ok 4x, my fleet has finally equalled the AE fleet.
the AE has stopped building ships at around 908k.
his fleet supply must be 1000 over budget.
his economy must be at the breaking point.
mine is too.
simply moving this fleet out of dry dock puts me at -500EC, -500min.
i will have to play this card carefully.
the empire whos economy breaks first, will lose this battle.
i expect the battle alone to take 2 years.
i have to move the fleet to the front in segmets to avoid upkeep costs outside of drydock.
my plan, is to bait out his fleet with a small torpedo boat force.
his economy will be ruined while he chases the corvettes
at that point i will move out of drydock.
and strike with the full might of my fleet.

i am going to win.
god willing.

Look on the bright side. After the first major confrontation your fleet will be so tattered you'll probably be able to afford the upkeep while you slowly occupy systems for warscore. I'd recommend hitting all their spaceports before you get settled into that though, those motherfuckers churn out new ships scary fast.

Thinking of going fanatic pacifist, xenophobe for agrarian idyll and inward perfection.

I've never really played that far before, but what happens once you switch the main ethos? You would lose civics associated to it, right? So the moment I stop being xenophobe I would lose out on inward perfection and upon losing peaceful I would no longer have the agrarian idyll.

here are the final battle stats.

the giga cannons did most of the work as expected. in a fight liek that, the range is just so OP. they are prolly my favorite weapon in the game.

kinetic arty kinda under performed, imo considering how many hard points were dedicated to it. i guess the 20% AP really hurts them bad. but.... they have amazing range.

one thing that is suprising is how well the 1 medium plasma cannon per BB did. a damn fine showing despite how few of them were fielded.

the corvettes were shit. the destroyers were shit. the cruisers were shit. wont make them anymore.

the flak utterly dominated the fighters. my god, did they not do a single point of damage? 2000 fighters did literally nothing because of 1 flak per BB.

I'm going back to Civ 4 (w/ Realism Invictus) unless there is a free fix for this outrageous bullshit. I mean, they really threw the baby out with the bathwater. Want to fix the stack of doom mechanic? Make units take up a reasonable proportion of a tile. Tiles have to be considered at least 100sq miles, even on a huge map, right? I can't fit two scouts in one tile?

Did you play Civ 4? It's a hell of a game with Realism Invictus installed. Lots of possibilities and detail, and carefully balanced gameplay. I actually quite liked 5 at first glance, it just fell down on the gameplay almost immediately, and asked for forty quid's worth of dlc to fix it. There wasn't even the Conquest victory condition during setup. Why take perfectly good options out of a game like that? Like the stacking thing, it doesn't make any sense, and it doesn't make sense to play a game that I'm just modding and paying money to turn into it's predecessor.

This looks right in theory but is very wrong in practice.

For a start, traits are worthless.
> "B-but 15% minerals!"
No. If a planet was literally all mines, then yes, 15% minerals. But planets - especially ones you capture from the AI - aren't all mines, they're a hodgepodge of mines, energy, research, and food, which will balance out into 25% mines. 15% industrious only activated on 25% of tiles nets you 4.25% - i.e. basically nothing.

> "B-but muh 50% happiness!"
No. Faction shittery means your founder species pops won't be at 100% happy, 20% production bonus. They'll be some grotesque distribution function running the gamut from like native 25% to maybe 80% if you're hard shilling the government faction demands. The highest I have ever seen a single faction's pop support get to is 40% spiritualist during a minmax tall game (and if you're tall you are by definition not purging and resettling, but whatever). This leaves 60% of your pops either "meh" or "very pissed off materialists", immediatly collapsing your happiness "gain" from 50% to 20%, and this with an unrealistic application of best-case tall play to generic wide play, and without considering the production lost during purge time and regrowth, and without considering the fact that everyone will DoW you due to genocide diplo.

> "B-but I'll improve living standards to up the happiness bonus!"
The cost in consumer goods always exceeds the gain in production bonus.

TL;DR: Wiz doesn't know how to balance, purge is impractical fluff for meme plays

Neuter. They die off slower than they're replaced by non-neutered populations.
>>
>>183328534
Yeah, my leader started with reformer and space miner. It's 2234 and I have already unlocked two ascendances while having 7 planets, half of my capacity. My main problem is getting influence. The expansion policy certainly helped a lot in reducing the influence cost for outposts and colonizing.

I could just go and humiliate my rivals, but I don't think most of my populace would take too kindly too that.

Hence why I use neuter, by putting a non-neutered pop on each planet I replace the populations gradually so nobody complains. The neutered population is given welfare so they have a -5 happiness mallus which is nothing, and the replacement population is typically very happy because they're either xenophobic or militant so they're happy from all the wars of conquest and domination. There's no diplomatic fallout from neutering a population to death either.

The ACTUAL reason was that sector AI has never been able to understand adjacency bonuses and people were starting to notice and complain, so instead of fixing the problem Wiz just cut out the mechanic so you his retarded machine child doesn't look bad.

Psionics have access to the best shields, FTL method and (for everything except full artillery battleships) the best combat computers via the Shroud.
They also have access to Psionic armies which are only trumped by gene warrior armies.

While it's RNG based the also have access to Shroud Avatars which are the strongest land unit and ship available in the game depending on which one you get. (You can have several)

Psionics also gain access to covenants.
The Eater of Worlds provides a bonus to fire rate and army damage on par with fanatical purifiers.
The Whispers in the Void adds a good boost to research. Somewhere in the 15%-20% range.
The Composer of Strands essentially gives your species the robust trait
The Instrument of Desire gives 25% boosts to energy and mineral production.
We don't talk about The End of The Cycle

There's also generic boons you can get.

Yeah, you might have to deal with some RNG but Psionics is definitely the most powerful path.

I think I am probably biased against Psyonic because the first time I tried it I got an extremely good start where I mannaged to snatch up a good quarter of the galaxy and had minerals and energy out the ass so I was super excited to see what it had to see
and then the RNG proceeded to Give me literally nothing for 250 years until the unbidden turned up right next to my capital at the same time that the Xenophobe Awakened empire decided to tear me a new asshole
then as if it was taunting me the fucking shroud gave me the end of the cycle option after all hope for the game was lost.

If I ever touch Spiritualists again I will either go down the genetic path or be savescumming the fuck out of it because fuck that RNG with a rake

Finally. Been tracking this wraith for a decade now, building up a fleet to kill it and waiting for it to enter an M class system. Time to kill this thing before it wanders into a Fallen Empire and they curb-stomp it.

Nobody in that fight evaded anything? My corvettes have 90% evasion and my destroyers 45%, so those wraith beams must have insane tracking to ignore 90% evasion. As for the red wraith fought in a red star, nice that it apparently reduces it's bullshit 100 evasion to 0 so even a kinnetic battery can hit it.

Yeah, I'm guessing wraith beams have 100% tracking which eliminates enemy evasion and a 80-82% accuracy. Sort of a less accurate lightning weapon but great at swatting corvettes out of the sky.

8600 of the 14000 damage was done by kinetic artillery, fleet was 2 cruisers (gas giant salvage), 34 of these ka-1 destroyers, and 66 3x advanced railgun corvettes.

Probably not a good fight to judge future battles because the wraith was gimped by the red star.
>>
>>183382741
As someone fairly new to stellaris, how'd you beat a leviathan with such a small fleet?

How many? mouse over your happiness at the top of the screen.

How many copies of each one? Try to trade one away. If you have 2, it's safe to trade 1. If it's RENEWING a trade, not starting a new trade (when the AI proposes you continue a deal), the game usually fails to update properly and shows you as not having the 1 you are renewing, so it's safe to renew, you won't lose any.
>>
>>183369256

If you are really tight on land, you usually want to just go aggro early. Expand directly in someone's face, start pumping archers, and then composite rush them. It's far less viable in this iteration than in previous patches, but composite rushing does give you a ton of archer experience, which is kind of a win condition all on it's own. A ton of heavily upgraded crossbows can do a lot on the map.

Tangentially related but I once had a primitive planet I was bombarding turn into a (unterraformable) toxic world before I could finish the job. I know primitives always have the chance to nuke themselves into oblivion but it seemed strange in this case since I don't think they were at the atomic age yet when I started. My only guess is they advanced all the way there then triggered the nuke themselves event, but it's pretty strange that can happen when an alien fleet is making target practice of your civilization.

Also it's bs that ex-primitive planets don't get the terraforming candidate flag.

I played it back when it had its own general on /tg/, just seemed to evaporate after the Tau update.

Combat itself is really satisfying and in-depth. There's definitely multiple play styles for each faction. The arcadey meme skills like teleport have been removed or reworked as well. Multiplayer is hit-or-miss, mostly miss since there's no one but insta-gib Eldar deathbeamers and Tau rail gun snipers left playing regularly. Campaign is also very solid, so I think $8 is miles better than what I paid at launch.

It doesn't really, but than the federation bordering you declares war on you second after truce from previous one ends is no fun.
Most annoying thing is that out of 7 states in it,only 1 is equal to me in the means of fleet power. But then they combine all their shitty fleets in doomstack they outnumber me, so all I can do is wage defensive wars. The only thing that keeps me alive is stupidity of AI. They just put they doomstack on the orbit of mine planet and bombard it for whole duration of war while I conquer their systems.

In what world is the slave army not the best?
There's no restriction on how many troops you can use to invade a planet, and a slave army shits out the most damage with respect to both build cost and upkeep.
Further, an army composed of more dropships is more capable of hitting multiple targets (should resistance be less than expected), and a smaller proportion will be lost when attacked by ships.

Clone armies are okay too
>>

You need to waste a slot and resources building a slave processing plant on each planet you want to build slave armies while psionic armies you can shit out anywhere your pops are.

Liberate -> vassalize has generally been standard. You can always just colonize other planets or integrate a vassal, and that way you don't have to manage unhappy pops.
>>
>>183444762
Why spend influence integrating a vassal, when you can just conquer right away?
Further, why settle for for fewer planets, when conquer planet is cheaper in terms of warscore?

Some kind of display with big red arrows leading from capital to capital showing what empires declared war on which empires would be nice. Along with some kind of yearly play-by-play showing the major battles that are determining the outcome of the war.

Maybe some kind of spying mechanism giving general ideas of what the conflict is about, why the war started, what the beligerants expect as an outcome, what the most effective equipment either side is using.

Like:
>"Baanthurian Hegemony is fighting this DEFENSIVE war because Jess'lnax Council saw them as their main threat, the Baanthurian Hegemony was still weak from it's [war] with the [Djomer] which ended [6 months] prior.

>The [Jess'lnax] goal is to turn the [Baanthurian Hegemony] into it's [vassals] so it will have [an influence in the /southern/ region of the galaxy.

>The [Baanthurian Hegemony]'s goal is to [survive] [hope for humiliating] the [Jess'lnax]

>The war has been going on for [7 years, 9 months], the Baanthurian Devastator Torpedo and the Jess'lnax Medium Disruptor are the two most used weapons in this war. The Baanthurnan are predicted to lose this war within the next 5 years unless something changes.
>[CLICK HERE TO WATCH REPLAY AND ANALYSIS OF THE 5 MAJOR BATTLES OF THIS WAR]

Lets talk about rushing The End of a Cycle

Spiritualist - Xenophobe - Pacifist, inward perfection and idyll.

How many planets should I blob to before unity becomes significant diminishing returns?
Also I think the order of traditions goes:
Prosperity -> Private Colony Ships to free up mineral income towards expansion and unity buildings.
Expansion before finishing Prosperity, then fill out Prosperity -> Supremacy (3 rivals = 30% unity) -> Discovery -> Habitability +10% the federation fuck tree maybe?

It's probably one of the worst but +30% governing ethics attraction and +10% unity generation.

Find an artist enclave and dump minerals into art pieces for all worlds?

>+21 unity art monuments.

I'm a little torn about Slave Processing Facility actually in early/mid game.
It has a fairly high initial cost (250?) and I think it has 2-3 energy upkeep? -- on the other hand it is delicious to place slave processing facility next to your capital building on a +2 minerals / +1 food or similar tile. Between slave inherent bonus food/minerals, possible guild/empire bonuses, and the 10% it provides you get fairly good returns out of the spot.
>>
>>183445654
You already know this, but I'll tell you anyway: you have to put those planets in a sector, so you aren't really getting them. They may as well be in a vassal so they aren't fucking your unity and science.
>>
>latest community "balance" patch

>>
>>183449918
>you have to put those planets in a sector, so you aren't really getting them
Remind me again how much income you'll get from a vassal.
Is it more or less than 75% of the planetary production?
Keep in mind that the "lost" 25% can still be used by the sector itself.

>unity
As a slaving despot, I've come to accept shit-tier unity.

>science

>25% of a planet you can't fix because it's stuck in a sector is approximately nothing
You're arguing that sectors are horrible because you can't "fix" them, yet arguing in favour of vassals - even though they cannot be "fixed" either.
I'd firstly like to point out that while you obviously cannot do anything to a planet already in a sector, you can do whatever you please before it's added.

Thus:
>conquer planet
>build defense armies
>optionally adjust buildings
>insert into monolithic sector

>science
>important
Are we talking about Stellaris, or are you just playing a heavily modded game?
Science offers a few nice things, most of which are strictly tied to economy (influence, better production buildings).
Unfortunately, the mineral production buildings take a few decades to return on investment.

In terms of military tech, only navy cap, better space ports and a few isolated upgrade (battleships, plasma cannons, arc emitters) have a significant impact.
Conveniently, the technology for ship subsystems can be acquired through war by stomping on "empires" silly enough to prioritize science over material wealth and military power.

>>183451252
I'm admittedly a bit ignorant on the dynamics on how pops chance ethics, so bear with me here.
Assuming a newly integrated (whether through vassal annexation or violent conquest) planet has pops of correct ethics, would the pops still not drift into the wrong ethics?
I don't understand why assimilating correct-ethic pops would prevent instability (which is a nonexistent problem regardless), outside of delaying the spawn of political factions.

>he thinks different ethics just boils down to "less happiness"
Elaborate. I can only think of influence being significantly impacted by pops going to wrong ethics.

I've been thinking about Mega-Niggeneering and Megastructures, and I really think that one Megastructure at a time is stupid. If anything it should be based on population.
For example let's say you need 50 pops to allow you to build a megastructure, but at 50 pops it's very slow. At 100 pops it is optimum, and using more than 100 pops, let's say up to 150 increases the speed dramatically.
If you have 100 pops, you can choose to start construction of 2 megastructures at a time, but they'll be built very slowly since they count as 50 pops working each.
What do you guys think?
>>
>>183459796
I just use a mod that uncaps it, I usually have something like 500 pops by the time I'm building megastructures in ~2350 anyway. What you've suggested is certainly better than Paradox's solution.

>>183458242
Yeah but even the most trivial amount of technology will negate any evasion you could reliably have on battleships -- 14 base (impulse thrusters and base). Assuming 70% overall bonus a battleship slams into a rather extremely unimpressive "Shit on by any medium weapon's inherent tracking and tier 1 sensors" -- and I'm assuming in this you have managed to setup the +50% evasion admiral (Requires psychic ascension completion,
and randomly chosen one-ing your admiral), maxing out thruster tech, and getting a specific random event.

Enigmatic encoder and precognative can bump up cruiser evasion a fair bit to where it might actually be worth running a cruiser fleet over a battleship fleet, but enigmatic encoder uses one of your aux slots and is super RNG, while precog is also a bit of RNG to collect.
At a reliable 24 from cruiser-precog-impulse, cruiser can actually hit 40% evasion, which should let them run slightly advantaged against most medium sized weapons, and about 12% evasion against most max tech long range destroyers.

Maybe it is better than I'm giving it credit though.

What tracking do FE//AE's typically have?
>>
>>183460437
Well yes obviously battleships can't evade, and you shouldn't switch from battleships to cruisers unless you get a tech that makes cruisers good again.

That whole central corridor should be knocked down and re-designed.

You have pretty low levels of traffic but it's getting bogged up in the north-south routes because of how badly you've designed it.

You high? Cruisers are in most ways are better than battleships. Sure, in a 1v1 scenario 1 Battleship should beat 2 Cruisers, but in a game where doomstacks are composed of mostly smaller ships, bomber bays and XL shipfuckers., a fleet of cruisers will outclass a fleet of battle cruisers anyday. BTW XL weapons have a min range and terrible chance to hit. 3M slots > 1 XL slot anyday

I just uninstalled.

After white peacing the fed, 10 years later they immediately war dec again, I'm trying to upgrade my ships to jump drives (because in the last war I couldn't fucking fight properly because my warp ships would spend 100 days in cool down) and because that takes a billion fucking years, even after splitting my fleet into 5 groups only 1 of them actually got upgraded in 10 years.

Their combined fleet is about 3 times the power of mine and wipes it out without much trouble.

This game is too much hassle once you get out of the early game where you actually have fun trying to pick and choose the best planets, and work around what the other empires do.

But If you do ANYTHING the game considers "bad" it becomes you vs the galaxy, even if it was in a defensive war, or the classic "I got rid of the guys who want to murder/eat everyone". If Paradox programmed Earth, everyone would have joined the Soviet Federation and declared war on the USA as soon as they dropped two nukes on Japan to end that war.

I'm just tired of trying to find fun in the mid and late game.

The only tactics are be boring as fuck and never do anything to piss off the AI, become your own giant federation (filled with idiot allies), or go mega blob extremely adaptive because you always end up fighting a bunch of combined empires.

I was trying to avoid the mega blob because I wanted to become synths and didn't want to wait for decades and decades to get perks to get ascensions required.

Never fought a war of aggression. Never rivalled anyone who hadn't rivalled me first. Never broke a non-aggression pact.

This is true but I find megablob somewhat fun as it can be challenging, sometimes, as you potentially have to fight large wars on multiple fronts. And blobbing isn't too bad if you build a lot of unity buildings and take colony reduction/unity increasing skills. But yes, overall the mid to late game is truly lacking.

The ticking warscore mod fixes this actually and should be added to the game itself. With that mod completing the goals you declared adds a steadily increasing score each month as long as you continue to hold them. If you only want 3 planets, then once you take those 3 you'll get score every month as long as you hold them until you hit 100. If they manage to take those planets back from you then you lose it all until you cap them again.

Deviant reduces governing ethics attraction for the pops which basically means two things.
1: You'll have a harder time growing the faction size of your governing ethics (expect a smaller portion of '100' pops in your fanatic materialist + militaristic government to be materialist or militaristic)
2: As pop happiness is tied to faction, you will probably have lower happiness IF you are focusing on your main faction requests. Similarly you will probably be getting less influence from factions because you will have more pops in the typically smaller non-governing ethics factions.

science is achievable surprisingly quickly thanks to all of your science buffs (and all of your meaningful tech targets for sophons are in the bottom tree), and the extra speed on all of your ships means that all of your ships are faster than pretty much everyone other than full midgame riftborn fleets when played by a human

combine this with the fact that you have an excess of science ships means that you also achieve the second science step really quickly, getting you to the actually important third story step as quickly as possible: the one that gives +100% science on cold, +100% industry on hot, or +100% dust on sterile

Odd, I thought you said it was a democracy.

So, why don't people get rid of the lizards?"

Vaulters. They're defensive science faction that also has natural aptitude for gathering strategic resources and their faction units all have Technolover trait that makes strategic resource gear of your current set holy resource even more powerful. Just beeline for strategic resource extraction techs, research strategic resource gear and you'll have the most highly kitted out units in the game. They can also teleport between owned cities, which can be used primarily for defense but also allows you to teleport more units to freshly captured cities so you can easily establish a strong a beachhead in enemy territory.

In Stellaris, is it best to specialize planets to one specific output or to respect tile resources?

You used to be able to make great mining planets with Mineral Silos but then they restricted the silo to 1 per planet.
>>
>>183542484
>thought I was too autistic for EL
>turns out I'm not autistic enough
>>
>>183548693
I respect tile resources in the beginning, but once I get enough income to queue up a lot of construction I emphasize planet modifiers and specialize.
>>
>>183548693
I specialize planets which have a planetary bonus for something that is better than any tile specific bonus.

For example, my Titanic Life planet is +25% social, so it's got a lot of biolabs, a cloning lab, a army academy. Still respected the +2 tiles for food/energy/minerals though.

My main mineral planet has a +50% mineral quality, it's almost entirely covered by mines (and one silo) because +50% is better than a +3 minerals.

A planet with no planetary modifier or just a crappy +5% in something I just ignore, tile bonus of even +1 is better.

As a Russoboo, Crusaderboo and a Byzantiboo, I have to state my respect for the Ottomans when you take into account their ability to effectively conquer and administer territory. The Millets were THE ideal way to prevent unrest in non-Muslim territories and the Devshirme, morality aside, allowed one of the first standing armies, which enabled the Empire to have some modicum of centralisation. The Ottoman Empire then managed to last around half a millenium after taking Constantinople, managing to rival the Roman Empire whose legacy it attempted to claim for itself - no mean feat.

Which brings me to another matter. If you had to create an empire to conquer the galaxy, what historical empire would you model it off? I thought about it quite a lot, because the Imperium of Mankind from Warhammer 40k seems quite dysfunctional - and sadly as a Byzantaboo and Crusadaboo, I see the parallels. Mindless treachery in the Administratum, meaningless wars based on religion rather than geopolitics, truly indicating of the End Times.

If we had to conquer the galaxy, I think we should do Millets in Space and Devshirme in space. Don't purge the Xeno. Make them pay space zakat and give their firstborn sons as part of the space Devshirme for the space Janissaries.

So, the main question - if you had to design an interstellar state to conquer the world, in your experience, what should it be based of?
>>
>>183570301
Zakat is what muslims pay, Jizya is what you want.

>>

I do, but there are so many that I have no idea what works or not or when it will activate. For example I tried to use the chain attack of the flying units of the forgotten on werewolves (there were two of them side by side) and bam, 0 damage.

Usually attacks have a chance of doing 0 damage, depending on how much attack you have vs defense of the enemy. All odds are shown at the bottom of the screen.

I don't think so, click "Reports" on the top of the UI and look at your resources, you'll notice that even with +2 or +3 luxury resources that only 4 cities get them.

If you don't have access to enough strategic resources it means you don't have enough cities.
If you don't have enough cities you probably don't have enough production to spam out cheaper units to compensate for your poor equipment compared to the AI's.

Or you could just hard counter the enemy's unit types and not worry too much about equipment.

>>183596932
I've never played as either of these, but the gamepedia website has good information easily accessible. Your faction has a similiar unit layout to the AM, being infantry->archers->flying. You definitely won't win in a brawl since their infantry uses hard counter attacks that affect your adjacent units.

I would say bring balanced archers and infantry. Shoot their frontline down since they don't use shields and use your infantry's skill to jump over their line and hit their archers. Minor tribe units will make things more complicated, and I would say you could use a heavy tank like Harmonite or Kanzanji.

>>
>>183598327
I think one of the most important things to note about EL combat is that equipment makes up more than half the consideration when planning a battle or a new army. Each armor or trinket or weapon gives a unit different traits and boosts to certain stats. Different types of equipment within the same tier can massively change the role of a unit in battle. You should always be ready to update your loadouts to match different enemies.

Take the time to go into your unit editor and equip different things to see what traits it will add to or take away from the unit.
>>
>>183598978
Ok but when it's early in the game and that you neither have resources nor production to allow you to experiment freely and the fucking minor factions are out to fuck you in the butt, it makes it pretty difficult.
Also I managed to do this against AM after they declared war on me. I held them during the siege of my capital and came back with a better army. Just a few turns later Drakkens declared war on me, I took a look at their units and they did way less damage than me, but I still got destroyed. Battle prediction didn't even show my color

>you are trying to play Forgotten, who are really not all that combat-oriented

>The ones that show you percentage to crit, hit, glancing blow and miss?
Can't see those values before entering combat so your "advice" on preparing beforehand is nil.
>The bonuses for standing on forests? What I got from playing is raw damage and initiative matter in early game, while attack and defence rule the late game.
Terrain bonuses literally don't matter because AI isn't good enough at anything for them to matter. It's either a roflstomp or you get so much enemies a forest tile won't help you.
>On higher elevation?
Only matters if you somehow fight with non-flying infantry units only, aka never.
>The morale mechanics?
Irrelevant outside of nation-wide espionage mission. No unit survives long enough being surrounded for this penalty to be impactful. And you don't need to care about it after espionage mission.
>And do you know how to chain orders so that a unit goes somewhere and THEN carries out an action?
Try to chain anything in a 8vs8 fight when not all of your units get the turn before enemy.

Anyone tried out the balance and update mods for EL yet? I'm playing with:

Mightier and Magicker - gives all heroes more skills and rebalances shittier / OP ones
Military Revolution - adds and changes some buildings, techs, and luxes, again to fix shitty buildings and provide more strategic decisions
Re-Items - makes weapon choices more diverse and adds a few tiers (dust/glassteel hybrids at era 4)

they really make the experience more freshing and less luck-based. More strategies feel viable and interconnected.

Caeser just declared war on me. Rushed my 8 or so guys at him and found his entire empire was two cities, and his army consisted of one spearman and a catapult.
Civ 6, what the fuck is wrong with you.

Wiz will add some "robot templates" technology with which you can add special traits to robots/droids/synths.

Image depicts a drilling machine, a tractor and a battery (the three resources). I think robots might beat slaves for mining work, except if one is using an iron fist governor and a slave processing center.

Still ass on conquest though (they need to be built).
>>
>>183635915

>actually it doesnt if they are industrious, conservationist and strong on tiles of 4 and above

Fuck it, you make up with different templates.
>>
>>183592890
there are two instances of ziema; the first one you get is a normal forgotten hero, but you later trade her in for a better version that comes with endgame-tier legendary weapons and amazing traits (ie fast learner) in like the fourth story step
>>
>>183635915
I really hope they remove the influence cost for moving robots from planet to planet. Not synths, but generic robots that's just industrial machinery.
>>

Somebody's gotta use SOMETHING to pick up stuff on planet A and shuffle it over to planet B.

Influence.
Energy.
Minerals.
Food.

The thing that makes me mad as fuck in stellaris is that only xenophobe ethos gets border range. Unfair as hell. I like to use other pops as resources and integrate them and xenophobe allows it to do it, but in the meanwhile you cant add other pops to your leadership and your diplomacy is ass.
>>
>>183637381
Energy (aka money) is what I'd pick for moving robots, droids and slaves around.

Authotarians should be able to move populations around for "free" but with a big happiness penalty for 10 or so years.

>>183637507
Militarists get "Nationalistic Zeal" for +10% border range.

I'd argue that Megacorporations shouldn't have border range but instead able to build stations in other non-hostile empire territory and buildings on other empire planets. Both empires gaining benefit from the station or tile.

I'd love some more non-standard empire mechanics.

Quick question, do increased cost go off on systems or planets?
>>
>>183643674
I do the same thing, it's just kinda immersion breaking to have something like a Necrophage leading my broken lad armies. The only time I can justify it to myself to have a leader from a different faction is if I'm playing roaming clans since they're all about hiring mercenaries. Nothing else makes sense lore-wise even considering the little blurb each hero gets about how they ate some dust and are outcasts.
>>
>>183646082
Stellar btw
>>
>playing broken lords
>get the quest to kill the 4 roving armies after exploring a ruin
>kill three of them, fourth slips away
>end up scouring the map to find them
>conquering empires just to build watchtowers and expand my vision
>take to the oceans and sieze naval supremacy from the Morgawr in case they had taken to the seas
>end up winning elimination victory, colonising every region and building every watchtower
>still no sign of them
I swear i'm never going to actually be able to finish the broken lords quest-line, every time something like this happens.

What "increased costs" do you mean?
I'm going to infer that you mean "Technology and traditions increase in cost the more you colonise", in which case the answer is planets (and also to a lesser degree raw population numbers)

Is it actually worth it to not colonize?
It's minerals and energy I'm always behind on, not tech (well, OK, tech as well, but that doesn't collapse my economy), so I always colonise every scrap of dirt I find, the moment I find it.
>>
>>183649151
Not for technology. The new labs you'll build in a colony, and the new research stations you'll build in your new territory, generate more science than the penalty.

The only thing where it doesn't end up in your favor is unity.
>>
>>183649151
Colonization is a fairly large drain on resources for a decent chunk of time.

First off, you have the nearly 400 minerals just to prop a ship into the air -- skimpy cruiser or decked out destroyer costs about as much.

Second, you are looking at -8 energy income for something like a year of time in the early game, though you do get to shorten that time with techs.

After that, there's additional food for the fairly rapidly growing planet (Probably a farm or two on said planet) which will cost 30-60 minerals and .5 to 1 energy upkeep.

Then you'll want to put down mines or science labs, which will cost another 30-60 each and .5-1 energy income each.

You may also need to add in a basic powerplant for another 30 minerals.

This puts you at (Capital, farm, mine, mine, mine/power plant) five pops, and then you might be interested in the capital upgrade at 350 minerals which unlocks upgrading most of those structures (MORE minerals)

There's also the space port you'll want to setup at 360 minerals and 3 energy upkeep. A solar panel network will cost another 75 minerals.
On the OTHER hand, space stations are amazing and why borders are so important.
A system in your borders can have anywhere from 0 mineral or energy to 10 minerals or 4-6 energy or some combination of minerals and energy. Prosperity tradition and Space Miner ruler cost can drop from 90 to 37 a piece or something?
>>
>>183649151
>Is it actually worth it to not colonize?
lmao no, tall is a meme. Every planet you colonise adds 10% to research cost; each pop adds 1% to research cost. Unity cost can be found here :
http://www.stellariswiki.com/Traditions#Cost
pops, unlocked traditions and colonised planets all increase unity cost.

Well, if two people have 50 out of a pot of 100, if one has more power than the other, then its a matter of time before one of them takes from the other. Whether you end with a 60-40 or a 80-20 distribution depends on how much power.

Why does FE awaken without any warning? Is it even possible to win against the doomstack of Awaken Empire? The AE I am facing is a materialist who swallowed another militarist FE.

If you have the confidence to outmaneuver them then go ahead. I just won a defensive war against an Awaken empire that has 600k fleet power while only have a single doomstack of 80k for myself.

It is truly amazing how many steps back Civ 6 has taken. Not even in terms of gameplay mechanics, just basic quality-of-life stuff. Restart button? Turn 0 autosave? Remembering your last map settings? Tooltips, at all? Fuck all that.

FEs decide to try to make themselves relevant again if either:
