Toss the Rapiers, for starters. Also, on this PS a Jawbreaker isn't warranted, it's a DMG soaking barn that can't be efficiently covered with armor pieces without jacking up the PS even higher, where a single cannon and a rapier doesn't cut it.
In fact, there's too many things wrong with that build, gb2 the drawing board.

They are self contained, if you blow them up, there's no hole in the hull. Also, the new 3x3 and 5x5 turrets are the shit, those aim 160 degrees/second, while the older turrets that were on a 1x1 could barely turn 30 d/s

I am not that person, I haven't used the rapier after the buff, I guess its okay, but the gun is not very popular, 5 energy, easy to miss without scope, bad at close range.

Autocannons have minor splash damage that spreads over several neighboring parts, doing fuckall damage. And the splash zone for AC's, cannons, rockets and grenades is a hemisphere, meaning damage is full only at the right angle. Explosive spears and Executioner have a cone splash zone. Porcupine minelayer and Mandrake arty have a full sphere splash zone. "Splash damage" is actually 22 hitscan rays calc'd from the point of explosion and spread within a certain radius and angle.
I'd recommend sticking with MGs and shotguns for now. Use coolers only. Radiators decrease DPS for most automatics, except GLs and miniguns and die Flammenwerfer. A bit later on, obtain an ammo box and 2 Wasps, put on Growl.
Mechanics' grilles/gun mounts are the most important parts, they take just 10% damage and pass through 90%. Attach them on the cabin or frame, they tank splash dmg and allow robust mounting points.

A few months ago, there was a serb which went full railworld and decentralized production, but then host decided for a new game which promptly died.
Before that, it had been roughly a year of 'content update when'.

I'm calling FtD a glorified sandbox because of the absurdly low difficulty level.
Once you're past the vertical climb that is the initial learning curve (what is UI? where do camera? how make unit followed order? how to plane?), there's basically zero challenge or limitation.
Even if you were to provoke every faction into -100 relations, they will still for the most part sit on their asses and do nothing - if you're lucky they'll send a 20-point raiding party.

Against the vast majority of factions, a cheap fast plane with missiles and glide bombs will decimate whatever you'll be facing, as the AI designs trend heavily toward very weak anti-air.
Not that the quality of your own designs matter particularly, given that you have more resources than you can spend, once you've captured a second or third resource node.
Should you ever find yourself a particular enemy vessel that's problematic, chances are you can simply brute force it away by tossing more (or larger) vessels at it.
I'm well aware that most RTS rely on cheating AI for any difficulty above "hard", but in the case of FtD it's frankly pathetic; the base difficulty is sandbox.

Pure HE is good against lighter materials but metal and heavy armor have always faired a lot better against it. Try AP cap, depth sensor, then HE and set the depth sensor so the HE will explode a bit inside the target. I have always preferred using frag tho because it seems to achieve better penetration while still damaging more than one block. Haven't done extensive testing yet so don't take my word for it, try several ammo permutations.

In the long term, the yellow inserter won't pick up plates any faster than the assembler consumes them. And the red inserter can't drop them onto the belt faster than the yellow inserter removes them (and thus clears space on the belt).

All item flows are ultimately self-limiting. Items can only be produced faster than they are consumed to the extent that there is storage available to hold the excess. And eventually that storage will fill, meaning that additional items can only be produced as fast items are removed from storage.

The only time you need to explicitly control the rate of production or consumption is if you have multiple producers or consumers and you need to control the balance between them. E.g. if you're doing research *and* building rockets, you might want to control which of the two gets priority for any resources which are under-produced.

1.5km. Since energy consumption grows constantly, the more chargers you have, the longer you can jump with minimal charge. With 3 seconds of charging, i had used 15% of my batteries and i would be sent 500m forward.

I'll keep tinkering with this, because i think that playing with the ACB, i can make multiple long jumps without needing a nuclear reactor to power up the batteries

It depends on the orientation of the warp drive, on the webm, i'm using a warp aiming upwards, and on the pics i'm using a warp aiming forwards. Since my vehicle is longer than taller, warp drives aiming upwards can be way smaller while keeping high efficiency.
Also, the smaller the warp drive, the easier it is to achieve a good rod/charger ratio. Right now i'm testing a vertical warp drive 20m long that has 120m of chargers and an efficiency of 86%, and i can get to distances of 800m just using 60k energy

If you're playing the campaign, any and all units (botes, plens, turrets, harvesters, ANYTHING) that aren't currently in use should be taken out of play.
I cannot emphasize how important the out of play toggle is for the campaign to play properly, both in terms of performance and units actually following orders.
Again, units should only be taken into play if they're in combat (at which point it happens automatically), or you need to work on them for some reason.

Like, you can use natural to improve your metal production, or break it down to oil, or use both metal and natural as a feedstock to create more crystal (think the way C&C Tiberium replicates itself).

/egg/men, I built the loop smelter I discussed a couple of days ago. It's glorious; it'll make a full red belt of copper, iron, or a mix of the two as plates go above or below 2000 in the sorting back-end. The mix is controlled by wiring the ore inputs going into a single splitter, and fuel is injected by inserting into a splitter that checks whether there's at least 4 bits of coal on a span of 6 wired belts.

It's somewhat efficient in terms of space: furnace time is shared between copper and iron, which is nice in a smol factory of comfy spaghetti that mostly doesn't.

I want to transition from "small train constantly running between mining and smelting" to "enormous train runs occasionally" and I need somewhere to put all the ore, basically I want a huge ore battery to store an entire deposit of ore in. Unfortunately chests only store 2.4k so it takes over 400 to store 1 million ore, and 400 chests takes up a lot of space, especially when I don't think I can do better than 1:1 chests:inserters without using logistics which is tantamount to cheating in a game about spaghetti factories.

I'm using the closest thing there's in FtD. Basically, everytime the AI tells it to move forward, it jumps, which is ~20 times per second.

12 boxes per cargo wagon (or 6 if you are going 1 side) far exceed the cargo wagon's 2k limit.

A steel chest stores the same as a wagon (48 stacks). So if you have 6 chests per wagon, that's 6 trains worth of storage. If that isn't enough, you need to upgrade the rail network (either add more trains, or remove bottlenecks).

As a general rule, you only want enough storage to smooth out short-term variations in supply and demand.

In the long term, rates of production and consumption will always be equal. Total consumption can't exceed total production, and total production can't exceed total consumption by more than the available storage. If the rate of production exceeds the rate of consumption, adding storage will only delay the point where production starts to backlog.

If you want an optimal factory, you're more likely to want to remove storage: replace belts with logistic bots, or shorten belts, or use the circuit network to feed just enough items onto a belt to keep the far end full rather than the entire belt, or use the circuit network to keep just enough items in a chest rather than an entire stack.

The less storage you have, the more quickly a factory will settle to its equilibrium state, allowing you to correctly identify the bottlenecks.

Don't do that. In general, any kind of shared storage is a bad idea. You're better off having separate trains and stations for oil and water (so at the refinery, you have one station for offloading oil and another for offloading water).

You can make a train leave a stop as soon as either the source tank is (almost) empty or the destination tank is (almost) full. It's best not to require completely full/empty as this leaves the train sitting there while being loaded or unloaded at a trickle. As soon as you aren't getting full flow rate, leave.

With a shared train, you need to leave as soon as either condition is met (so that if e.g. you're consuming oil faster than water, you don't starve the refinery of oil by waiting while the water offloads into a nearly-full tank)

I think what I'll do is, I'll have a waiting station where the train checks the fluid levels of the refinery's crude oil, the refinery's water, and the uranium mine's sulfuric acid. Once any of them drops below an acceptable level, the train will depart the waiting station.
Reaching the first stop, the oil wells, the train will depart with either "fluid wagon = full" or "refinery oil level > acceptable level". Thus, if the refinery didn't trigger the journey it won't pick up any oil, slowing down for but immediately departing the station. Then it will carry on to the oil refinery where it will depart once it is empty (which will be immediately if it wasn't the oil that was low).
Then it will go to the water fillup and water dropoff stations with the same conditions, and lastly the acid fillup and dropoff, finally returning to the waiting station with an empty tank, ready to start again.
By making the reservoirs at each destination greater than the wagon size, I can ensure that the train always departs completely empty, avoiding any residual fluid issues.

I'm essentially stapled to Children of a Dead Earth, it's a spaceship building game focused around completing various missions which require an understanding of orbital mechanics, after a couple missions you unlock a ship customizer which allows you to swap around pre-built parts, and after a couple more missions you're given the module builder and that's where the game really gets it's depth. Every module is completely customizable, build your own guns, missiles, nuclear reactors, etc, you have access to scores of current and near-future materials with which to construct your custom parts and the dev tries his hardest to use only real numbers to provide as accurate a simulation as possible. The dev is very regular and updates once every two-ish months.

Essentially build and test your very own spaceship waifu.

When a vessel warps, what happens to any missiles it has fired?
I remember some flying suicide-plane an anon posted here, which would fire a lot of safety-fused missile into a chamber where they would accumulate.
On impact, the suicide-plane would release all these missiles, causing immense damage.

What I'm thinking is something similar. The important part is that the plane accumulates missiles into a closed chamber, and flies somewhere near the enemy.
If the fired missiles are unaffected by warping, then they will not move alongside the plane as it warps - essentially freeing them from their prison.
The effect is simple: a plane which can deliver a massive barrage of bombs using only very few launchers.

Suicide anon here

The original suicide box was just a way to punch a hole in enemy ships and allow me to crawl inside and fuck everything up manually. I also developed a bomber that operated on largely the same concept, except that the bombs accumulated inside a box that had a bottom that rotated out of the way at the right time.

Missile bombers in general have become less effective over time. Originally they were just a way to inflict damage from a really friggin fast plane. The big 3 updates that made them less effective were the speed cap, nucannons and not allowing IR to work underwater. The first 2 of those put even the fastest planes within reach for most enemies, and the last one made near misses a lot less dangerous.

Nowadays I use missile bombers mostly as minelayers, hoping to get a lucky hit and partial mobility kill on stupidly fast ships. Warp could bring back the old days of untouchable sanic bombers, since they can be unpredictable enough to avoid getting hit.

My personal setup is a square of four warp drives, rigged to a spin block timer. The plane warps about 2.5x its height/width every .6 seconds, first up, then left, then down, then right, then up again and so on.
When coupled with an already moderately erratic flight path, the result is that you're categorically impossible to hit with anything that takes more than .6 seconds to reach you, and that's assuming perfect firing timing.

And this is a spaceship, so it never stays within 1s of the enemy.

I would fuse a cabin instead of wheels though. Youd need 3 wheels to get 1 fusioned wheel, and you might not get the fusion perk you wanted. And you need like 4-8 wheels for a car.

Meanwhile you fusion a cab and theres only 2 perks, 10% more tonnage and 10% carry mass I think. And since you only need one cab on a car its much less risk to do.

Well I did an experiment. Replaced two aircraft wheels with racing wheels and, despite the slightly increased weight from the wheels themselves, the speed and acceleration bars increased. The difference in acceleration was very small, though, even with 660kg more max tonnage. Redartowalls should be repurposed to use red ammo, since blue biters are already in, already angry.
Smelting area needs fixing, as a rule of thump don't split a belt if it's not to ensure 1/2^n load from the base belt array. ex. coal line is precisely divided into 8 and then (ie. after split) is routed to furnaces.
Smelting area is steel, so all belts should be upgraded to red.
IronUnload station will start working soon, feel free to route from it, instead of local iron patch, but for the love of god: proper balancing of the ore going in and proper balancing of iron going out.
I will increase the gear production, since current assembly line is barely visible on the bus, singular cogs, far, far from each other.

Why is there "no path" when the signal is green? that way you have excess raw materials going into your factory
then you can ramp up your factory until its consumption meets your excess production and restart the cycle

You'll need a lot of copper kind of one-time if you haven't already set up a reactor, but by far majority of copper goes to copper wire for electronic circuits and the like
If you have excess raw material being produced just ramp up your material consumption, you can't have enough electronic circuits late game since you'll be slamming them together to make processing units and advanced circuits

Well... the surface gravity would be that of a star. Quite big.
The only difference is that it's fucking cold because it's not QUITE big enough to create fusion under its own mass.
Even gas giants have enough gravity to crush us at their 'surface', so don't even think about trying to colonize a frozen star.
