, and they are usually weaker than Taunt minions when they aren't in their triggered state.

I'm in such a shitty, unfun situation right now. I've reached my realistic best ladder rank for the season, so no use playing anymore ranked unless I want to stay in limbo. I love Arena, and I love the excitement of using gold to open packs (I'm a 100% F2P player) but I'm saving all of my gold for the upcoming expansion, so I can't have any fun with the game. I only really do quests and maybe a few unranked games for some easy 10 goldies. Sometimes I want to cave in and binge on Arena but I told myself next season is when I start to take Hearthstone seriously and reach at least rank 5. I also want enough gold, cards, and dust to be able to craft a legit tier-1 deck. So until the expansion drops, I'm stuck. Launch the fucking expansion Blizzard you already made all the cards stop delaying for no reason.

I don't spend money on Hearthstone, but I encourage everyone to preorder the new expansion. The new cards are very interesting and Hearthstone has worked so hard over the years to make whatever price tag reasonable.

$50 is a steal for a game of this magnitude. If I didn't want more challenge with the f2p play style, I wouldn't mind paying $100 for the preorder. Maybe if Blizzard makes the game more challenging (increase the number of rank, or limit the number of people in legend each season to about 500), I would start spending money someday.

Yeah, I gotta admit the entire online game seems like it was totally half-assed by some interns who had no clue what they were doing. The game's resolution is awful on even the highest settings, the card text is unnecessarily hard to read, there's random crashes, the single player characters are cringey, and the whole thing just has a cheap, rushed feel to it. Still fun though somehow.
