Undead Giants are pretty easy to take down. You always have the Poison Knives as an option if nothing else.

With Rom you have to deal with oneshotting romlets in cramped quarters and Rom turtling in some corner like a fag.

Chalice Rom is such shit compared to the story one and I think Chalice Rom and amy are the most disproportionately hard bosses compared to their story appearances.

Meanwhile Abbo and BSB are tough but fair.

What boss have you tried getting summoned for? Orphan and Ludwig are always active spots. Micolash annoys people, try him sometimes. Ebrietas is also a boss people summon for often. Don't ring just at the fog gate: in Mensis, people will summon for the entire area. Have you setup a password once and forgot to remove it after?

The arc scaling is trivial and only there out of necessity as BB doesn't have any weapon with innate elemental damage that doesn't scale.
Boom Hammer is functionally pure str.

Also it doesn't stunlock things and its normal moveset is slow and weak garbage. The entire gimmick of the weapon is the trick buff and heavy attacks. The uncharged R2 when buffed is an AoE projectile so you can kite groups of enemies, and use charged R2s to blow up bigger, singular targets. It's a methodical weapon.

The drain isn't a big deal if you use it properly. Don't stay in tricked mode for any longer than you're attacking. Learn to use unzip attacks and trick attacks. Getting to the Chikage from the beginning is a little annoying. Bloodletter and Bow and really fun, you should try to add those in to the same build

In fact, she's the most likely culprit, assuming that the culprit was a named character at all.

Using the Chikage is easy and fun. You basically just unzip, mash R1, back off and rezip. Because you never spend more than a few moments in tricked mode, the HP loss is trivial. The unzip is your strongest attack, so you always want to use any space or breather to untrick and reset for another unzip.

The worst part about bloodtinge builds is actually getting any fucking weapon. There's no melee weapon that scales with 'tinge until the Chikage, so you're either forced to hybridize into skl and invest in another weapon in order to carry you through Logarius, or rely on firearms. The former is boring as fuck because you just end up using the same shit you've already used in every other playthrough for literally half the game and end up with a bunch of wasted points by the end. The latter is obnoxious because guns do pisspoor damage for most of the game and there's literally no way to make them an effective damage source until nearly the end of the game, and QSB are a painfully limited resource when you take 6-8 shots to kill anything. Bloodbullets and BMA mitigate it somewhat but it still stresses your resources way more than a standard melee build and performs much worse.

Either option you choose, you have to be strong enough to kill Logarius before you can actually get your fun weapon. And then everything from thereon out is a fucking joke because the Chikage is too strong relative to the difficulty of NG pve. It basically hits like a kirkhammer with the speed and stamina costs of a saw. The HP drain is supposed to be a balancing factor but in reality you just murder everything before it ever matters.

It's a matter of the original japanese deliberately not specifying gender (their language has optional gender-neutral nonspecific pronouns) and the english being forced to guess one because english can't properly refer to a singular individual without specifying gender. Given the fact that Hunters have some sort of deep, spiritual connection to invading the labyrinth (to the point where Gehrman calls it "communion"), and the labyrinth itself is stuffed with bagged and hanging bodies arranged like the Hunter's rune, I'm assuming Gehrman and the original Hunters were Byrgenwerth's spelunking specialists, and the ones that actually went down into the Labyrinth to find stuff. After all, the place is heavily guarded and crawling with supernatural enemies that run-of-the-mill researchers would've been hopeless against. In order to penetrate to any serious depth, Byrgenwerth would've needed people capable of combat.

Only then somehow archeologists with supernatural self-defense training somehow ended up serving as armed thugs in the sacking of a fishing village and shit got bad from there.

The burial blade is probably not his original weapon, but one that he made for himself when he became a full-fledged hunter. But why would he make specifically a scythe? Only if he was already familiar and comfortable with this weapon.

The weapons' description explains this. The scythe has a symbolic significance associated with the practice of hunting itself. The original hunters don't hunt and kill for their own pleasure or for the convenience of humans. They hunt to lay the horrifically metamorphisized victims of the arcane to rest. If you're gonna occasionally use tricked and don't want your viscerals to be stunted sure. If you're going for a little extra Blood damage, get Lost. For maximum OoS Korea, farm the gems first then get the one you have the gems for. Normal will do fine till then.

STR gets bloodletter and the cannon/gatling gun but DEX gets the bowblade, chicago and rifle spear/reiter

STR/BLT is more fun and easier to fit in around BL 100, both are pretty fun if you level to 120 or so, but I still like str/blt better. It lets you use Bloodletter in both forms and use its trick attacks

I've never found 40/40 to be worthwhile, it's always better to hit the 50 cap.
I would start with Str/Blt and see if you can squeeze enough points in Skl to get the Chikage and Bowblade. Rifle Spear and Reiter get the Blt damage from gunshots, and you'll need your bullets for the heavy artillery.
Either way you do it, be sure to bring the Madaras Whistle.

Base stats with Flat Arc gems for multi-hit spam, 50 Str with Blunts for Untricked mode, 25/50 Str/Arc with Nourishings for tricked mode. 50/25 Str/Arc can use Blunts and/or Nourishings as well, any Wheel build can use Flat Arc gems effectively.
