Feeling it, I spent about 140 hours purely using 1234 but after adapting to these new inputs my combos are a lot more consistent. I think it's a must as well for playing Akuma. I can't imagine at this stage FAD cancelling by using 1+2 separately.

The answer should be obvious, but it's Kazuya. His moves, such as EWGF, represent the execution part of Tekken. Anyone can have a 90+% EWGF rate in practice mode, but it's different in a real match.

He can transform into a devil, which represents the variety in the roster. Humans, devils, bears, Yoshimitsu, kangaroos, dinosaurs, etc.

He has been main character in the story for the longest time.

a) Takes the most of skill to actually master and has the huge pay off to make it impossible to counterpick or adjust properly.
b) Is a fun tool to learn all the cheap shit of the roster without autistically going through every single one of them for a day or so.
c) A great tool to learn the basics and realise there are immense parallels among the characters down to the very input of most moves.
d) A fun way to play with your bad friends without stomping them every time.
e) Is not just a glorified random button since that doesn't change your char every round.

Steve has a couple nasty float traps which can force techrolls into very dangerous situations. He's also capable of punishing techrolls by mixing up with EXTDCK mixups. He can forgo damage on a couple of hard knockdowns to fish for oki traps too.

Bryan has a very strong oki game as well, counterhits can give way to backturned traps and at the wall he can pressure people into making bad moves by abusing the taunt. If they choose to play passive they risk eating soccer kicks all day and getting put back in the blender.

I'd prefer to stick with one or two characters, so you can really get in deep with them, learning their match ups and shit, instead of going through the roster, but I always end up jumping into pratice with a character of slight interest, and then eventually ranked.

The character you most consistently enjoy is the one you should main, or the character who you get the least upset when you lose with them. For example, if you have a really good time when you're on point with Hwo but feel like absolute dogshit when you're not, I wouldn't main that character. But if on the opposite end, you feel good when you're doing well with Bryan and just kinda whatever win-some-lose-some when you're getting fucked up, I would pick Bryan instead.

I mean, in so far as he is the easiest Mishima to play, yes. But Devil Jin is also a character who is incredibly well rounded and is kind of a master of all trades, jack of none character.

When I think of a thinking man's character, I think of a character who has an incredibly wide array of options available to them to deal with literally any situation. Devil Jin seems like he can absolutely do that, only you have to really dedicate the time to practice him.

How do fellow controller users hold their thumb on the D-pad? If I cover it with my thumb it feels like I can do backdashes easier but movement in general feels really rusty, and I often miss inputs like d/b, while when I use my thumb more loosely, I can't backdash for shit and my thumb starts to hurt really fast.
Any tips? Should I just keep on practicing with my whole thumb or switch back to playing it loose?
